Really lovely site. We only used as stop-over but the views were stunning, the site immaculate and the owners great (even though our arrival interrupted their sunday lunch) We didn't venture out but believe there to be some beautiful walks nearby and it would be good for dogs. Would certainly visit again if we were in the area.

Well laid out site off the beaten track. Peaceful with wonderful views all around.

Site well kept with all facilities you need.

Came here with friends and had a great weekend barbecuing and chilling out followed by a Sunday lunchtime walk to the village pub at Combe Bisset. A nice easy stroll down for a couple of miles but a bit more strenuous coming back Well worth the effort though.

First, I feel I should apologise to the owners that I haven't got round to writing this before. I promised I would as they were SO helpful and accommodating when we had been badly let down by an extremely uncaring and unhelpful warden at a caravan club site nearby.

We arrived late at Summerlands (c. 9. 15 p. M. ) after having been told by the aforementioned warden that we could not get into the site (despite having booked), because it was after 8p. M. And we hadn't let her know in advance! (We rang at 8. 15. ) She wasn't at all bothered that we were on our way down from Nottingham to visit our daughter and now had nowhere to go.

Fortunately, I remembered that we had stayed at Summerlands before. I keep a holiday diary and was able to find the name and then the site's details. We rang up at about 8. 30 and although technically they were full, they managed to create a pitch for us in their garden for that night, complete with EHU.

We were so impressed by their helpfulness which was in stark contrast to the CC warden and we wish to thank them publicly for the way they put themselves out for us, and in such a cheerful way too!

Looking back in my diary, I see that we have stayed here in Oct 2011 and July 2012 (when our daughter, whom we were visiting, carried the Olympic torch). We have enjoyed it each time and I thought I had written a review for this site before, but apparently not.

It is a lovely level site. It is quiet, with no road noise, although the approach track is very bumpy! The pitches are well spaced out, giving plenty of room, and the facilities are good.

For me, though, it was that personal, caring touch which I shall never forget and always be grateful for. Thank you.

We came across Summerlands after searching for sites in and around the Salisbury area, and we were so glad we found it, we were greeted on arrival and shown to our pitch which was more than adequate for our 5m bell tent and we had also requested an electric hook up as well and this was no problem either. The family who run the site where very nice and welcoming, the facilities were cleaned daily and there was free hot water, the setting was picturesque with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The nearest shops were about 2 miles /5 mins away which was well stocked, Salisbury is only 20 mins drive and access to other attractions within 30 to 40 mins drive, i. E. Stonehenge, old Sarum. The site is also secure with a locked gate to get in and out with a key supplied for use. We enjoyed it so much we have booked for a two week break next year.

We planned to stay for two nights. Our 2 children aged 10 and 11 enjoyed the wide space playing cricket. We only stayed 1 night as the rain never stopped and we awoke to wet sleeping bags, air beds and anything that was in the tent. I would like to come back when the weather is better.

The shower and toilets were spotlessly clean in the men's and ladies. The wash room also looked very clean. It was very quiet with beautiful views over the countryside.

The site is very secure as you have to keep locking a gate to get in and out of the site. We had a 2 man and a 4 man tent, which we had plenty of room on one pitch. As we left early the owner said we only had to pay for 1 day which was extremely nice of him.

The only downside for our brief visit was the un named road to the site was full of potholes and not a good road to drive on.

I would recommend you stay here as ideal to visit Stonehenge and Old Sarum.

This site is located 0. 6 miles along a somewhat bumpy loose stone track in quiet open countryside. Upon arrival, visitors are issued with a set of rules and a key to an access gate which must be kept locked at all times. The owner then takes you to your pitch and instructs you how to set up. The facilities block has 2 toilets and 1 shower for each gender, and seemed to cope albeit with some queueing when the site was full. Hot water was always abundant.

The site is laid out over a grassy field but other than numbered slabs and the hook-up points, the individual pitches are not clearly defined. Part of the field is used for caravan storage, which would have benefitted from some screening.

We were shown where to pitch some 10 metres away from our hook-up point and guessed that the land in between represented our pitch, but we were never quite sure about this. As a consequence of this open plan nature, everybody is required to walk through other pitches in order to access the facilities, which can feel uncomfortable. Another consequence is that children can play amongst other units, and the overall outcome of these factors is diminished privacy.

As long-standing former campers we always research intended sites to ensure segregation between caravans and tents. This has nothing to do with snobbishness, but experience tells us that campers tend to be quieter when camped amongst the audible reference point of fellow campers, and that the opposite can prove the case when they are camped amongst quieter caravans.

Before booking at Summerlands we confirmed such segregation via the plan on the site's website; hence we rather surprised to find that the owner consistently placed tents amongst the caravans throughout our stay. This resulted in a rather noisy stay for us, with one neighbouring large group of campers chatting until after midnight and another young family rising before 6. 00 a. M. And playing ball alongside us by 6. 15 a. M.

Whilst the owner cannot be held accountable of individual actions of his visitors we do feel that better definition of pitches and segregation of units could vastly improve this site.

We came to this site hoping for a nice relaxing 2 night weekend break and that's exactly what we got. Our pitch (T3) had excellent views across the rolling downs off in to the distance.

The facilities were kept clean at all times, however as the site was very busy, having only one shower did lead to queues, as did having one washing up sink. (Minor points but worth mentioning. )

There is walking directly from the site and Coombe Bisset is about a 1. 5 mile stroll down the across the nature reserve, with a pint awaiting at the Fox and Goose. There are plenty of other walks from the site and other pubs that can be walked to depending on the distance you wanted to go.

The owners were friendly and escorted us to our pitch on arrival, pointing out the locations of water, bins, etc and giving useful information. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and the site itself just seemed to help you relax.

We only live in Salisbury (about 6 miles), but wanted to get away without driving too far after work, so no doubt we'll be back in future.

 What a gem!

Access was down an unmade road, which was no problem towing a FC. The site was at the end of the lane in peaceful location.

We were shown to our pitch - views over rolling fields and Isle of Wight in distance.

Being June it was not busy, the weather was just wonderful and the peace and quiet of the site suited us perfectly.

The toilet block has 2 ladies loo's, 1 shower and 4 hand basins - (I think the gents is similar), as there were few of us on the site this was no problem. There is 1 sink for washing up and 1 sink for hand washing, in the same block as toilets.

A small freezer for freezing blocks (free) is a nice gesture.

The facilities were spotless and cleaned everyday - and they smelled nice!

Chemical toilet disposal is situated at the rear of the toilet block, clean and tidy.

All areas were tidy and well kept, bins emptied regularly and the standpipes for water were clean.

The site is conveniently situated for exploring a wide area, and the fabulous city of Salisbury is a short drive away (we used park and ride - recommended as Salisbury is busy!)

You can walk to the village of Coombe Bissett from the site. There is a village shop which stocks Calor Gas as well as useful everyday items, and a pub.

All in all one of the best sites we have ever stayed on especially as we heard a cuckoo every morning - we shall return.

This site is fantastic, ideal for a quiet and relaxing break. The booking in was smooth and we were shown to our pitch (no:15) and given some local information on walks/pubs etc. The pitch was perfectly flat and overlooked a rape field. The facilities were spotless and consisted of two toilets/1 shower for both male/female. There's an indoor washing up room which has 1 washing up sink and 1 sink for clothes washing. There is a chemical disposal round the back of the facilities. There are plenty of water taps and bins for your rubbish. The site is lovely and quiet and we didn't hear any road noise. We really enjoyed the walks which are straight out the gate and you can walk for miles along by-ways. We used our OS map apps on our phones which were really useful. We walked down to Coombe Bissett to the Fox and Goose pub which seems very popular and was always busy (good sign!), they welcomed our two dogs and treated them to dog biscuits. The food was good and very 'pubby' (basically your typical pub food!) The walk back to the campsite is uphill but not too bad! The main gate is locked with a padlock and we were given a key on arrival. I read in previous reviews that the entrance track was very bumpy, the track looks like it has recently been resurfaced and was absolutely fine. If you want a peaceful break with some lovely flat(ish) walks then this is the campsite for you. If I was to be really critical I would say the one shower could cause queues in peak times but then camping is all about chilling! Also I would LOVE to take my horses with me as the hacking is brill. We will be booking again soon.

Our family has just spent a very enjoyable five nights at this small, friendly, family run site. Despite being full there was plenty of space around each pitch and clear open areas for ball games etc. The heated toilets were kept very clean and the shower and washing up water was always hot. We chose the site as it is secure and well away from the main road/any open water; with a small child in our group this was important to us. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area. We visited Salisbury, the New Forest, the local Roman villa and the local pub (friendly welcome, good pub food, play area). Arranging a late checkout was no problem. We will definitely be visiting again.
