We absolutely loved this site. Really well maintained and managed. Whilst we were there, every time you went to the toilet block it was being cleaned. As mentioned many times before the owners are very friendly and helpful but all the staff seemed friendly as well.
The pitches are a good size. We had one of the extra large sites which was enormous. We were there with teenagers and they liked the site but equally it would be excellent for families with young children with the pool and a lovely sandy play area. In fact I really think it's suitable for everyone/anyone.
We were there before the really busy period and although nearly completely full, at night it was not at all noisy. In fact very calm and peaceful.
The shops across the road are excellent. Good butcher and baker and small shop selling veg, cheese and all other necessities like wine! Very short walk along the riverside to Beynac which is lovely. Just perfect in other words.

Have just return from 2week stay. Best campsite we have visited so far. Our kids loved it and were in the pool every day or playing on the play equipment. Not all pitches have shade but we were lucky to have a very shady pitch we had requested before we got there.
All pitches seem quite private and are fairly large. Toilet and shower facilities were unisex and in our opinion could have been cleaned a little more often considering how busy it was. Pool area was kept clean as was the whole site, on a regular basis.
Owners were very approachable and keen to help with any issues. Would definitely recommend this site and would visit again if we were to go back to the Dordogne.

Lovely campsite well situated on the banks of the Dordogne, within walking distance of Beynac and with views of the castle.
Large, shady hedged pitches.
Facilities excellent and clean. Washing and ironing facilities.
Lovely swimming pool not always open before 10 a. M.
Excellent shops just across the road.
Bar open most of the day and evening, sometimes food available.
Canoe hire can be arranged from reception.
Excellent for children.

Eerything good about this site has been said. We stayed there for 2 weeks in late May. The weather was bad and we were on flood warning for about 3 days but the owners kept us informed. We have nothing negative to say about the site, the owners spoke good english, and info was readily available, will stay again if in that area. Plenty of water points and the showers were always clean and hot. The local doctor sorted out the wife's tooth abcess. Free wi- fi in the bar

Felt I had to review this site as it's the best we've ever been to, though I can't really add much more than has already been said.
Our pitch had a perfect view of the castle. The car was virtually parked up for the time we were there as Beynac itself was such a beautiful place we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else.
Showers and toilets were perfect even though unisex. Pool was fantastic and really needed as the weather was very hot.
Great friendly owners. Heaven on earth for us.

A very nice peaceful and relaxing campsite with beautiful views towards Baynac castle and over the Dordogne river. The campsite was quiet and a pitch had been reserved for us in a nice spot but we were able to literally choose where we wanted to camp.
Pitches were very spacious, plenty of room for our tent plus the porch, plenty of space around with hedges between the pitches for privacy. The weather was bordering on hot but there waS adequate shade to be found from the plentiful trees.
There are 2 toilet blocks (unisex) with ample showers, hair dryers, wash basins and toilet facilities, washing up areas, washing machines, iron etc. Only part of the main block was open as the campsite was nowhere near fully occupied, but this never posed a problem in the slightest.
The swimming pool area was first class with a large pool and a small pool for young children, plenty of seats, loungers and brollies. A nice bar area was available with inside and outside patio area, all well kept.
On the whole the site was clean, well manicured and very pretty. There were 2 nice play areas for children but out of season these were little used but I can imagine for families over the holiday period this would be a lovely holidaying place. Both the owner and his wife were very pleasant and accommodating.
Across the road is a small supermarket, bakery and butchers, shops in Baynac all available to supply most of what you would need, Sarlat about 10 miles away has 3 large supermarkets. There is a restaurant next door but we didn't use it as it was only open on weekends while we were there.
A walk up to the castle is a must but it is quite a stiff climb especially on a hot day, but well worth it. We walked from the campsite along the river to Castlenaud and had a lovely meal in the restaurant at the base just at the end of bridge, food was very good and would recommend, especially if you like duck and sampling local produce.
Sarlat was well worth a visit, very pretty, sadly we missed the famous saturday market but hopefully you won't.
I am loathe to have a negative at all and the only grumble would have been if we had taken our first pitch (which was delightful with probably the best view) but at the closest point to the road on the campsite which at certain times could be busy and in a tent would have been a bit irritating (OK in caravan or camper) but once we relocated to pitch 1 next to river and far back from road this was fine. There are also 2 ready built camping (glamping) tents set up which can also be hired if you fancy camping but don't want to buy all the gear.
I will probably go back again and would definitely recommend this site to anyone else.

We spent 12 nights at this campsite in mid July. What can I say it has all been said. A great welcome and told not to worry about paying balance until the next day.
Our pitch was at the far end of the Campsite which was fine by us, as it was much quieter. We had quite a lot of rain which you have to expect sometimes in the Dordogne but our pitch drained well and I did not see other pitches flooded. The whole site was clean and tidy. The owners and their staff were always clearing up any stray litter and mowing the pitches as soon as they were vacated.
The toilet and showers were clean even though it was busy and I never waited for a shower.
During our stay we saw mainly Dutch and French on site and only a few Brits, but it was before our schools broke up.
My two teenage kids loved the Bar area where they could get free Wifi and the drinks were not overpriced in comparison with other bars we have experienced on sites in France.
Beynac is a lovely village and is worth the walk to the top. There is plenty to do and see in the area.
This is a truly friendly, family campsite with direct access to a path running along side the dordogne which takes you to a river beach. There are shops opposite the entrance to the site where you can buy basics (though we could not get on with the Artisan bread)and supermarkets are about 10 kilometres in either direction. There are restaurants in the village.
We would not hesitate to use this Campsite again if we go back to the area.

Absolutely fantastic site! We went last year for a week and that was not long enough, so we booked for 2 weeks this year. We had requested a specific pitch with fab views of the château and grass space for the children to play. We were looked after very well and received our requested pitch, we just didn't realise how litte shade there was! Our purchase of a tarp was much appreciated! (Lots of other pitches have shade of trees) Had very hot days - 34 degrees +, but also had a couple of rainy days. This has to be expected in such a green and luscious area of France. Thomas and Marja are the owners and often go around the site ensuring everyone is ok, they make you feel very welcome.
Toilet and showers fab - cleaned regularly. Children's wash room which makes life a lot easier! Useful shop and boulangerie across the road, is a busy road though and the continental pedestrian crossings still puzzle me! Lovely pool area and plenty of chairs and loungers to use.
Highlight of holiday was the sound of the Mongolfiere first thing in the morning and on a clear evening. Some great photos of them and the children loved Mongolfiere spotting! Just don't see hot air balloons where we live!
Short walk in to Beynac town, well worth a walk up to the Château although very steep and not very suitable for pushchairs - you can drive up or walk up the road way. Lots to see and do in the area - a visit to Domme is a must to see the views, but go early as parking is limited. Canoeing is great for all the family, we just did the 5km one as our children are young but that was just about the right length.
Just love this site, has a good feeling to it, feel safe, nice mix of nationalities - French, Dutch, Belgian, English. We made some good friends whist there and the children have new e-mail pals! In the cool Camping book and we can see why - just idyllic! Highly recommend, and we may see you there next year!

We really enjoyed our time at this campsite and would echo everything said about the setting. Washrooms always clean and coped well with a full site. Swimming pool beautiful although a little cold. We were pitched near the river and the traffic noise was not an issue. The site does have a really lovely large bar area, it is a real shame they do not sell food as the setting is beautiful.
We have a Montana 6 with extension and it only just fitted onto the pitch with little room to spare and for me with the site full we all seemed a little to close together, I would have preferred a little more space between the pitches.
There are one or two restaurants within walking distance they did seem a little pricey and quite formal although there was a pizza cafe across the road behind a few small shops, pizzas were good but setting could have been nicer.
The atmosphere on the site was great and you could hear a pin drop by 10 o'clock at night.
My girls age 6 and 7 loved the site and I would recommend it for families with young children.

Very pleasant at reception, even prepared to waive the 2 Euro balance outstanding which, despite being Scottish by birth I insisted on paying. Were allocated a pitch but instructed to return if it was unsuitable. With a spectacular view of the nearby castle we accepted it. Site situation excellent, despite road on one side we did not find traffic noise intrusive, with the Dordogne (I think) on the other providing walks/canoeing if you like. The toilet blocks were ample and clean, there is a good mini-market and bakery across the road from site entrance. The nearby village, about 10 - 15 mins walk, is exceptionally picturesque, but with steep, mostly pedestrianised, streets.
Would like to return.
