Wow- ourselves and another 3 vans met up here for an 11 night stay. The site is super, nice roomy all grass pitches overlooking 1 of the 3 fishing lakes. The toilet and shower block was great -very clean and always hot water available, beautiful hanging baskets adorned the outside. Plenty of bins for rubbish and recycling.
The fishing lakes are well looked after and contain a good head of fish. The specimen lake gets busy especially at weekends which tells that it has a good reputation.
The owner and his grandson are really nice, genuine people that made us feel welcome, so much so that we're all returning in September for another week of fishing.

We have just returned from a 7 day holiday at this really lovely site. 3 great lakes to satisfy hubby, one of which is a specimen lake containing catfish and sturgeon as well as the usual suspects.
The new toilet and shower facilities are very good and the pitches have ample room for privacy.
Really quiet and peaceful yet ideally sited for days out to Stratford on Avon, Warwick, Daventry and Coventry.
The owner and his grandson are really nice people who make you feel very welcome.
Didn't want to leave!

All I can say is. Wow! This is a lovely camp site just off the tiny town of Napton. This is a very tidy and peaceful site.
When we arrived the guy who was on reception was driving around the pools and collecting money from the fishing but, we just chose a location and set-up he arrived and is a friendly guy and let us pay for the fishing at the same time.
The fishing there on willow lake was fantastic I had huge carp from around 5 pound to about 20 on the pole. Everyone else wasn't doing good on the rod and, everyone asked how I done it :p.
All in all a nice clean camp-site that isn't heavy on rules. Defiantly going again!

It would seem that an update to a 2013 review of this site is due. Here goes !
We have just returned from a four night stay here. Most reviews for sites/pitches these days concentrate on the weather, for which I believe nobody can be held responsible. So will get that out of the way first. The weather was sun, sun, sun, all the way. (As most probably it was, elsewhere in the country!)
This site is an anglers paradise, it is also a very good site for relaxing and peace and quiet. Should you not be an angler, then take with you whatever you feel, you need, to make your holiday away perfect, as no 'toys' are available to amuse you. It is that quiet. Napton On The Hill is a few mins in the car, or a gentle walk away. As the name suggests. It is hilly! Napton has a Post Office, and is also a general store, several pubs, and everyone is made welcome. We chose 'The Folly Inn', which is canalside, very busy, and serves good beer/cider etc, along with very good value meals, which are delicious and far to BIG! We talked to boaters, walkers, and sat under cherry trees watching the boats go through locks. The garden has gazeebo's over most picnic style tables, Wonderfull.
Back to the site. Whilst we were there, all new arrivals(Tents)were given the choice of either 'lakeside' or 'meadow' for pitching. Meadow being the choice for families, it seems. Freedom of choice is offered, and it is very refreshing to be able to select your spot. Caravans, Motor Homes, campervans and Trailer tents were given pitches (if EHU required)or were told ' somewhere between the two larger trees, of forward of the small tree, how nice. The site is 'Park Like' and is clean and tidy. It is ( certainly whist we were there ) a friendly place, with none of the usual rules of, you are not in line with other 'vans, tents, or whatever. Everyone seemed to have all of the space they needed, and were not intruding on one another. Recycling bins are sited at the entrance to 'the park' along with the reception office, and toilet/shower facilities. Here also is the 'elsan'disposal point, drinking water, and washing out water (or indeed dog washing water)A washing up room/laundry room is at one end of the facilities block. The toilets and showers are cleaned twice a day, very early morning, and then again late afternoon. The site owners cannot be blamed for the inability of campers, between those times, to use the toilet brush provided, to brush around the bowl! Use the bins provided within the toilet cubicle, or that beside the hand wash basins. Why on earth do people just drop empty packs of shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste tubes etc on the floor. Plus I am sure that if the toilet paper provided, was charged for, it would not be trailed around the floor.
This site is very good, great for families, and couples alike. We shall be going again, in the not too distant future, come rain or shine.

Although it has been sometime since I stayed at Dog Lane Fishery I thought I'd still write a review.
Booking is very easy, just give Eddie a call and he'll confirm your booking.
Pitches are large and at quiet times you can choose your own pitch. When we stayed the toilet/shower block was very tired looking but were clean with plenty of hot water.
A short walk from the campsite is the village shop etc.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxed campsite then this is the one for you. A must for a weekend country retreat.

I realise that this review goes against the grain however I have to review the site as we experienced it. The pitch was ok however we were told to pitch up in a specific place which to our disappointment included a couple of quite deep holes which were under the living area of our tent. The field itself however was spacious.
The toilet facilities were at best basic. They were far from clean most of the time.
The worst was yet to come however. Having paid for an electrical hook up we were shocked to have the electric (on the whole site) trip out on countless occasions. There were a number of loud tents partying throughout the night with large awnings with what I can only describe as chandeliers hanging from the roof which continued to trip the fuse. There was no one on site to complain to however it appeared that the party tent knew the owners and kept running to the toilet block to reset the fuse trip switch. We lost electricity at least 10 - 15 times over one night.
Then another tent started a bonfire ( not just a BBQ) but a full blown bonfire with the embers floating across our tent.
It was the night from hell.
I realise that the campsite are not to blame for the activities of the individuals however they appears to be on very good terms with the owners and with there being no one on site to keep an eye on things it appears to be a common gathering.
Apart from that the site was OK but very very basic, .

We only had a one night stay but found the site to be Good value for camping and fishing, we never left the site however heard there was a nice pub locally which does food also.
Onsite facilities were nice and clean, nice burger van on site,
Fishing was good also, willow lake saw us pull in over 40 in one day ranging from small roach/perch to bream and 8lb carp which kept the kids happy, never fished grebe lake however did walk round it and will be returning minus the kids to have a night on it.
Overall great little site if you want a weekend away camp/fish.

Stopped here august bank holiday weekend. We will be returning
Fantastic site in a great location.
We stopped in the field nearest the fishing lakes and had a great time, nice flat LARGE pitches, good facilities (showers, toilets, washing up, washing machine) the on site snack wagon was a welcome bonus selling standard breakfast fair of egg, bacon, sausage etc, they also sell authentic Thai currys on a friday saturday and sunday evening for £5 a pop with rice
The guy who runs/owns the site is a lovely man as is his wife.
If you enjoy tranquil surroundings in a beautiful parts of the world for the grand sum of £10 a night (weekdays, £12 weekends) then give it a go, we are already planning our next visit in the spring.

The weather was awful and the camping area was very boggy, we got stuck in the mud and pitched in horrendous rain. The field drained pretty quick despite the weather and we really enjoyed our stay here.
The showers were clean but the conditions meant that they got dirty very quick, a mop and bucket is available to clean the wash area on leaving.
Overall good value for money, great burger van (on the day we packed up this was really handy), and the owners were really nice and helpful, plus it was not too rule bound.
Although close to the road we didn't find the noise a bother and at night relatively quiet.
The only room for improvement would be the toilets could be cleaned more regular during bad weather / heavy use and some handwash would have been great
Other than that a great site that we will visit again.

The site is lovely and quiet - and wasn't very busy for the week leading up to Easter. I left just before everyone was due to arrive for the weekend - and a big fishing competition. I was on hook up for an extra £3 per night. Total £13 per night.
Facilities have been described in other reviews and are fine. You can take different way marked walks across the fields from there - and also a short walk around the lake on the site itself.
I was able to drive 4-5 miles up the road towards Daventry to get WIFI at the excellent and friendly Skylark farm shop and cafe!
The toilet and shower block at the site were heated which was welcome - but because it was quiet - they were not really serviced (quite understandable). I would recommend leaving a bucket and mop with some disinfectant in there and perhaps a soap dispenser by the sinks? I would have been happy to mop up the floor in the shower area - it is bound to get a bit muddy when weather is wet.
Overall -it is a great 'get away from it all' place - relaxing and no too 'rule bound' - set in stunning countryside with a friendly but unobtrusive owner.
