The site was easy to find being on the same site as a sports complex. It is advisable to pre-book as the site gets very busy and they had no vacancies for motor homes while we were there. This was primarily because the site was former marshland and gets boggy very quickly, so they only use their hardstanding pitches this time of year. Reception was very friendly, spoke excellent English and gave us lots of information. What they did omit to mention was that they turn off the water supply to the serviced pitches during the winter, but we assumed we could use the tap at our pitch and after setting up found we couldn't! Wifi was available free and all over the site.
Unfortunately I think there was a rugby function on while we were there, with very loud music still going strong at 3am on Saturday morning! It was a lot better on the Saturday night though. It is a big site, divided off into sections for tents, caravans/motor homes and wooden chalets. There is a small stretch of wooded area especially for dogs to use, which joins a track at the top and runs along the busy main road.
As others have said, it is cheaper to buy a ticket for the bus from the supermarket on site. It is a €14 swipe card containing ten credits. Dogs can travel on the bus for free (we had Hungarian Vizslas so not restriction on size of dog!). Buses run 3 times an hour, 4 times an hour at peak times and you need the number 38 or 39. The journey took around ten mins and we got off in the old part of the city. Gent is a large city with lots of shops, eateries, churches, a castle and other historical buildings.
My only minor niggle was although there were bins absolutely everywhere, none of them were big enough to take a decent size bag of rubbish, so we still had to use the main bins further down the site at the moan block. That said, we would definitely stay here again. Rate for one night, 2 adults, 2 dogs and electric was €25.

Had a very good week at this site. Friendly helpful staff, campsite shop ok for fresh bread but little else, may have been the late season.
Travel into Gent easy on the bus and if you buy a 10 trip ticket only 1 euro each way, tickets at campsite shop. Gent is lovely for eating and drinking but prices a little high, two mains and two drinks 45 to 50 euro, food is generly very good.
Travel to WW1 sites in Belgium and France is also very good from this campsite, so an excellent base if like us that was part of your visit.

This campsite is not a current member of ACSI so no discount is allowed late September for 2 persons in a motorhome is 25 Euros. Restaurant only open lunchtime 12-2. Shop has very little stock. Toilets/ showers very tired looking but clean. Long hook up leads needed. Otherwise good. There is night time noise from the nearby motorway and rail track. This place is losing its sparkle. Although Ghent is vey good either 20 mins on the bus 2 euros each way or 55 min walk or 20 min bikes. Book ahead for motorhome to get hardstandings.

This site was very convenient for a 2 day visit to Ghent, but as others have mentioned the noise from the nearby ring road meant we didn't want to stay any longer. The site is large but well split up into smaller sections and pitches with hedges which made it feel smaller than it was. Access to Ghent via the bus is excellent, as is access to the lake and sports complex. However we suffered greatly with mosquito bites - not sure if this was time of year or proximity to lake? We didn't use the restaurant but shop was well stocked and the takeaway was good quality. They now have free WiFi across the whole site.

This site is situated on the outskirts of Ghent just a short bus ride from the centre. Bus tickets are cheaper bought from the site shop than on the bus.
Getting to the site is straightforward, but the last mile through the sports complex is fiddly – follow the signs. Our plot was enough for a caravan and car, but with an awning it would be tight. Also a cable longer than 25 metres might be required in busier times.
The facilities are dated but clean. Everything is provided including washing machines and ironing boards. There was always plenty of hot water.
On site there is a café/restaurant and a takeaway for chips and snacks.
Nearby (200 metres) there is a large lake with beach and plenty of walks.
For caravan, car and 2 adults we paid about Euro 25 a night. Pay on leaving.
Wi-Fi is available, but at a cost and only near reception. We used MacDonald’s in Ghent by the bus stop for Wi-Fi (free) and toilets (50 cents).
A good site for a short stay.

Our 7 night pitch was in a central, hedged area with around 5 other caravans, motorhomes and on one occasion a trailer tent. Luckily, we were next to the electric hook up. For those of a sporty nature, the site has lots of facilities as it doubles up as Ghent's Leisure Complex. It has most team games plus Tennis, Table-Tennis, BMX biking, an Eddy Merck's Velodrome, a 2Km rowing lake & an outdoor gym area. They also staged a triathlon on the Sunday morning. It also has an enclosed 'paddling' area with a Lifeguard on duty, climbing wall/Zip wire and smaller children play areas. Hot showers are free and were pleasantly clean.
It is an easy cycle ride into the centre of Ghent, if you head for the Velodrome, through the Leisure Complex, you can follow the canal into town without using any main roads. There are free maps in reception, although we found the USE IT maps provided for younger travellers highlighting the sights and places to eat in Ghent most useful. Like most campsites, the on-site shop is small and expensive, but there are plenty of Supermarkets/Minimarkets less than a 5 minute drive away:- Carreforre, Aldi, Lidl etc.
We were surprised when we came to pay as it was less than we had been quoted for when we booked!

We stayed 2 nights here in very hot weather in August 2013. We were wary as we prefer smaller sites, but this one is well laid out and you don't feel you are in a big site.
Our pitch was in a hedged area, good shade and sun, with around 5 other vans. The electric hook up was quite a way off, we had to borrow an extension cable from reception which was no bother. The site has lots of facilities, it was pretty full when we were there but there were no queues. Showers in the ladies were a bit cold, but apparently they were fine in the gents and we were told by other campers that they are usually good so perhaps there was a problem.
The main reason we stayed here was the fresh water swimming lake - it was so hot we needed somewhere to swim. It was great, packed out on day one, but much quieter after that as the weather cooled a bit. The kids loved the slides. The dog wasn't allowed on the beach, but could swim in the lake on the other side. We walked all the way round, and up a small look-out tower which gave great views across the area.
It is an easy cycle ride into Ghent, there are free maps in reception to show you the way. It's a lovely town, which we enjoyed even more than Brugge. There are lots of good walks and cycles in the woodland around the site.
We thoroughly enjoyed the site, and were very pleasantly surprised when we came to pay (you pay as you check out) as it was less than 25 Euros per night for 4 of us with electricity and a dog. We'd definitely recommend it.

The site it's self was OK, bad drainage smell, the pitch had water and electric we didn't use the toilet block
We had intended staying for 8 nights but after 3 nights the constant traffic noise robbed us of a good nights sleep The noise didn't stop with the traffic the coming and goings of the sports facility only compounded the lack of peace
The shop was well stocked with fresh bread daily and the staff were friendly
Pity about the noise as we would have liked to visit Ghent as planned

Ideal for families as the lake would keep most children happy if the weather is good. Also a small lake for under 6 year olds plus climbing frames, water slides etc. All overseen by life guards. There were 2 café / bars by the lake and one on the main site which served OK food and a good range of beer. The toilet blocks were a bit dated and could have done with a good clean and the shower floors became very dirty from the sand on peoples footwear. Our pitch was the disappointment for us as, although a good size, it was very noisy compared to most we've stayed at so far. We asked to move but were given the 'not possible' answer so endured the noise from the dual carriage way about 100 meters away behind the trees. We were also next to the 'facilities' block where the recycling bins were located and people demonstrated their skills in making as much noise as possible, at all times of the day, when disposing of bottles. The waste collection commenced at 7-8am every day and they left their engines running for up to 15 minutes while they, we suspect, had a coffee. We were also warned that some pitches needed over 25 metres of hook up cable but reception would loan you an extension cable for a 30 euro deposit. There is a bus stop just outside the main gate with easy access to Ghent and beyond or a good cycle path network with the possibility of hiring bikes. I think if we'd had a quieter pitch the site would have been OK but I'd recommend having a look at the plan and Google Earth before booking

We were greeted warmly and the staff speak English. This site is situated within the Blaarmeesen leisure complex although the caravan site itself is in a separate section. The site is separated into different sections and each pitch is large and has a hedge around for privacy. We couldn’t get Astra 2 UK satellite reception. There were trees around so maybe it was just our pitch. We did see caravans with satellite dishes up so there must be some reception from some of the pitches. There are various shower blocks around the site. The main one seems to be S1 which also has the laundry. The showers are clean and free with loads of hot water. There are 3 large washing machines and 2 huge driers. They always seemed to be busy. The electricity is 6 amp and is switched on from reception. If you overload and it trips out it can only be turned back on from the reception. It is charged per kwhr.
There is a well stocked shop and a nice bar and restaurant on site. We ate at the restaurant and found the service and food quality good and reasonable price. There is also a take away and chip shop behind the restaurant. There is a bus from just outside the park that runs every 20 minutes into Gent. We did walk into town one day but got a bit lost and it took us 1 ½ hours to get in! We later found the best way to walk in is through the leisure complex, past the man made beach and along the canal. Even then it would probably take at least 40 to 50 minutes. The man made beach is along the side of a lake and this also has a bar and cafe. This would only be around a 5 to 10 minute walk from the site.
All in all it is a well run site and would recommend it if you are visiting Gent.
