Lovely thatched pub with open fires, site is large flat field at rear, electric hook up is available but only close to rear of pub, quiet location on edge of pretty village. Pub serves generous portions of good quality food at very good prices, wine is available by the bottle also well priced, plus a good selection of well kept real ales. Toilet facilities are of a good standard there is a washroom although we did not use it. There is no chemical toilet emptying point but can be emptied into toilet. The site is easy access for towing into

We have been going to this site for 3 years. I don't really know what to say on this review. All the reviews on here say the same as I would
The field is level and bumpy, the toilets and shower are clean and cleaned regularly.
We have stayed here with 3 campervans and stayed in the B and B I am biased when it comes to this pub as I love it. Pat Dave and the crew are brilliant, the beer is brilliant and the food is excellent (the best gammon steak in the world} oh yeah.
The Kennet and Avon canal is just up the road with walks to anywhere you want to go, pubs along the canal both ways. Pewsey is 15 minutes walk away, the museum is good for about 3 hours on a wet day
Love it all
Well go again and again etc etc

We have just come back from two nights at the Golden Swan we stayed in our land rover roof tent the field is fairly flat but not a bowling green. The pub is cosy and welcoming, on a cold November weekend the real fire was most welcome. But what really scores at the Golden Swan is the the hospitality of the staff and locals. On both nights we were made to feel welcome by all, but if mixing is not your thing that's fine too. The menu while not exhaustive has something to tempt everyone. The food is excellent, portions are large and you have to have a break before embarking on your choice of pudding which again are a real treat. The beer is well kept and served. There are toilets and showers available when the pub is closed, which were clean and everything worked as it should. All in all we had an excellent stay and will be returning with friends in the near future.

This is really a field next to the pub with use of the pub toilets and a shower room, but what a field it is!
It's on the edge of an idyllic village, the pub is great and serves good food and the canal is handy for a nice stroll. The pub also welcomes dogs.
The are no designated pitches, you just park up where you like. Don't expect campsite short grass or non-bumpy ground.
A good little site, more for the rural feel and scenery than the facilities. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Return visit to this site, first visited about 2 years ago when the current owner had only just taken over. Facilities have been improved to include shower / washroom. Makes a lot of difference, would certainly stay longer at this site now it has been upgraded.
Site was quite full as Bank Holiday weekend but still very quiet and did not feel too cramped. Will return if in the area again. Above all fantastic value for money.

What a great site small and very basic, but clean and a very friendly landlord. Myself the other half and the dog were just looking for a couple of nights away ,and we were pleasantly surprised, lovely flat pitches in beautiful countryside. There is just toilets one shower, one wash room and a washing up sink. I believe the landlord is refurbishing the out houses in to the toilet/shower blocks. The pub is in the heart of the village serving lovely home cooked food and what a friendly and knowledgeable landlord. The area is great for exploring the avon and kennet canals plus the pewsey vale. Yes it is a very basic campsite at the back of a pub,but we love it. We will definitely be returning.

This site can be very simply summed up as a field behind a pub in the middle of nowhere, the ground was generally flat if a little bumpy, aside from the pub there are practically no additional facilities, apart from the toilets which since I stayed earlier in the season are new and a vast improvement on the previous ones, doesn't sound like this site has much going for it, does it? but it's great!
The field has lovely views towards the local church and the hills in the distance, and the pub is a lovely old thatched building with lots of character. The field is flat but bumpy, there are no hardstanding or electric hookup points and the pitches are neither marked out nor particularly private. TV reception was just about acceptable if you don't mind a bit of 'snow'.
The sun was shining while I was there which always brightens ones perspective, and maybe being stuck here in the rain might not be much fun, however, with good walks all around, including the canal, and if your one of those people who can easily entertain themselves with pleasant views and a bottle of wine then give the site a try for a couple of days.

We spent a long weekend here in mid July. The site is a large slightly sloping grass area behind the pub, recently enlarged by the removal of a fence between two paddocks, it would comfortably accommodate thirty units plus without seeming crowded. It had been raining in the days prior to our arrival but the site drains well and we had no trouble driving our motor-home over the site.
There are ladies and gents toilets in the pub courtyard these are modern, clean and well maintained. They are accessable 24 hours a day, there is also a new uni sex shower room, this is brilliant and to ensure it stays that way it is kept locked but the key is easily obtained from the bar.
The site is well placed for exploring the surrounding area, OS Explorer Map 157 is a must for those wishing to walk or cycle
The landlord Peter is a font of local information and is always happy to give advise, if you don't bring a map he will lend you his to puruse over your evening meal, good chap.
The pub has a well kept cellar, and serves good food at a reasonable price (they have their own website with a menu and prices).
We will certainly be going back to this site.

This wasn't our first choice but as it was a bank holiday we ran out of options. As it turned out we were really pleased we came and will definitely go back again. The site probably contains room for 15 pitches and was quite quiet. The view is lovely and the landlord of the pub very helpful if you want advice on the local area. The canal is a few minutes walk away and there is a small green and some swings close for children. We didn't sample the pub food but it was all home cooked and cheap at around £8 a main! Toilets were adequate and no shower but the other factors more than made up for this.

Really lovely quiet sight slap bang in the middle of nowhere next to a lovely olde worlde thatched pub. Good value at £6 per night but offset by lack of any washing facilities. The village is crisscrossed by lovely walks, bisected by the Kennet and Avon canal, and surrounded by ancient earthworks and hillforts, plus the network of local lanes and easy hills make it perfect for a leisurely cycle.
