Stayed here for 3 nights on our way further south. Had a huge pitch with a table & chairs, BBQ & fridge provided - we were expecting a fully serviced pitch but there seemed to be only one tap for us & the pitch next door.
Swimming complex was fantastic - lazy river, various pools & slides - our girls loved it. Good park and open areas for playing too.
Takeaway was good - pizza & chips. Restaurant was ok but we thought it had limited choice.
Bar area nice & we joined in watching the beginning of the Olympics with everyone else whilst our daughters emptied the grab machine in the games room of a variety of small cuddley toys.
Local area lovely, Chateaux & great cycling by the river.
Best things - big pitches, great pools, good shop, takeaway & bar, reception open all the time, pool open til dark, 4. 5 hrs from Calais.
Nothing bad to say other than most expensive pitch we've ever paid for but when it's as nice as that you can justify it!

This was our first stay in a static caravan with Eurocamp, we usually camp in a tent in small campsites. Now that we have three young children (6, 5 and 2) we thought we'd give it a go.
For those camping - the premier pitches had a fridge, patio furniture and a BBQ.
This was an excellent site. It had 2 pools, a lazy river. The river doesn't look much on the photos but everyone including adults seemed to loved it. The shop sold inflatables but I imagine it would be cheaper to bring your own to float around the river. The toddler pool on a few days was REALLY cold but fine on other days. Men wore surfing type swimwear not speedos.
I looked in the showers and toilets and they seemed spotlessly clean although I didn't use them. It said they were cleaned throughout the day and deep cleaned twice daily. They had irons and ironing boards free to use which is brilliant when camping. The laundry was 6 euros for a wash (we had five days worth of clothes and could easily have put in double) and the dryers were 3 euros.
There were go-karts and bikes to hire. We hired the large 5 person go-cart for 1/2hr (10 euros and 18euros for 1 hr). I'd go for 1/2hr, our legs were pretty tired after that! The area is VERY flat and would be great for cycling- Chateau Chambord is close enough to cycle to.
We visited the Chambord estate every night to look for wild boars and deer in the hides. It was about a 5 minute drive away and free! Chateau Chambord is very beautiful with free grounds to run around.
We went to Blois Chateau and the Mason de la Magie (House of Magic - it has a magic show, they don't talk so knowing little French won't be a hinderance) which were both brilliant - you can get a single ticket to include both. Blois itself is lovely too.
We went to Chateau Villesavin, it has a good area explaining weddings and a selection of old carriages but the farm for children was disappointing. I wish we had gone to Chateau de Cheverney instead, it looks like you could've spent longer there.
Also went on a chocolate factory tour (Max Vauche) with a chocolate tasting at the end YUM!
Oh - I nearly forgot, Zooparc de Beauval is excellent. It closes at 8pm and I think you probably could spend most of the day there, the children enjoyed the sealion and birds of prey show. There are picnic tables in the carpark, you just need to get your hand stamped before leaving so you can get back in again. If you buy your ticket from the campsite it is 1 euro cheaper.
Sorry for the long review, I like reading other peoples' and seeing what they did, so I hope this helps.

We got an out of season deal on three statics and enjoyed a ten day break in May with our daughters and their partners.
This is a handsome largish site with holiday company statics/tents combined with lots of camping pitches. It's set in semi woodland a few minutes walk from a small town and a short drive from the magnificent Chateau De Chambord
We had a good look around the site which is a pretty place, large pitches in straight rows with loose hedging separating most. The facilities were clean and well appointed.
We rarely use site swimming pools but we chose to give it a go and for us it was nice not to have the crowded pool common in peak season at these larger sites. We got away from the Queens jubilee but there were a good number of Brits enjoying the whit holiday in decent sunshine, and of course there was a jubilee party at the bar! Bar prices were the usual fare but they had an ok selection of beers, unusually.
It was a good time of year to come at there was a bit of a hum about the place without it ever being too busy. We felt completely relaxed here.
The shop sells pretty much all you could want, fresh bread and croissants every morning! The reception were friendly and helpful and had a good quantity of useful information displayed.
The Loire is one of Frances must sees, in particular the Chateaus and towns. Blois was great. The river itself isn't much but I guess that's not the point.
We'd be happy to stay here again and it's a great place for families with kids. It would probably a bit mad for us peak season but we really enjoyed our time here as did our daughters and their boyfriends
Recommended.

Have just returned from a Fantastic 13 night stay at this site.
On arrival I was allocated a pitch at the far end of the site which was very shaded. I looked around the site and found some nicer lighter pitches were still availiable. After visiting reception they were only to helpful to swap our pitch.
Pitch size enough room for caravan + Awning + car
Pool Complex was superb with 2 pools / lazy river / slides. My 9 yr old spent most of the day here with new friends whilst we sat soaking up the sun on the loungers. Pools did get busy on very hot days.
Toilets & shower facilities very clean & plentiful.
Numerous activities for the kids / playgrounds / karts / fishing pond
Numerous cycle routes nearby along the river & Chambord Chateau 5 km cycle ride away.
Small shop selling essentials / slightly expensive but 2 supermarkets within short distance drive.
Did not try the resteraunt but did have the occasional drink at the Bar.
Small take away serving pizzas & fries found to be excellent value.
Would not hesitate to use this site again & probably will next year

We stayed at the site for five days this August and had a fantastic time. The site is well kept with plenty of trees for shade. Good size pitch, not massive but plenty of room for our tent and car.
Plenty of wash block facilities. Never had to queue and they were clean and tidy.
Takeaway pizza was excellent. Prices in France are sky high and we found this area more expensive than Normandy last year.
My kids (4 yrs and 3 yrs) loved the swimming pool which was fab. It has four slides and a lazy river as well as a couple of pools. We were lucky to have great weather and they used it a lot. The pool was well maintained. Also great play area for kids. They hired go karts at 8 euros per half hour which a lot of people did.
The area is great for cycling and we went to chambord. Cycling is very flat and great for kids and novices. We cycled up to the forest which is very close to the campsite and within the forest there are observatory hides to see the animals. We saw deer, wild boar and wild sheep. Best to go early In the morning or early evening. The kids loved it and it was free.
We went to Blois which was 20 mins away and did a horse and cart tour of city. 20 euros for 2 adults and 2 children. Not cheap but meant that we all enjoyed the day.
We had a great holiday here and would not hesitate to return.

We booked our 10 day stay at this campsite in February with a tent and 2 cars with 4 adults and 2 children age 9 and 11. The initial pitch they gave us was too small for the number of people in our party, but they let us look at all the available pitches and let us chose which we wanted. Our pitch was really big with space for 2 cars, tent, gazebo, table area and a space for boules etc. Some of the pitches were a little smaller but still OK. They were really helpful so if you were not happy you may be able to move as they had lots of camper vans coming and going. Some of the pitches were under the trees so didn't get much sun and some pitches were a little uneven.
The site was hard to find when we turned up so owners should invest in better signage. Once you are in town of Muide sur Loire drive through main road and turn into the road on the corner of cafe and opposite post office and small village square.
Each pitch has it's own electric hook up with a typical french socket so you would need an adapter and own water tap. There are several toilet blocks with clean toilets and showers and wash up areas. They also had washing machines and dryers but also hand washing stations if you didn't want to pay. They could do with a few more hooks in the toilets/showers to hang towels etc but no big deal.
The pool complex was great with fab warm lazy river, main pool which was warm as it was covered on cooler days to retain heat. The other pool was fab too with hot tub and 3 different slide systems, which the kids loved. There were also a cool pool and cold water slide so it was fun changing temperatures. There are many loungers chairs etc but they were all usually reserved with towels by 10.
Fab play area with climbing stuff with a outside tennis net and 2 table tennis tables free to use. The only down side was that this grass area was uneven and was sloped so not so good for football etc and there were dips and ruts where you could trip and hurt ankles. The proper tennis court needed to be reserved and paid for. The tourist office rented bikes and these fab little karts which the kids loved but these were expensive 6e half hour 10e for 1 hour. Crazy golf was 2. 50e. The sauna was good value 10e first person 8e subsequent with max 4 people and can be booked for your own use which was great. They also had a little coffee room in the grand house where you could eat your croissants and have coffee. The shop was small but is being extended for 2012. The products were generally expensive. Free Internet connection available at different times of day near reception and some of the closer pitches.
The take away was good but a little pricey always with a big queue. We ate in the restaurant twice which was lovely. They were always busy but so polite and friendly. The food was pricey for a campsite but worth every penny as good quality with big portions. The bar was warm and friendly a pint was 4e and a magnum ice cream 2. 50e and a coke about 2e so quite pricey. The rubbish and recycling points were near the entrance which whilst was an inconvenience due to the walk it meant that rubbish was away from pitch areas so clean and hygienic. Two good supermarkets within 5-7km.
The location of this site is fab for exploring chateaus, towns and the loire area, Good quiet cycle routes along the river and into the forest of chambord.
This is a great site for young families and young children. There wasn't much for older kids apart from internet, There was football and films shown in the evening and a few quizs etc but with nearly everyone following the 10. 30-11 quiet time apart from chatting outside your tent/caravan.
Can't recommend this site enough for a chilled out relaxing break with fab pool complex. No wonder it was listed in the Times top 50 campsites.

I booked this site partially on the basis that it was listed under The Independent's '50 best campsites in the world'. We intended to spend three nights here and three in the Vendee but the Vendee site emailed me the night before we embarked from Portsmouth turning down my booking request. As soon as we arrived after a lengthy drive from Le Harve we decided to try and stay the extra three nights.
The site is laid out beautifully with large pitches, lots of trees, a fantastic pool with a 'lazy river' and plenty of other facilities. The toilet/shower/laundry/dishwashing blocks were generally very clean. There were a LOT of families with young children around - mostly Dutch and British. The staff were always friendly and polite with excellent English and they managed to accommodate our request fot the additional nights by asking us to pitch on a large open area (which still had electricity and private water supply). In fact, we preferred this to our original pitch!
The site is 500 metres from the BOUNDARY of the enormous Chombard Estate so to see the famous Chateau you have to travel 7 kilometres into the estate. We did this twice on our bikes - a brilliant experience as you are cycling along a straight road through the largest private forest in Europe complete with wild boar and deer. You can hire bikes at the camp site. The campsite has a restaurant (which we didn't try) an excellent take away, a grocers, a tourist office (very helpful) a nice bar, and a sauna. Highly recommended.

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to this fantastic site in the Loire Valley.
We rebooked for 5 nights after leaving Le Ragis as it was a dump, Not here though, very clean and tidy, always seems to be work of some sorts going on, pool checks etc large pitches most with taps and drainage and overall a fantastic feeling across the whole site.
We were pitched directly behind the new reception office as we were not pre booked but this turned out to be fab, nice and quiet handy for the shop, pools and fishing lake but also close enough for the shower block, the bins were handy too as was an elsan point.
We found plenty of room around the pools although the site was full and water temp was very pleasant, we visited Chambord and went inside, a must I reckon and the site is close enough for shops and supermarkets to stock up.
We purchased bread and pain au rasin each day and these were gorgeous and very fresh.
Fishing on site is very good and there are some pitches next to the lake, good sized carp and roach/bream make for plentiful entertainment.
We watched the soccer 1 night in the bar, not noisy at all and there was a quiz going on also. Staff very helpful and cycles to hire on site too. A perfect getaway I will happily spend 14 nights there in future

Have just spent a wonderful fortnight on this site. Decided we would not go as far south this year, and found this area very easy to get to, being only half a day's drive from Calais.
Our pitch was huge. Plenty of room for caravan, awning, a badminton court and the car, with a big tree next to the car too. Beware though, pitch sizes vary. Opposite us were two pitches, both of which combined were the size of our single pitch. They weren't any cheaper either !
The site did not advertise fully serviced pitches. We, therefore, did not take our direct water hook-up with us and were very disappointed to find that we did have our own tap and drainage on the pitch. Very annoying filling up the Aqua-roll for two weeks, when we could have had water direct.
Site felt very open. Lots of play areas for kids. Lots of play equipment for kids of different ages. There was free wi-fi on site, so most teenagers would sit at the picnic tables in the evening on Facebook. The wi-fi was slightly slower in your tent / caravan than it was down at the bar area, so I think that's why they tended to congregate there in the evening.
There was a lovely bar / restaurant / takeaway. We ate at the restaurant one evening and paid 45 Euros for main meal and dessert for 2 adults and 2 kids, plus two drinks each for the kids and a bottle of wine for us. Not cheap, but certainly cheaper than the Dordogne last year. The bar area was quiet in the evenings, which we like. No disco or entertainment and only very quiet music. One evening Eurocamp reps held a race night, which was all over by 9.30, but apart from that it was very tranquil. There were loads of shower blocks. Your pitch was never very far from one. They were all really lovely. Each shower cubicle also had its own sink, which meant they were very roomy. The showers were ones you could turn on and off yourself (not nasty pushy-button ones) and the temperature was fully adjustable, which is good when you have a 5 year old that accuses you of 'burning' them every 20 seconds.
Pool complex was lovely, but you never knew from one day to the next whether the temperature was lovely and warm, or positively polar (even in the 'hot' tub)! The slides were a lot of fun and the pool stayed open until 9pm every night, which was very popular with the teenagers.
The shop on site has all the basics, but for the last week we were there there was a pain au chocolat shortage ! If you bought your bread there in the morning you queued half and hour. We soon discovered it was actually quicker to walk to the boulangerie in the village than it was to queue on site.
In nearby Mer, on the other side of the river, was a big Super you which had everything you could need for self-catering.
On site Keycamp had three of their new tree-houses. These looked very impressive. One morning we noticed the occupants in the tree-house near us had finished their holiday and gone, and we knew that the new residents would not be there until 4pm, so a huge crowd of us snuk in for a good nosey. They were very lovely, if a little too high in the trees for my liking ! I think I'd have felt a little 'out of it' up there, as you tower over the rest of the site, and are kind of away from the evening atmosphere. No-one can walk past you and say 'good evening' if you're 25 feet up.
The site was around 30% Brits, and the same again of Dutch, with the rest being made up of Germans and French.
In the village is a lovely farm which makes cheese, grows blackcurrants for jam and juice and is also a vineyard. They have regular tours during the week which were free, and you can get quite tipsy on all the wine they keep pouring. We went back with the car a few days later and filled the boot with their lovely wine, which worked out quite cheap if you bought a 10 litre box (30 Euros), but not so cheap if you bought a bottle for 6 Euros. We bought lots of cheese too, which was gorgeous.
There are many chateaux in the area. Chambourd was just stunning, and it was free to wander around the grounds, which we did one evening. Blois, Cheveney and Amboise were also lovely chateaux within easy driving distance. The town of Blois is 20 mins away. We visited twice, and still did not get to see everything there. It is very good for restaurants in the evening if you fancy eating out. Orleans is just over an hour away, and is good for a day out to see all the historical Joan of Arc stuff.
We did not feel as though we did half of what the area had to offer, but we think the same every year, no matter which part of France we visit. If we returned here one day then we would definitely use this site again, as it was just perfect for what we like on holiday. Nice and quiet at night, so you can just sit out, with new friends, listen to the crickets, and enjoy far too much wine.

Spent two relaxing weeks here & thoroughly enjoyed it. Had a good sized pitch not far from one of the play areas - could see the château & pool complex.
Site kept clean & tidy with flowers & planting. Good toilet blocks & showers. Eventually discovered that some showers were hotter than others, so used those when able. All kept very clean.
Little shop on site selling baguettes, pain au chocolat, croissants etc. Also a pricey restaurant- didn't eat there, & a takeaway.
We took our own bikes and enjoyed the many local cycle routes - particularly a trip to the nearby Chambord. Cycle hire on site - very very expensive. You could almost buy 4 bikes for the cost of hiring them for a week.
Swimming pool area pleasant- the children loved it. Perhaps a few more sunloungers would be good? I often struggled to find one.
All in all a great site in the Loire, plenty to do on site and in the area. Would visit again.
