Just had five nights at Windmill Farm Caravan Park.

Could not fault it for peace and quiet.

Large grass pitches with EHU. So relaxing just watching the wildlife or sitting in the shade with a rod in hand by the lake.

Not birdwatcher's but we saw a Sparrowhawk sitting on its nest over the lake. Oystercatchers and Moorhens walking round the motorhome. Kestrels in the nest box by the river and a pair of Avocent cranes.

New shower block is spotless and Simon a great host.

Can see why so many take long breaks here and will be going back asap.

What an absolute gem of a site. First time for us and will definitely not be the last,

So peaceful and the site staff cannot do enough for you.

Was on one of the hard standing pitches and by gum it is hard! You definitely need rock pegs for your awning.

There are plenty of walks from the site and is right by a lovely nature reserve, fishing in the pond is free with a few nice size carp, tench etc plus an odd pike or two, a brand new toilet block with toilets, disable toilet, showers plus kitchen area with microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.

There is a little road noise during the day and quite a bit during rush hours, not much as it is a country road, but by 7pm it's a quiet as the grave.

Been visiting here for over 10 years and it has to be the best value site we know of.

Already low price including hook up plus FREE FISHING in the lake, carp to double figures.

The new shower block is a massive improvement well heated with plenty of hot water.

Plenty of walks with loads of wildlife to spot right next to the site, saw deer, hares, rabbits and lots of different birds on our last walk.

We’ve been visiting this site for a number of years now and have always loved it, but wanted to add now a fantastic new toilet/shower block with disabled facilities too along with dishwashing facilities and laundry too!

It has made a huge difference and looks so posh!

Although we loved the site anyway this will be a great asset to anyone now wanting to camp too.

Lorraine is a lovely warden and the site is kept well maintained and landscape by Simon, we will carry on be long life customers.

Just popped down for a couple of days, which turned into a week. Fabulous welcome and very very friendly caravaners. Yes I know we have been before but right from our 1st visit the other ' seasonal vans' were always friendly. The 'grass roots' fishing is 1st class, not a big pond, but some good double figure carp in there. I know because I caught one while Lorraine was chatting to us. Great site for visit Bourne, Market Deeping, Spalding etc etc.

We like to go between the two sites in Baston, as I have said before they are so so different from each other. Sheltered somewhat from the nasty fen winds. Road noise is not a problem, yes you can hear some vehicles BUT it is not intrusive.

This site really made me think about my views on it. The owner when contacting about a pitch was really lovely but we never got to meet her as she went on holiday. The site is a large rectangle of luscious green grass with some hard standings and the fen road to get to it is very bumpy so beware. It is in the middle of the fens and in a very beautiful setting. It has EHU and water for aquarolls conveniently placed. It is a reasonable price too. We were greeted by a stand in who was very friendly. The facilities are through a part of the farm yard and have seen better days though not dirty and cleaned fairly well. We didn't use the showers as they didn't look that inviting. The washing up facility was under a roof cover and because it was up against the barn under trees was well sheltered. The chemical waste & water disposal were adequate. Free wifi too very commendable. The reason I am having to think is because of some of the other things. The road is close and whilst not a main road there was traffic and it was noticeable. Not so much at night but you certainly heard the odd car that went down it. The hard standings were full of what was clearly seasonal pitches. There were 2 empty ones but we were directed to a grass pitch which was fine. However there seemed to be a bit of bad blood between a couple of the seasonals and you could feel it. We did speak to the man who greeted us who was nice and another chap approached us to ask about our BBQ point. The rest just sat in their vans and when they did go out didn't acknowledge you or respond if you waved. So if you like that sort of total solitude go for it. The man who mows the grass does a wonderful job as it really is well kept and luscious BUT he mowed whilst we were there and decided to mow in the gap between our van and some bushes on the side of our power lead, aquaroll and waste hog. No he didn't damage any but it was close as this was a sit on ride mower. We weren't amused as you can guess and could not understand why he needed to do it.

So would we go again? A good question. I think if there was something on in the area that we wanted to go to and stopped a couple of nights but not for any other reason. It's a shame as it's a nicely kept site but there was something wrong with the atmosphere which I have never felt before.

Another week spent here, peace, quiet, and relaxing. Can't go wrong. Well worth a visit. The two sites that are in Baston are totally different, chalk and cheese, . But we LOVE them both.

This site is surrounded by trees which block some of the strong ' fen ' winds, . There are some big fish in this small pond, and a good variety, I caught a crusian carp, bream, tench and a grass carp of 5lb, In one day. So plenty to keep you occupied. Free fishing and free wifi are a big plus too.

Thank you Lorraine, see you soon.

One word of warning. BEWARE of the uneven roads leading to this site, if you like white knuckle rides, then go more than 20mph. And that is without towing the caravan. It is frightening if you go to fast.

What alovley little site. Caravans are well spaced out. Plenty of room. Fishing is good with a mixed bag of fish

Toilets clean, plenty of hot water. Shower are spot less

The warden is very helpful nothing to much trouble

The only down side is the noise from the near by road

Booked here for 3 nights. Ended up for 7. Very very peaceful location site, totally surrounded by trees that block out most of the ' fen winds'. The fishing is completely different to the big 'carp lakes'. Grass roots fishing with a few big fish into double figures. I really enjoyed the change. The hardstanding plots are very big, enough for a car, caravan & awning. Lorraine is really helpful and a lovely lady. I found out some river fishing about 10-15 mins drive away. A must place to go is Springfields, the gardens are superb, you can get the river taxi into Spalding and back for £6p. P. Parking at the centre is £2 for over 2 hrs. Spalding itself it a lovely town, with plenty of independent stores. A wonderful market with excellent fruit & Veg. Toilet / shower block is dated and in the 'farm yard' itself, as we use our own facilities, I can't comment any further. Adult only, which is a blessing, You are quite a. Long way out from any shop, So stock up Well if you don't want to go out every day. We will go back again.
