Just had 6 nights here and we were very pleased. Already mentioned above, but worth noting - there is traffic noise humming away in the background. The only time it bothered us was Sunday night into Monday morning, the rest of the time it faded away.

We had our reservations about a camp without a pool for the kids, but the lake was fantastic. (It was pleasant to swim in, clear with a sandy base, kids and I loved it and the water slides were excellent. )

Restaurant on site was quite nice, but stops serving at 9pm.

Reception staff very helpful, but usually a lengthy queue to see them.

The shop was well stocked, staff very friendly.

Ghent & Brugges close enough for a trip. Bus to Ghent is easy, buy tickets at reception first as it is nearly half the price of buying on the bus - the bus stop is right outside the camp.

The park facilities around the lake for kids were superb - zip-slide, climbing frames and usual park stuff, but also several free climbimg frames in the woods and a version of go-ape which is payable.

All in - excellent site.

First visit to this site and very impressed. Bit difficult to find initially, went round one-way system at least twice!

Put in a lovely cul-de-sac opposite reception very nicely laid out with hedges in between plots. Only drawback EHU can be a long way away!

Facilities all very clean and never had to wait to use any of them.

Bar and chip shop on site but never got to use either as it was only a one night stopover.

Got the bus just around the corner from the site which dropped us conveniently right in the centre of Gent (lovely town).

In the evening walked around the lake, very nice.

Nice little shop on site has most things you would need.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Liked so much returning in 2012.

This site is brilliant. The staff are so helpful and all speak English. Small shop with a good selection of basic stuff plus beer and wine and a good bakery selection.

The facilities are clean, although water temperature was a bit hit and miss but they did warn us that they were having problems.

Some of the hook up points a quite a way from the pitches but you can borrow a lead for a deposit.

The pitches are very good with plenty of space and most of them quite private with high hedges. We liked the site and Gent so much we went back at the end of the holiday for another two nights.

The Blaarmeersen complex it great with parkland and games facilities plus an inland beach, swimming lake and children's beach area. In good weather you could spend all day at the beach. The Beachbar, about ten minutes walk from site was great, good selection of food and beer and good value for money.

Gent is also a great place to visit and I will certainly be going back to this site again.

Blaarmeersen is a large Municipal sports facility, with lakes, playground and running track. It was very well laid out with loads of nice walks. It is just off the motorway and you will get quite a bit of noise from the dual carriage way nearby.

The camping reception was stacked with useful information about Ghent and all the staff there and in the shop switched languages at the drop of a hat. In addition to the shop there was a good bar and cafe on the site as well.

Some of the pitches were quite tight but well separated from each other by little hedges. These could have been clipped back to give just a little bit more room.

While we were there on our stop-over there was no hot water at our nearest toilet and shower block but it was one of 4 on the site.

All together Blaarmeersen was a nice place to stay.

This site is well located within a huge sports complex/park on the outskirts of Ghent. The site was busy but never felt over crowded or noisy although you can hear the nearby road during the day. All staff spoke English and we were able to buy a good selection of provisions from the on site shop. We had lunch in the on site restaurant/bar which we found more than adequate. The site is a good base from which to see much of Belgium as it is close to excellent road links to Ypres, Bruges, Antwerp and Brussels. We would happily stay here again.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at Blaarmeersen and thought it was an excellent site. The initial tent pitch they allocated was way too small for our Wolf Lake 7 so a quick trip back to the reception and they happily moved us to one of the caravan fields that had a pitch size more like 10mx10m that we needed. The reception were very helpful in all our dealings with them and at only €96 for 6 nights including EHU it was really good value for money.

The Blaarmeersen complex also includes a swimming and row boat lake and water slide. Lake side walks and children's play grounds. A large toddler friendly swim lagoon with water cannons. Tennis courts, Basketball courts etc etc etc. On a couple of days the main lake was very busy as it was the hottest day of the year and all the locals come to visit. The lake is sufficiently away from the main camping area so as not to be a disturbance and only a 5 min walk away. The site had a well stocked shop and cafe/restaurant. Along with another 3/4 cafe/bar/restaurants around the lake complex.

There are buses from just outside the campsite into Gent or we drove and used meter parking just on the outskirts of the center (10 min walk) about €4.50 for 3 hours. (central city centre parking was more expensive.)

Outside of the site itself we managed to visit Bruges, Brussels and Antwerp all only about a 30 minute drive from the site and all well worth a day trip.

All in all this was an excellent site and certainly will be added to my favourites list for a visit again in the future and certainly one I will

This site is very easy to find, well sign posted from main roads. Good reception with English speaking staff made us feel at ease straight away. Pitches were adequate, well laid out and toilet blocks at regular intervals with showers and all washing facilities.
Beautiful grounds with water sports and beach. Bus stop to town centre and station near the entrance to site. Well stocked provisions shop. Friendly bar and cafe with good local food.
Pleasant walks along wooded paths but a certain amount of traffic noise from nearby roads during the day.
