We stayed at this campsite for a week and loved the peaceful, natural setting. The site is close enough to Chateaulin, an easy walk by the river, yet has a quiet rural charm. The English owners were friendly and helpful and gave us plenty ideas of places to visit. There is a lovely market garden on site with chickens and guinea pigs adding extra interest. The toilet block was clean and spacious with plenty hot water and the washing up area was decorated with drawings and paintings from previous campers. The site had a lovely family friendly and welcoming feel. We will definitely plan a return visit.

Stayed at this site for several days in September. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. The site is small but felt very safe. The walk into Chateaulin along the canal is lovely and we found the site central for both days out to local cities, towns and beaches. The site is also very convenient to some of the Channel ports. However, we had previously stayed in several other campsites on this 5 week trip in different areas of France and found this site to be the most expensive yet the site with the fewest facilities. The toilet block wasn't the best it could be either. A deep clean and a fresh coat of paint wouldn't go amiss. Caravaners who depend on a wheelchair for mobility would find it very difficult to access the toilet and shower as both are uphill on a stony path.

A lovely small and quiet campsite with spaces for about 30 units. The English owners were friendly and helpful. Pitches are spacious and with hedges between allowing for some privacy. On the one side (right as entering) you get plentiful sunshine in the mornings. The facilities are ample. Plenty of showers with readily available hot water and toilet and washing facilities all of which were kept in pristine condition. There is plenty of room for washing up and a washing machine which is operated using tokens purchased on site. There is access to a fridge freezer and microwave and also lots of information about the local area. The site also has a useful book exchange, just in case you run out! There is a kitchen garden and you could buy some items, along with a small shop. Bread and croissants could be ordered for delivery the following morning. The area is lovely, very green and with vast clean sandy beaches, reminded me of a cross between home (Shropshire) and Cornwall. We had a lovely time here and hopefully will go back sometime.

Set in a small sheltered valley, La Pointe camping is an idyllic retreat of peace and quiet. Pitches are a good size accommodating either single or 2-4 units, all with hedges either side. The site itself is well kept as is the shower/toilet block - fairly basic but that France for you. There is a fridge/freezer for you to use for ice blocks etc. There are plenty of EHU/water taps, as well as waste disposal and recycling. The owners are very helpful without being 'in your face'.
Chateaulin is a 15 min stroll away along the canal. It is a very pretty town with a couple of large supermarkets and several cafes and bars where you can watch the world go by. There were quite a few shops and bars closed - due to the recession perhaps, which spoilt the look of the place slightly, but the flowers everywhere certainly made up for it.
You can walk along the canal for as far as the eye can see and is a lovely way to end the day after a bbq and few beers!
There are plenty of picturesque villages and towns within a radius of about 50k (we try and limit the distance we travel each day) so our days were busy as well as spending much needed r&r at the caravan.

Had a wonderful 2 weeks at this site on our first trip to France. Had amazing weather and we loved the location of the campsite as it was easy to tour about from there. We liked being able to walk into Chateaulin on market days to stock up with great fresh food - supermarket was superb as well with huge fish counter and fab wines for 3 euros a bottle.
Marcus and Julie are lovely people who were very helpful. And those wonderful eggs! so fresh and the great bread and croissants that were delivered fresh each morning.
The campsite itself was superb for us as we were looking for a place which had quietness and relaxation. We found the toilet facilities never busy and always clean.
The nearby River Aulne canal was great for fishing and cycling along.
We will be returning as soon as possible.

Stayed for 9 nights, it is a really lovely site, we were made to feel very welcome and the owners were very helpful and friendly. Campsite was quiet and relaxing yet close to the picturesque town of Chateaulin. You can walk to the town along the towpath of a pretty canal, excellent walking for dogs too, our dog loved it. It is a good centre to stay at with beautiful beaches, pretty undulating countryside and many historic places to visit. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Brittany.

We found this site like most of the other Brits there. There was a good mix of French and Dutch as well.
This site is great and the pitches large and the facilities pretty good. The owners are really helpful and it lived up to its reviews.
The nearby town is nice and the canal/river very picturesque. However, it is a bit far to walk with the kids.
Brittany and the surround has lots to do, but the down side is really the weather; a bit line Cornwall except people speak French.

We booked this site far in advance, and we were glad we chose it.
Access to Chateaulin from wherever you're coming from is pretty easy - it's 10 minutes off the main motorway although you'd never know it as the town itself is well down in the valley.
This also helps as most of Finisterre is no more than 30 minutes drive away, and there is a lot to do.
Marcus and Julie are first rate hosts - you really do get a good friendly service from them, at all times of day. They do have a small shop - just the basics like local maps, wine, cider and other store cupboard stuff - but I guess that's the stuff they sell most of. Order your bread and pastries the night before and collect in the morning - freshly made and delivered every day. Thursdays you may well see the crepe van on site - galettes and crepes cooked to order. There is also free wifi within 50m of the site office if you're sad like me and need to catch up on the outside world.
The site itself is almost a strip running north south in a small wooded valley, although there are a few pitches tucked away up one side of the valley. Pitches are matched to the camper's requirements - big tent, big pitch, etc, and there's room to pull your car off the access track. There's a good attempt to give some privacy by laurel hedges between pitches too which really helps. The west side of the site has a small stream running down it - handy for beer cooling - and there are enough trees to string up washing lines as and when you need.
The facilities block is excellent - you could easily stay two weeks here. At no time did we have to wait for anything even when the site seemed full. The only comment I have (a common one) is that an extra freezer for cool blocks is always welcome. The cleanliness is more than adequate, and the showers are great.
There is a lending library and a load of leaflets and information available; on top of this Julie gave us some regional brochures and a 'what's on' magazine as well. You will not be short of things to do!
The town of Chateaulin is an easy walk; it features more bars than eateries to be fair, but we had an excellent night out at a creperie in the town. It's a really nice place to sit and have a beer in the afternoons too, and do a bit of people watching.
The site featured a good mix of nationalities and ages - this probably is a good thing. Brits, Belgians, Dutch and French in the main, but all the way from babies to pensioners. There isn't much provided other than space and imagination, but it was great (as nonchild owners) to see kids just having a good time running around and playing. Noise was loudest at about 9pm - but only in the amenities block as they all got their final wash of the day before bed time, and by the time it was dark, you'd not hear much apart from the odd cork popping.
Any downsides? A ban on singing and guitars would be nice. Only joking, but a singing dad with a guitar was my only irritation. Music is a very personal thing I guess!
All in all, everyone was very nice and made good efforts to respect everyone else; Marcus and Julie are excellent hosts, and strive to make sure you will enjoy your stay.
NB - excellent cycling country too!

It takes a brave owner to call their campsite 'Superb' but this campsite more than lives up to its name.
The British owners were friendly and helpful and gave us a short tour before allowing us to choose which of the vacant pitches to camp on. All pitches were large and flat with privacy given by border hedging and at very reasonable rates.
The shower block was kept very clean and also had an information room with details of the area and a fridge which was free to use. Also there was a play room above with table tennis.
It is located about a 15 minute walk along the River Aulne from Chateaulin which had a few restaurants and a small selection of bars. It is superbly situated for touring the area and whilst we were there we toured the Crozon Peninsula, visited Quimper, Doualas Abbey, Fout, Ile de Sein (from Audierne) and Locronan - all of which involved at the most 45 minutes driving.
We only intended staying here for about 3 nights and basically stayed for 6 until we left for our Ferry from Roscoff (about an hours drive) which says it all really. Highly recommended.

Well placed to explore the Finistere peninsular, La Pointe Camping is a charming little oasis to return to after a day out. The pitches are generous and marked mostly by low hedges with electricity available to some (you will need a French adaptor). The toilet block is large but the showers small and whole thing would benefit from a good clean and lick of paint. Marcus and Julie are very welcoming and work hard to make your stay a pleasure.
