Spent couple of nights here whilst exploring Rutland Water. Pleasant hard-working couple run site, happy to chat but otherwise leave you alone and get on with their work. The early morning call from the Guinea fowl and ducks on site can wake you quite early, but isn't a problem really. Level sit, facilities on site are very basic and could do with updating but EHU for all to use if needed. Charges reasonable at £12/night without EHU, £14 with.

A quirky small site on a slightly eccentric working farm with unusual livestock. It made a great base for exploring Rutland Water with cycle path on the doorstep. We were not troubled by the dogs nor any of the livestock (although you might want earplugs for the cockerel). Single loo in same room as shower did mean crossed legs occasionally but even with a full site this was not a real problem. Icing on the cake was discovering that Mrs Hollingsworth sells an amazing range of rare breed meat at very good prices! Highly recommended and we would definitely go back.

The site is actually on the rutland cycle route which makes it a fairly good location, but there were some downsides; the dawn chorus from ducks, cockerels, peacocks, guinea fowl and geese started well before sun up. These little fellows left evidence of their presence everywhere. The adjacent road is sometimes a noisy racetrack. Some of the electric hookups are actually 13apm domestic sockets but (if you are prepared to use them) the site owner will lend you an adaptor.

We have just returned from our second visit to the site in two years, our group of eight were offered pitches in a small grassed area close to the barns. There are a number of peacocks, ducks and pigs close by, some of the birds are allowed to roam freely through the site, one of our friends brought her daughter last year who thoroughly enjoyed helping the campsite owner with the daily chores and meeting all the animals.
Ideally situated close to the south shore of Rutland, if you’re cycling, walking or wanting to explore the local area, the site makes the perfect base. This year we took a minibus into Oakham one evening for a meal which cost us £20 return (between 8). The facilities including a shower and one toilet are basic but work very well and are kept clean and tidy, what more do you need!?
The owner is both friendly, helpful and tolerant as this year she endured my guitar playing and our groups lubricated. Choral ensemble till the early hours of the morning! She also sells delicious rare breed meat reared on site so make sure you purchase some for the barby. We will certainly be back again next summer.

Small site on a working farm. Maybe 8 or 9 pitches, level well drained field which is split by a line of trees. Apparently one half is suitable for tents as the other side is too hard for pegs, so it is used by vans. Only the van half has EHUs. We never tried to see if we could get our pegs in, so didn't bother with EHU.
The toilet and shower were in a portacabin type building with a little kitchen attached. They are in the same room so if you're caught short and someone's in the shower then hard luck! I never used the shower but it looked like you had to be under 5' tall to fit under it. But the bathroom was clean enough.
Peacocks and various other domestic fowl wander around, making a variety of sounds, but it was amusing rather than irritating.
The dogs barked loudly but briefly on our return to the site in the evening, but nothing other than that
The owner gave a long lecture on how to use the recycling bins, she lost me so we brought our rubbish home!
Great location for cycling the rutland water path as its right outside the farm.
5min cycle ride to the village pub, food looked great, we had booked for the saturday night, but atrocious weather drove us home a day early.
The owner was friendly but disinterested. I'd forgotten the milk but she pointed us in the direction of the nearest shop 4 miles away! So don't forget anything if you haven't got a car! We would use this site again for brief stays in order to cycle the area

Nice site in great location. Rutland Water cycle path opposite, working farm, so expect to see animals, and yes ducks quack and the cockerel crows, but they are not to extremes .
We chose this site out of the C&CC book and went with friends of ours who travelled from Yorkshire and were made to feel very welcome. The children had a fantastic time and were encouraged to get involved with all the farm activities, including feeding the animals and walking the dogs.
Mrs Hollingsworth recommended the local pub and reserved a table for us for the Saturday night, and we enjoyed a good meal there .
In turn we recommended the site to other friends of ours who have since been and like us are planning to go again. We would have no hesitation in recommending this site to others.

A small site, 5 units. On a smallholding, level pitches, shower and loo with a kitchen next door with lots of hot water. There are ducks near the pitches but in an enclosure. We were not troubled by noise from the ducks or the owners dogs. A pleasant overnight stop or there is plenty to do for a longer stay, close to the village of Manton where there is a pub with food(10 minutes walk). There are lots of walks in the area, cycle paths and pretty villages.

Nice litle site with only room for about 4 vans. However, it is on a working farm so don't expect to get any sleep. The owners leave their dogs in the barn next to the pitches and they bark non stop all through the day and late into the night. As soon as it gets light the cockerel which is also in a pen next to the pitches crows for hours. On top of that you have a herd of peacocks wandering around the caravans meowing all the time. Facilities were adequate and scenery was great. Perfect site for exploring Rutland as long as you don't require peace and quiet and can manage with just a couple of hours sleep at night.
