A truely wonderful site. Yes the facilities are basic but they are spotlessly clean and they are cleaned everyday - but we used our own in the van anyway. The chemical emptying point was the best ever - according my partner who does that particular chore and also cleaned every day. The view from the site is spectacular across the Loch to Skye. We walked our dogs along the shore in the morning and watched Porpoises. It was amazing. The owners are lovely and come round in the evening to collect your pitch fee which for a caravan was £14. Electricity is £1 for 12 hours on a metre. There is a lovely bakery just across the road from the site which bakes gorgeous home made bread. There is hard standing for vans and two lovely well drained grassy areas for tents. A wonderful site which we intend to go back to.

Stunning location, plenty of room even though I was staying there in August. No need to book in advance, just turn up, pitch and then pay the wardens in the evening. Toilet and shower facilities are fine. There isn't a play area so probably not an ideal site for families but if you want a quiet base from which to explore then this is ideal. There's a Co-op and fuel in Kyle of Lochalsh 10 minutes away and if you like fish and chips then a visit to Plockton is required! There's plenty to see, Skye isn't far away and I recommend a drive of the Applecross loop, especially early in the morning. A site I will definitely return to.

Arrived towards the end of the season so it was hardly surprising to find I had the site pretty much to myself. It is well maintained with the grass well mown and plenty of refuse bins for re-cycling. The amenity blocks are very clean and hot showers are available for 50p. There is, however, no designated area for washing pots so consequently you have to take your chance with the possibility of someone having a shave next to you washing your pots. It did not bother me, but as mentioned it was quite during my stay.
The surrounding area is spectacular with plenty of options for walkers and tourists in general. It is an excellent base for visiting Kyle, Plockton or Skye It is just a short walk into Dornie which is well served by 2 pubs both selling real ale and pretty decent food. There is also a small shop and Post Office in the village.
Plenty of midges about too!

Stayed there for 1 night on 25 July 2013. There was plenty of space so parked facing the loch. As said already, basic toilet and shower block but very clean and tidy. £12 for the van (2 adults and 2 kids.
£1 for power and £0. 50 for showers. Did not use either as we arrived late and left early as we were heading for early morning ferry from Skye to North Uist.
Would definitely stay again.
Views of Eilean Donan Castle and the loch are superb.

Just returned from 4 pleasant nights at Ardelve.
Located on the shores of Loch Alsh and easy walking distance of the village of Dornie, the site has lovely views. You can see Eilean Donan Castle (the movie 'Highlander' was filmed here) which was lit up in the evening.
The owner was very helpful on out initial telephone enquiry.
The site and facilities are well maintained. Pitch was reasonably priced at £12p. N. With £1 extra for electric(meter) & 50p for shower.
The site is ideally situated for touring the west coast and Skye. The village of Plockton nearby is worth a visit.

I visit here most years, I really like the site. Facilities aren`t 10/10 but are more than adequate. The local pub in Dornie is great. Sometimes leaks during wet periods but it all adds to the atmosphere. Lochalsh and Pitlochry are just a short drive from here. If you look you will spot dolphins warblers and various birds of prey. There is a great walk to Glomach falls (the hidden falls). If you like waterfalls this is a must see. Better to drive down to Killilan and walk from there otherwise its a 20mile round trip. And did I mention there's a castle on your doorstep?

Loved this site. We only stayed for one night, great location with stunning views. Owners collect money in the evening, so just drive in and pick a pitch.
Electric is paid through a meter so require £1 coins. Toilets etc very basic but also very clean.
Can see Eilean Donan Castle from site, only a 5 minute walk to castle and Dornie. Had a drink in pub, locals very friendly.
Basic facilities, but stunning stunning views would love to return.

This site is at the water's edge and the views of the nearby castle are wonderful. There are toilets and showers that are kept very clean and tidy and the hook ups are metered electricity @£1 coin slots.
The owner arrives every evening to collect fees at 19:30hrs and he is a jovial chap and can offer lots of info for first time visitors to the area. The is a shop and tearoom plus three inns to eat at in close proximity.
This an ideal location for all interests to be satisfied, from walkers, photographers, bird watchers and for those who wish to explore the region, numerous scenic drives.
We have been to this site a number of times and it never disappoints and we are returning there in August for an extended stay.

The site is located on the banks of the beautiful Loch Alsh. The local area itself is breath taking and this site is also great for exploring Skye. There is a hotel very close by with bar / restaurant open to non guests, also there is a pub in Dornie a 5 - 10 minute walk away. Kyle of Lochalsh has an excellent Co-op supermarket which catered for all of our needs, there is also a small shop in the town centre selling all sorts of seafood including some lovely smoked mackerel which we enjoyed for dinner. I really recommend Applecross via the A890 as it takes you over the most awesome mountain pass.
Owners friendly and helpful and very much left us to get on with it otherwise.
We hired the one caravan which faces the loch and was not disappointed. Caravan was modern, warm, well equipped and generally a nice place to be, especially with the views out front. The caravan was located pretty much right next to the A87 but it's on a slow bit, the traffic thins out a LOT at night and was barely noticeable, not a problem at all. The only downside was the £1 coin meter for the electricity which frankly was a pain to constantly keep topping up; it seemed to eat the pounds quickly with minimal draw on the electrics. I think the owners should consider working out the average cost for electricity use by customers and add it onto the hire cost instead of the customer having this worry on holiday.
Would definitely return here, a great holiday!

Amazing setting by loch, and view of the castle and mountains. Off main road, so quiet. Good price £10.
So a great setting.
It was a pity that the facilities were the worst we have come across. There are 2 blocks, but everything is shared by the men and women. There were no special sinks for washing up, this was done in the wash basins.
So a woman having a wash, could be standing close to a male stranger washing up in the next sink. The building is old with concrete floors with some wet patches. No dryer or paper towels for drying hands.
We would suggest that the owners make one block for the men and the other for the ladies. Then try to update the facilities. It would be a great site then.
