NOTE: in October 2014 UK Campsite's Administrator wrote: 'Hellesveor Caravan And Camping Site is under new management and they are undergoing several improvements to the site. '
Two years later I have just returned from a short stay. The new owners have transformed Hellesveor into an excellent campsite.
In fact, as an experienced camper I can honestly say it is one of the best small sites I have ever used. I rate it as 10/10 - full marks.
Andrew and Mel, the owners, live on site with their young children. I found them a really charming couple and they could not have been more friendly and helpful.
The site is well-maintained and cared for. The newly-built facilities block is well designed and very stylish. During my stay, the water was piping hot and supplies were regularly replenished. There are covered washing up sinks, a free freezer, and token-operated washing machine and clothes drier. There's a family bathroom as well as individual shower cubicles.
The site caters to family groups and couples - it is not for rowdy single-sex groups - so there is a noise curfew. On the nights I stayed it was very quiet after 10pm and I didn't hear traffic noise from the nearby road.
The location is very good indeed. Hellesvore Farm is within walking distance of St Ives and on bus routes from the town centre. It is effectively on the outskirts of St Ives but also conveniently near the junction of the B3306 and BB3311 roads - this means you can drive to the site without getting caught up in St Ives itself.
The access lane is signed from the B3306 road and is fine for small caravans.
For active campers, this campsite is a good base for walking - a footpath leads from the campsite directly to the South West Coast Path.
The site is on a very gentle slope but the pitches are level. The grass is well-kept and short but the soil is a bit stony in places so take rock pegs. There are EHU points around the edge of the field. During my stay there was an even mix of tents, camper vans and small caravans. Cars can be parked beside tents.
It was very windy on the last day of my stay and there was overnight rain. Being on high ground near the coast the site catches the wind but hedges, trees and buildings offer a bit of shelter. Despite the rain the site drained well and the grass didn't become muddy.
Dogs are welcome - there were several there during my stay - and the adjacent footpath is ideal for dog walking.
To sum up, this is a lovely little family campsite which is maintained to a high standard by its resident owners. I will definitely be visiting Hellesveor again and I highly recommended it. Truly outstanding.

Just discovered this site in the town of St. Ives at the top of the hill, could not believe how lucky I was. The owners Mel and Andrew are so friendly they create a lovely vibe to this smallish gem of a site.
Facilities are awesome, never seen any so tastefully beautiful, however, there are only two unisex loos with their own sinks and four sinks in communal space and couple of showers, a family room, a kitchen with freezer space for blocks but also food, washing machine etc. I know there is work going on on the periphery so I'm sure the facilities will be added to. At the moment they are small in number but perfectly formed.
There is a small overflow area where I camped and the main site over a stone stile or through a gate. The owners live in the cottage just behind the facilities so are right at the heart of the site. It has the wonderful feeling that you are just camping in their garden and it is dog friendly and camp fires allowed.
Behind the wall is a farm track which leads to the coast path.
There is a co-op at the top of the hill near the camp site and a bus stop and Tesco at the top of the town too.
It is quite a difficult location to find a site which is non regimented and overly expensive. This is neither.
Wonderful site run by a lovely family.

This is a lovely, well maintained, compact site on the edge of St Ives. Easy access to the town, either by walking or using the frequent and friendly bus service. Mel & Andrew, the hosts, are approachable, helpful and eager to please. The site is still undergoing modification and improvements which is an indication of the owner's commitment to it's future. The new toilet/shower block is superb - water the right temperature and always plenty of it, spacious washing up facilities, a communal freezer, and a washing machine and drier to use with tokens. Fairly level site with not much shade and hook up available for all 12 pitches. There are static caravans at the bottom of the area and wi-fi is available at a small extra cost. The coastal path adjoins the campsite and is surprisingly busy with walkers. This is a quiet site which suited us perfectly. We stayed for 18 nights and loved it. We'll be back.

I loved this site, the owners are lovely and so helpful. Very small site which is much better as not regimented. Shower block is gorgeous! Has washer and a fridge/freezer in washing area.
I must say a huge thank you to the owners as my husband dislocated his knee on the first night playing around on the beach which ended up him not being able to walk unaided, thankfully mel and Andrew had some crutches to hand, which was so handy!
Their children even came with ice for him bless them.
Will definitely be back hopefully next year, we also picked an amazing 5 days where the weather was so hot!

Myself and a friend stayed here 4-8th October. I was little concerned about a grass pitch to begin with but there was no need to worry. Very level and even after heavy rain it drained very well. The showers and toilets are new very clean and well thought out. Push button in the normal showers plenty of hot water. The family/disabled shower was not push button with loo and wash basin very roomy.
We did both the road walk into St. Ives and the coastal walk. Coastal walk which can be accessed from the site is a bit tricky underfoot but well worth it for stunning views. Caught the bus back both times.
The owners are very welcoming and friendly. Andrew made sure we had all the local information leaflets and offered any extra help if needed.
Overall for peace and quiet in a rural setting with easy access to coast and town it suited us perfectly. We will definitely be retuning.

Hellesveor campsite is a love small site for tents and Caravans. Itvhascacfew static caravans too. The owners are friendly and very helpful and can find out about things for you such as we were going somewhere where dogs couldn't and they looked for us.
There are local buses running every 20 minutes or so to St Ives and quite late too. There was also a path to walk to St Ives, this was lovely with views over the bay
They have a WiFi bench near the house.
The toilet block is brand new, with 2 toilets with basins. 2 sinks for washing and 2 showers. There is a room the other end for washing up and has a washing machine and tumble dryer. They are in the process of making a Disabled/family shower room with baby changing facilities. There were just 2 problems 1 was there could have been a socket in the wash area for hairdryers ectopic tobplug in, although there was for razors. Secondly if you were having a shower and someone did the washing up the shower would go to a trickle or stop. Something to do with pressure I was told.
We would definitely go back next year.

We have just got home after spending 10 nights at Hellesveor campsite. We had never stayed at the site before but we will certainly stay there again. Mel and Andrew made us feel very welcome and very attentive.
The static caravan was very clean and comfortable and the site itself is in a beautiful location. They have obviously spent a lot of care and attention to the site and caravans.
The site is close enough to St Ives to walk into town and to the beaches. K

We arrived in St Ives on Christmas Eve without booking anywhere in advance. We like to steer clear of the big sites and all of the small sites were closed. I left a message on Andrews phone but I didn't expect a reply as this site was also closed. Half an hour later Andrew called me back and said we were welcome to stay, even though it was not open as he and Mel had only recently bought the site and it was being renovated. We didn't know what to expect when we arrived but it was perfect and we had the whole campsite all to ourselves. Andrew opened one of the caravans so we could have hot showers. Later that evening Andrew and Mel popped over to our van with mulled wine and Christmas crackers! They are such a great couple and even though they were in celebrating Christmas themselves, they went out of their way to make ours special to. They have big plans for this site but I was pleased to hear they do not want Hellesveor to lose its charm. We left on Boxing Day having had the most amazing Christmas. This campsite is one to watch, I know it's going to be a real gem and only a 20 minute walk from the beautiful St Ives and beaches.

Stayed here for 3 nights in our motorhome. First impression was OMG what have I come to, but then once we got into the camping area it was well kept, hooked up very easy and the owner was very friendly indeed, perfect location, wonderful coastal path that leads to St Ives, very quite perfect location.
Negatives: Toilets, showers. Once settled I needed a shower after a long journey, so off I went to the shower block. Once in I nearly died, dirt, dirt cob webs, the shower itself dripped out and only stayed on for 20 seconds. There was another shower nearby that was electric much better, but a horrid mouldy shower curtain went round it so again horrid. Now this is a lovely campsite and it would not take much at all to overcome these issues, A good plumber to fix shower, bleach new floor re grouting job done.
When leaving the owner told me that she was retiring and it was being taken over, so I'm keeping a eye out for improvements as I love the site and location
