Stayed here for 2 nights with my hubbie & 2 kids.
Good for exploring surrounding area, Buxton etc.
Owners were helpful on arrival, we had electric hook up which were dotted around the field and we could pick where to pitch near a free hook up point.
As it says on the website you are in amongst the trees which the kids loved running around (before the rain set in!) The kids also loved the Donkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens.
It also points out on the website, and in previous reviews, that the toilet/shower block is not yet done therefore they have opened up 2 of the B&B rooms for use by the camping fields. There is only 1 toilet and shower in each of these, the sink in the mens was a tiny handwashing sink so impossible to have a proper wash. There are other toilets in the main building but no other showers, we gave in trying to have a shower in the end as everytime we tried there were people standing outside queuing in the rain. And the site wasn't even full.
All in all this has the potential to be a nice site but at £20 per night our experience was that the facilities were inadequate to charge this much.
Therefore I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.

Entrance to the site is behind B&Q on an long potholed single track lane. Surprisingly there is no sign to mark the campsite but rather a sign to the hotel which made things harder than they needed to be from the offset.
The site itself is pretty and set in between trees with a large courtyard for the hotel and cafe. The main problem with this site is that the owners don't seem to have ever been camping before and don't understand the challenges faced by campers and caravanners.
There are no bins provided on the site other than one large bin by the cafe that was already full when we got there.
There is no toilet block or shower block but instead the owners gracefully opened one junk filled chalet for the ladies and one equally junk filled chalet for the gents to use as a toilet/shower. This is a site with 30 caravans and even more tents so how they think just one combined toilet/shower per sex is enough beggars belief.
Added to this the solitary ladies toilet did not even have a lock on the door. One of the party asked if one could be fitted and was greeted by a vacant look from the receptionist followed by some illogical arguments against and finally a flat out refusal. Their argument was that there was a lock on the chalet front door so the toilet did not need one but with one toilet there was a regular queue and the ladies ( 2 of them pregnant) had to wait outside in the rain waiting for the toilet to become free even though there was a nice dry chalet to wait in on the other side of the door. There was one other toilet behind reception and a few more in the cafe (one of which did not lock) but these could not be used whilst the cafe was open).
The costs which are worded confusingly to seem cheaper worked out at about £19 a night. Very expensive for such poor facilities and customer understanding.
One redeeming point was that 2 members of the party decided to leave one night early. They asked for a refund of the days fees and it was granted without argument.
From a party of 11 most left unsatisfied.

Visited the site Easter weekend, site access through an industrial estate then a dirt track road, 2 miles out of Buxton on the A515.
The pitches are under tall trees and it rained both nights so did not get much sleep with continual drops of water.
The grass was in poor condition and very muddy, however they had had up to 4 feet of snow the day before so what can you expect.
There is some major refurbishment work going on to the holiday accommodation (but not the camping field) there was not much evidence of signs to show where the facilities were and there was a fair bit of debris lying around in the approach to the elsan point.
The good points are very pleasant owners willing to help with a flat battery There is a cafe on site and a nice bar and lounge area.
TV reception poor because of the proximity of the trees but should be fine with a satellite dish, should be a nice site when finished, £16 per night inc. EHU

We stayed at Staden Grange just before Christmas on a last minute booking with our motorhome. We had snow on the ground and a lovely winters weekend away. The site is very well managed and easy to find though the industrial estate (don't let this put you off as you can't see it from the site), down a lane and into the site. We parked in amongst tree's with hook up. The site has small zoo of rabbits, chickens and a couple of donkeys which our daughter loved. A great site for kids.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. As we were parking up we were asked if we wanted a cup of tea and also invited to a beer tasting evening in the main house.
We did not use the toilets or showers but from what we saw they were clean.
We will visit this site again.

Just returned from a very relaxing two day visit at Staden Grange, we were welcomed by Sarah at reception who directed us to the field on the entrance to this lovely B/B.
On the drive in you will notice wooded area's to the left and right of the drive, this is the camping area's we pitched on the left hand side (the EHU side)
This is where all the services were water, washing area and waste, also the building that will be the toilets when the owners restore it, even though the toilets were not open it did not have any affect on our stay as the two rooms supplied were fine if one was occupied there were more toilets in the main building.
As it was only me and the wife we only had one visit to the mini farm but did comment that we will bring our niece's to see it next time we visit.
Located just outside Buxton every thing was available if needed.
It was quiet when we stayed but I can only imagine that will not be the case when we return as this site has loads of potential and will be very popular when established.
Good location, good facilities, reasonably priced great for kids, very nice people.
Recommend early booking next year

Stayed here for one night early September with two family members in Folding Camper.
The site is easily accessed and easy to find if you use the nearby Focus-Do-It-All as a bearing.
Check in was friendly and the rates were low (£12 for one night with EHU, no awning). The pitches are set amongst well established trees, meaning there are no clearly marked pitches or boundaries. This was OK with low numbers, but at max capacity it could get a bit close.
There is no shower/toilet block, instead you use the facilities from one of the B&B rooms around the corner, which is a bit odd, but the standard is good enough.
There is a pot-washing lean-to just off the EHU field, with 2 sinks supplying warm (not hot) water, just warm enough to do the dishes.
The venue has nice views, if slightly interrupted by the cement factory in the near distance. They have a few friendly chickens & roosters that were quick to check for crumbs, which my daughter enjoyed. In a separate field there are some rabbits & Guinea pigs kept in hutches.
Didn't see the owners at all after checking in, they must be busy running the B&B.
There are no shops/pubs in walking distance, but there is a Sainsburys, Chip Shop and Pubs within a 5 minute drive.
In summary a decent site with an unusual arrangement camping amongst the trees. The place needs a committed toilet & shower block and the surrounding buildings and boundaries could do with being spruced up & made good. This would make it feel like more of a pleasant campsite as oppose to a B&B with a field round the back for campers.

On arrival we were greeted by the owners, who are lovely and very welcoming and were took to the field with the ehu. We were allowed to pitch where we wanted. We chose to stay near the road as it was raining and in case the field got very sludgey we wouldn't have to walk through too much. This was never a problem though as the weather got better and in daylight the field wasn't as bad as we thought. The campsite which is very picturesque consists of two fields in amongst very tall trees, one with ehu and one without. Even though the site was fully booked over the bank holiday there was so much room.
The bins and the water taps are located in the middle of each field. The waste disposal point is situated in between two buildings with a toilet next to it. There is no shower block at the moment but there is two bathrooms which would normally be used for the guest rooms. The campsite was full but we never had to wait to use the bathrooms. The floors got a bit mucky but that's to be expected but if there was a mop for the campers to use I'm sure every body would clean up after themselves. There are some more toilets in the main reception and in the tea room. There is a lounge area to use with leaflets about the area.
Now for the kids favourite part of the campsite, the rabbit and guinea pig field. One of the owners has about 20 or more rabbits and guinea pigs of all different breeds. We never saw the kids when we were back at the campsite as they couldn't wait to get back to them. The kids were allowed to hold the rabbits. One of the rabbits had four 3 week old babies. One of which hadnt been sold so we went camping and came home leaving a deposit on a baby rabbit. They plan to have a wide range of animals for next year including a donkey and some goats.
This campsite is going to be very popular with families and we can't wait til next year when they have got more animals but we will be going back again very soon. The site is 2 miles from Buxton and 12 miles from Bakewell which are both lovely places to visit. There is a Morrisons about a mile and a half from the site. Overall this relatively new campsite is very good with great potential for the future.

Stayed at Staden Grange for 2 nights in August and had a brilliant time. The owners and staff were extremely friendly and helpful and would go out their way to make your stay enjoyable. It is in a nice location, lovely countryside views and is only a few miles from Buxton, which I would recommend you visit. As the B&B has recently been taken over it has only been open for a few months so the B&B rooms are used for shower and toilet facilities, although temporary these are very nice. They have animals such as chickens and rabbits around the site which are rather cute. The site is well equipped for camping and caravans and generally have no complaints. Would definitely return in the future!

This campsite has lovely views and is very close to Buxton and a supermarket if that's what you want. The site is still in progress and as the owners are waiting for planning permission for the toilet facilities camping guests are able to use one of the unfinished guest room bathrooms. The ground is very uneven due to all the tree roots although this didn't spoil the experience.
On the down side the site is next to an industrial estate although there was no noise from this and tents can be pitched facing the opposite direction the train line and main road can be heard so take ear plugs for the night time. On the night we stayed a group arrived at 11pm and began pitching their tents very near us. Lights were flashing and instructions being shouted to each other as well as very load laughter. I did speak to the owner the following morning and she explained the other guests had missed their train resulting in them arriving late. While I appreciate these things happen load noise and lights till 12. 30pm did spoil our experience.

Well where to begin - I'm no spring chicken and have vowed for many years I would never ever go camping after having been subjected to it as a child every school holiday - well I was coerced into a one night stay somewhere nearby - so we both decided on Staden Grange based on the reviews that were already on this site we both felt the campsite showed promise (and it wasn't too far from home) We phoned ahead to make sure we wouldn't be turned away.
When we arrived we were both impressed with the facilities at the site and the potential as it is still in the early stages of the change over from hotel to campsite. The only downfall at the minute is the toilet facility - only one toilet/shower room for ladies ie unfortunately if someone is in the shower there is no toilet facility available but I'm sure they will rectify this as they seem very keen to progress the site.
On the upside if you have children there are several very cute chickens roaming free (looking for food) and a small pets corner to keep them entertained. The owner made a point of visiting all the tents etc to make sure there was nothing amiss and also for any suggestions to improve facilities and seemed genuinely interested in your opinion and suggestions.
Basically we will be going back and I might even be hooked on the old camping thing too. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay
