Had booked 4 nights here, but soon decided to extend it to 8! This site is in a lovely location, next to the river and with wonderful views of the castle. We arrived at end of August as site was getting quieter, but were told that it had been very busy the previous week! There are two toilet and shower blocks - we much preferred the newer one. Weather was amazing but plenty of trees for shade. Excellent location for sightseeing - Castlenaud, Gardens of Marqueyssac, Domme, Sarlat, canoeing on the Dordogne, Lascaux and much more. Would definitely go back!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in July.
We could not fault this site. Lovely big pitches. Toilrts and showers were clean all of the time.
Pool was lovely and a good size. Little bar where you could use free Wifi.
Very friendly and relaxing atmosphere.
Location was great and easy to stroll into town.
Take a canoe and have a picnic on the river, a brilliant day out. We also hired cycles for the day.
Owners very helpful

We might have been satisfied with this site if we hadnt visited our friends down the road at campsite maisoneuve near castelnaud as it was a far better campsite.
We found the facilities especially play areas for our 10 year olds inadequate the small playground was only suitable for under 6. The site was busy and mainly of English people but it was August hols. The nearby beach wasn't very nice.
On the plus side the location was good and we had paid extra for a fabulously large and shadey pitch with space for our hammocks. Some pitches were not so good and suffered from road noise and no noise. The pool is a good and plenty of sunbeds.
We would not return and only recommended for those with children under 6 or with no kids outside school hols. Also pick your pitch.

Just returned from 8 days lounging next to the Dordogne as the second half of 15 days camping in southern France.
Le Capeyrou is set in a stunning location with the impressive views of the Chateaux and where we were pitched we were able to watch the canoes meandering down the river. An added bonus is being woken each morning by the sound of hot air balloons taking off from the adjacent field.
The campsite is busy, but that is what we expected for August. It is a family campsite and our 6 and 8 year olds had a fabulous time in the excellent play areas.
The facilities were great with only one evening with water a little slow in the showers. However, you can forgive this as it was spotlessly clean and always stocked with loo paper!
There are good shops across the road and the site bar is good with some entertainment and occasional guest cooks; Thai etc.
If there was any criticism it is that the pool area has no shade with temperatures in the 30s.
This is a well run site and with plenty to do nearby we will certainly consider another visit.

Our initial impression of this campsite is that it was extremely crammed in and crowded. It is in a stunning location on the Dordogne river, but the beach on the river is fairly grotty. The pool was big and clean, but again, pretty crowded. Lots of the pitches were right on top of each other and had very little shade. If you're looking for a busy crowded campsite with clean facilities, this is for you. If you want peace and tranquillity I would go elsewhere. (We went to the municipal down the road which was lovely. )

After winter research, found this and booked ourselves a pitch by the river. Sadly weather was not with us! And - Everyone who walked the river footpath said hello as they passed!
We moved during our 10 day stay to a pitch at the end of the site. Bliss - watch balloons ascend at dawn on the neighbouring field, more space. This was all with the blessing of the owners. Who have a lovely sense of humour, and
Wonderful people skills
Couldn't wish for a better site. Photo from the castle above is now my PC wallpaper at work.
Immaculate maintenance, fabulous infinity pool - met some lovely people.
What excuse can I use to go back that far south next year? !

This is a super site in a stunning area, right by the banks of La Dordogne in Beynac, and makes a great base to explore the valley.
On site, where else do you wake up to see hot air balloons soaring majestically overhead?
I've put up a full report on our holiday, with pics, see 'Back from Beynac' in the Camping Abroad forum.
There is a gate giving access to the river path, and launch areas nearby. Canoe rides can be booked at reception.
The shower and loo block we used were very good with regular cleaning. Although the site was busy we never had to wait for a loo or a shower. There is another block nearer the entrance.
There is a bar and shaded area and free wi-fi beside it.
There is no shop on site but right opposite is a suberb bread and pastry shop, plus a butchers and a general/food store. Great for your morning croissants.
All types of camping units were in evidence, and guests were singles to extended families of all ages, mainly Dutch, French, and Brits.
Pitches vary in size and shade. We specifically asked for a sunny pitch, and we certainly got one. With temperatures ranging up to 35C the pool was a godsend. It has a stunning view of the chateau.
We'll certainly return to the area and have asked for details of 2014 bookings for the site.
Highly recommended.

This was our 2nd visit and we will definitely return next year.
The site is rated as 3 star which is very under rated in my opinion as we visited a 4 star close by out of interest and to compare.
Capeyrou was much better kept than the 4 star and the only reason I can think of it not having a higher rating is the lack of a shop, takeaway facilities. However all that you need is directly opposite the site. General store, bakery which sells the best croissants ever and the butchers as well as eat in or takeaway place behind the shops. This sells sandwiches, pizzas, that sort of thing.
I can highly recommend the cooked chicken and potatoes from the boucherie / charcuterie, really lovely when you don't want to cook.
This year we travelled around and visited Sarlat on a few occasions, massive market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Beynac has a small local produce market every Friday.
We loved Sarlat. Buzzing town with so many places to eat.
We visited Domme which is a small medieval village just a few miles from the site with an amazing view point looking for miles down over the Dordogne river.
Rocque Gageauc was very like Beynac. A little village on the Dordogne running boat trips. We English had a recorded text via headphones giving us commentary on the places we passed on the river.
All in all this is by far the best site we have visited. Well run, well kept. Good facilities. While we were there there was a good mix of French, British and Dutch campers. We were there late June /early July and the site was fairly busy but not crammed full. Weather was hot for most of it and the pool and cold beer were a very welcome treat.

Had a few nights here on a recent trip, lovely site as has been said before. Just opposite the site is a small supermarket, a bakers and a good butchers. The butchers does spit roast chickens and potatoes, order it in the day and give him a pick up time before he shuts at 7. 30 and it will be hot for you wrapped in a foil container. He is shut sunday and monday.
I have forgotten what night but a sushi man came and set up one night on the site by the bar, nice food. Wifi available around the bar area. View to die for. Pool looked nice.
We had electric bikes and cycled to chateau castlenaud and then on to La Roque.

What a wonderful site. We turned up 'on spec' and were told we could have a pitch for one night, no problem. When we asked about paying we were told to drive in, pick our pitch, then go back and say where we were. Well, we found a pitch alongside the river, with a view of the castle and asked to stay for two. I wish it had been longer. Hedged pitches, clean showers, bar on site, shops directly over road. Short walk along river to lovely little town. Children's play area and swimming pool, neither of which we used. Ideal location for exploring area. Wifi available
