We have just returned from 7 nights at this cracking little site.
The facilities are basic but clean and adequate we have a modern caravan with all mod cons so we did not use the toilet and washroom.
There is electric hook up and chemical disposal and washing up basin provided along with a shower room with wc and washbasin. A Washing machine and drying area.
The setting of the site is 5 star, right at the lochside with fantastic views, wildlife(deer otter seals and Heron spotted) and access to boat hire for the more adventurous and fishing folk.
Excellent base for touring the island and close to supermarkets and fuel,
Can not praise enough the owners Cathy and Ian who are extremely helpful and nothing is to much bother. They even delivered fresh caught baked mackerel one morning which we had along with free range eggs from there hens.
If you are looking for a site away from the big commercials this ranks as one of the best in our opinion having toured all over the uk for the last 30 years.
We will definitely be back.

Tiny campsite with some issues.
First- the good bits:
Fantastic scenery. Electric hook-ups on all pitches. Flat pitches. Very helpful owners. Good location to tour Skye from. Within easy reach of the Skye bridge and shops in Broadford.
Now - the not so good bits:
Washing up facility has no running water. You must fill the bowl in the toilet which is also the shower and can become very busy around breakfast time. There is an inherent lack of signposting within the site as to the location of the only shower/toilet.
Stone bed approximately 3 inches below the grass surface of the tent pitch that we used, making life not-so-easy for more inexperienced campers. Not-so-safe site for young children due to the adjoining boat yard.
But, because of the fantastic scenery, we wouldn't hesitate to return.

My wife and I arrived with a largish 4 man tent. The weather was dry and had been for some weeks (unlike most of Scotland at the time), but the wind was howling !
The incredibly helpful lady who co-owns the site lent us a smaller tent overnight which could more easily be erected in the wind. She and her husband actually did most of the erecting.
The site is small and basic but the owners and location are wonderful. As mentioned in most reviews, only one toilet and shower, but this didn't detract from our stay in any way.
Cost was very reasonable (£12 per night including elec)which is a third of what we're paying next week at a large site on the east coast of Scotland-although that site has a 'chippie' and pool etc. For my wee grandson.
We stayed four nights instead of the two we'd booked and we'll be back. Watching a pair of herons feeding at the water's edge thirty feet from our tent at 5am was unforgettable -as was the hospitality of the owners.

We stumbled across Lochside by accident - we were driving our camper around Skye looking for somewhere to stay when we discovered this gem. Stunning views, amazing setting, thoroughly recommended. Only slight problem is the single toilet in the morning!
From Lochside, you are around 25 minutes from Portree, the main town of Skye for pubs / restaurants / take aways. The site owner very kindly lent us various leaflets/books for local attractions and walks.
Only regret is that we didn't stay longer - we had a place on the ferry booked to Mallaig the next morning.

Had booked in advance and anticipated a warm welcome which we did get. Very friendly and helpful owners who are continuing to carry out improvements.
Has all necessary facilities and an excellent location. We did not need any help but could see others get practical assistance.
Will certainly use again when in area. Convenient for the whole island, and if going to or from other islands.
Shopping and other facilities within easy reach. Can fish for your supper if you want
The chickens did not bother us and we were sorry we did not buy any eggs.

This is a superb site, next to the boat yard just made it for me. Although when we stayed we had some very bad weather, it was still ideal. I wanted a site that was peaceful and quiet and this was it.
We were pitched right by the loch and the scenery was stunning, waking every morning I could have dipped my toes in.
The facilities are basic but were always clean, And that was all we needed. I have travelled all over Europe in my job and this was the hottest shower I have come across,
We were well looked after during our stay and cant wait to return soon.

A tiny site boasting marvellous views. The lady of the site is very friendly and is quick to offer advice on where to go in the local area offering us the loan of several books on the island.
There are no walks from this site situated as it is on a very busy main road (noise is not a problem however)nor is it particularly child friendly as it is situated on a working boat yard and close to steep drops into deep water.
The toilet and shower area might have been better but they were none the less acceptable - just.

What this campsite lacks in size and sophistication it certainly makes up for in terms of friendly welcome, unbelievably helpful 'landlady' and the location is superb.
It is cheap and facilities are adequate for anyone. If I were returning to Skye ( and I hope to) then I would be back here just to get the excellent quality of service again.
If you don't like it here then you are not a camper and need to book into hotels not call yourself a camper. This is camping at its best. Many thanks for a great stay in some pretty poor conditions.

We arrived on a cold, wet, windy day to be given a very warm welcome.
As the name suggests the site is right on the edge of tide which gave excellent views of Scalpay.
The site is nicely situated for exploring Skye
Unfortunately our stay was marred by extremely bad weather but our hosts more than made up for it offering to dry our clothes and boots and giving plenty of ideas for things to do in the area that were inside.
All in all a very friendly site to which we will be returning and recommending.

This is a very small site at the rear of a working boatyard, but the views certainly make up for lack of size and facilities. They are absolutely stunning. Facilities were adequate for us with a caravan - fresh water and chemical disposal point is all we really need, but there is also a shower/WC.
We had a pitch with views across the loch to Scalpay. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Chickens run free around the site - they are very friendly too, especially if you feed them! We arrived with the intention of staying for 1 night and then moving on, but decided to stay for 4 as the surrounding views were so lovely.
The only downside was that, because of the location alongside the loch, the midges were in abundance - so not much chance of sitting outside in the evening to admire the views. Would happily stay here again.
