Road to campsite is a bit bumpy, but not too bad. They have tried to fill in most of the holes. Arrived Friday night of 1st May bank holiday. Made to feel very welcome and shown to our pitch. Loads of room for our little motorhome. Fabulous views over the country side. Have to say the pitches are all grass and when damp it got everywhere(this was on the first morning when it rained). When dry there wasn't a problem. Showers and toilets are very clean. Only two toilets and one shower for ladies and gents. However, no one lingered so the waiting time was minimal. Only one sink for washing up and one for washing clothes. Again we didn't have a problem.
Cycled off road to the Fox and Goose pub in Coombe Bissett, all down hill and very pretty route. Pub food was lovely and again the service was excellent. A bit of a hike coming back as the hill was very steep, but that added to the fun. We had three nights on the site and had friends on the pitch next to us. Had to be quiet after 10. 30 pm. Sorry we were a little noisy nipping to the loo before bed after looking at the amazing night sky (we were just excited to have a break away from work). But we did heed the rules and regs.
Would definitely recommend and cant wait to visit again. You do need some form of transport if you wish to go out and about

Our arrival at the campsite was a little bumpy as the shingle track/road was quite rough in places, ok for us as we were camping but may be difficult for caravans with very low drawbars/axles.
The campsite itself we found to be very clean and well laid out and the owners were very welcoming and showed us to our pitch which we had booked a week or two earlier.
The pitch was very sizeable and allowed plenty of room between our neighbours it was also very flat and on a nice mowed grass surface (make sure you have a peg puller or something similar as being on the downs there was a clay soil and when dropping the tent it was quite difficult to pull the pegs up). We had fantastic view overlooking the New Forest and it was a very pleasant view while eating our breakfast in the morning.
Previous reviews mentioned that there was no road noise which on the whole is correct, we only heard a very little road noise at peak times and only if the wind was in the right direction.
The only external noise which was novel to start with was the noise from quite a few light aircraft and helicopters approx. 2-3 every hour, they were learning to fly (as indicated by their stall drills etc. ) but after a while became a little tiring to hear.
There was also quite a few military aircraft passing by at very low altitudes, but we didn't notice them as much as they were very quiet.
The owners had about 12-15 caravans in storage behind us off to one side of the camping field which was a little disconcerting as it gave the area a general abandon feel to it. Fortunately we were able to set up our campsite to face outwards over the farmers’ fields and it proved to not be a major concern.
The campsite facilities were very good and it was nice to be able to have a long hot shower. The campsite had one shower in both the men’s and the women’s toilet block which was fine for us as we went very much out of season (but were fortunate with the weather!) but may cause a few queues at peak times.
The campsite also had one dish washing up area and a clothes washing area, which was clean and tidy. Again as above this was ok for us out of season but may cause a few queues at peak times.
The owners also provided a free freezer block service which we took advantage of and kept us with cold milk and beer for the four days we were at the campsite.
The campsite was fantastic for watching birds particularly birds of prey.
The site is also an excellent location for lots of scenic walks.
My wife and I would use this campsite again as an out of season campsite as I feel it would be too busy for us at peak times.
It has fantastic views, nice and quiet out of season and has lots of walks and wildlife to satisfy the outdoors spirit in us all.

We are loathe to write a review for this campsite, as we want to keep it all to ourselves! This is one of the most tranquil and relaxed campsites we have ever stayed at.
The owners are so pleasant and helpful. The pitches are very generous in size and flat with ehu and there is a superb dog walk. The toilets are always spotless as is the shower.
Plenty of water taps and refuse disposal areas. A state of the art chemical water disposal point. We have been coming here for the last 3 years and as it is only an hour and half away from where we live it is the perfect weekend get away from it all break.
There are lovely circular walks straight from the campsite, and a pub about 30 mins walk away through the top of the surrounding countryside. We always return home feeling refreshed and ready to face the week ahead.
A word of warning though, the approach road/track is very bumpy!

This is a fantastic site. Absolutely no road noise, it is a mile off of the main road, with fields all around. Lovely!
Showers/toilet facilities clean and tidy all the time. Free Hot water. Only had to wait for shower once, even though site was full.
Did have to wait to use washing up sink. There were two available but one was dedicated for laundry, but some people did use it anyway.
Free freezer block service in utility block.
Loads of drinking water taps available.
Owners are great and make you feel really welcome.
There is no children's play area here, but there is a big field at the front of the owners house where ball games are allowed.
There are many footpaths around the site and we found one which is a circular walk turning right out onto the dog walk, it took us an hour.
Only suggestion I would have is to provide recycling bins in refuse areas, to save a little time for the owners.
While we were here we visited Salisbury Cathedral, Caen Lock System, Dinton Park, Farmer Giles Homestead (the latter cost £25 for a family and frankly isn't worth the money, as you had to pay extra for milk for lambs, feed for animals, pony rides etc). Shaftesbury.

We stayed for 3 nights in glorious weather, really loved the peace and tranquillity, a long way from anywhere. The site is kept immaculately. Fabulous views, lovely walks. The track is a bit 'bumpy', but not a problem if you go at it sensibly. The village pub is a 45 minute(leisurely) stroll away and well worth a visit. The shower/toilet block was always spotless, but could be a problem when the site gets busy as there is only one shower in each. Not a problem when we were there. Owners friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it if you want peace and quiet.

Lovely peaceful site. Owners very welcoming and helpful.
Toilet and shower block clean and to a good standard. Only one shower in each of the male and female toilets though which could be a problem if the site was full. Extra sinks to wash clothes and dishes in.
The ground drains very well as it had rained for a week solid before we arrived and had no problems. Also generous sized pitches and flat ground.
It is quite a distance from the main road and the track is quite bumpy in places but it wouldn't put me off. Take everything you need and don't leave until you have to go home!
Close to Salisbury and about 25 mins to Peppa Pig world (the reason for our trip!)
I felt the prices were very reasonable. No extra charges for it being a bank holiday weekend and it was very well priced anyway.
Highly recommended for a relaxing get away from it all break.

Went for a weekend and liked it so much went back the following weekend!
Warm friendly welcome from owners, clean modern toilet /shower/ wash up facilities. Beautiful setting with great walks. Dog friendly too. Nothing flash, just good quality relaxing place to sit and enjoy or gently explore the many byways(40min walk to pub for lunch).
They will lend you a longer lead if your pitch is not close to hookup point(most pitches are quite generous).
Plenty of info available ie buses/ shops/ pubs and nearby attractions.
Not suitable for those wanting 24/7 shopping as local village store not open long hours but Salisbury about 10mins by car.
Good mobile/tv signal for those who can't function without it.
Bumpy lane when you turn off main road so don't take your low slung sports car. Ok for normal vehicles and caravans/campers.

Just returned from a weekend camping at this site. What a lovely peaceful site. You really get a feel of being away from it all - and so quiet - despite the tent area being full! We spent the evenings gazing at the stars in the massive sky.
You get to the site by a long gravel road - a little bumpy and a few potholes but not too bad. The site itself feels away from it all as is surrounded by open fields. There are numerous footpaths nearby so great area for walking and the owners will even loan you os maps (for a deposit).
The campsite itself is small with only 6 or seven tent spaces and about 20 caravan pitches. You are allocated pitches when you book but these are spacious.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and the facilities are spotless. All the tent spaces were allocated when we visited and with 2 ladies toilets and 1 shower we thought that be a problem - but we never had to queue at all.
The shower/toilet/washing block was close by for all the tents and the shower room had plenty of space with window shelf and stool and hooks for clothes.
The shower itself was powerful enough with plenty of hot water and was free and not time controlled. The site was well cared for with the grass recently cut and all the pitches had a tree or hedge nearby so it was a nice sheltered site.
Access to the tent area was separate from the caravan access so we had very little traffic through the tent area.
There was info on local amenities in the amenities block and the owners were keen to hear feedback on what was good/cpould be improved. We struggled to find anything that would improve the stay apart from a hairdryer in the wash block would have been nice.
Closest pub is Fox& Goose in Coombe Bissett (5-10mins away) and we had a lovely meal there. There is a small shop in the village but it has limited opening hours.
This is a gem of a site - so quiet, friendly and relaxed owners and spotless facilities - and great value. We will be back!

After making our booking over the phone and receiving confirmation and information I had the feeling this was going to be a good site, well it never disappointed us. The toilets are very clean, with hot showers plenty of room, not once did we have to wait, early risers!
There's plenty of space allocated for ball games.
Ice pack freeing is not a problem, the owners have a freezer in their garage, though I would recommend they have it in the wash room, mainly to save their time.
There is no tumble dryer, and as the weather was fairly kind to us this was not a problem, other times if may have been.
There's two sinks for pot washing in the toilet block, and also plenty of local info.
The owners recommended the Cartwheel for good homemade food, excellent it was. The Yew Tree Inn in Whitsbury was great food too, Monday fish night, and Wednesday steak, 8oz sirloin £7 with trimmings! all the family were very friendly and helpful, especially little Will.
Will definitely visit again.

We have just returned from a long weekend at this site, and must say it was very good.
The pitches are numbered, very well spaced, and level, which still being new to caravanning was very helpful. The whole site is extremely tidy and well landscaped, with plenty of space for children to play, but for us it's main attraction was the views, you can see for miles. In fact we could even see the fireworks from Poole/Cowes in the distance. It's a very peaceful location, no traffic noise, with plenty of nice walks available, although a dog waste bin would have been useful.
We generally use our own facilities, but did check out those on site, which were good quality, and extremely clean and tidy, although I think there was only a single mens & womens shower, didn't seem to be a problem, as I didn't notice anyone waiting. Also available in the shower/toilet block were leaflets on local attractions which was a nice touch. The waste disposal point was very discreet, located behind this building.
EHU points are shared between pitches, which in our case required a long cable, which fortunately we have, but if not the owner/warden was more than happy to lend you one. The owners were very friendly, and issued us with a sort of welcome pack on arrival, and provided a key for the locked entrance gate, which provides security to the site.
We enjoyed visiting Salisbury, although parking can be difficult and expensive, but there is a park & ride service nearby. If you don't want to go into Salisbury there is a local shop, and a nice pub!
Finding the site was very easy thanks to the supplied directions, however once you leave the main road, you'll soon be greeted with a long and bumpy drive to the site, along a poor gravel track. Too be honest this was the only negative point for us having a saloon car, although if you have a SUV or 4x4 then I guess it wouldn't be an issue. Hopefully the owners will be able to improve this over time, or at least fill in some of the worst holes
I would highly recommend this site, especially for those that enjoy escaping to a peaceful site, with good scenic views, and countryside walks.
