This was one of our favourite sites during our visit to Scotland.
Excellent views from the pitch’s across the loch. Good water access and a short walk to get to the castle.
The village of Dornie has a great pub which does good food. Good bakery and pizza place at site entrance.
Brilliant base for walking and cycling and with easy reach of Skye.
Facilities are also very good - modern and kept immaculately clean.

This is an excellent campsite with excellent lochside location and an easy walk into Dornie and to the castle.
Great pub - The Clachan - in the village well worth a visit.
Good access to Skye and well located for many outdoor activities.
Facilities on site are excellent and well maintained.

Lovely little site. We booked early and got a pitch at the front with brilliant direct sea view, and view of Eilean Donan castle.
Even in May the site got quite crowded late in the day with a healthy mixture of tents, campervans and motorhomes.
Quite a few of these visitors only stayed one night, we noticed, so they missed staying for a nice break.
We had dinner in the pub in the village (nice if a bit expensive. But they've got a captive clientele) and spent the next day walking on the (very) minor road up the west side of Loch Long. Immediately one gets into utter peace, quiet, great views and nature.
The showers, loos and dishwashing facility were all good although there were occasional short queues.

One of the best sites I have ever stayed at.
Its located near Dornie with a good pub and the famous castle. Some of the best facilities for a campsite.
Toilets look to have been recently refurbished and very clean as well as the good quality modern showers which were easy to use with plenty of hooks and even a stool.
The owners were very helpful they also recommended places to eat and things to do in the area.
The place was almost full but we got the last electric pitch which also had a water tap on the back of electric. Only £25 for 2 of us.
Site was also very peaceful and had very good views
Highly recommend.

Pulled on site but missed the portacabin reception, no signage for it.
We ran out of gas and owner wasn't much help. Sorted ourselves out with the aid of fellow campers.
Shower took first 50p ok but wouldn't accept another so was not able to properly wash/rinse of, plus the water kept going cold.
Even at £19 a night without electric I would expect better.
Disappointed, so wont recommend.

Been visiting this site every year whenever possible as, for us, it is undoubtedly the best value for money, facilities and location in the area. (overall)
It could be described as rustically modern with its cement floors, wet wall and hepa filtration hand driers in the toilet blocks. Which are kept immaculately clean. Roomy new showers at the back of the block provide either a 4 or 8 minute shower for either 50p or £1
Electric hook ups and water taps are available at most pitches with stunning views across the loch. From some pitches you will see Eilean Donan castle.
Keep your eye open for porpoise trawling up the loch almost daily. Almost a dozen heron are often seen together on the sides waiting patiently for a meal to swim past and if you are really patient, you may spot a sea otter.
The German bakery just outside the entrance to the site is definitely worth a visit. Even although it's a tad expensive, a return visit is difficult to resist!
Go through the gate at the bottom of the site and a fifteen minute walk will take you to Eilean Donan castle with its cafe and Heilan Scran Takeaway. ( crispy buttermilk chicken thighs recommended!) alternatively you can take a walk into the small village of Dornie. No shops or post office but a very popular pub open from 4pm when we were there. But best to book if you want to eat there.
There is no set time for arrival on site but if you haven't booked a pitch, best to turn up early afternoon as it gets busier as the day goes on. It's true! Up until now at least, you can just turn up, choose a spot and park yourself without a booking - providing it doesn't have a reserved ticket on the pitch. The red and white bollards are simply to mark out the generous spaces available for each pitch.
One of the site owners will visit at some point to collect the fees which are very reasonable.
This is a great site to use as a base for exploring the area as it is only 3miles from the nearest Spar shop and 7miles to Kyle of Lochalsh and the bridge over to Skye. Kyle has a supermarket, butcher, chemist and other shops. Visit the Fisherman's Kitchen seafood shop and takeaway on your way through for a real treat. The haddock wraps are amazing, as are the large seafood baps.
You may get a visit from one of the owners' hens and you can buy their free range eggs on your walk to the castle. What's not to like?!

It is so difficult to find a site in high season so we made a note of this site. We arrived at 3, there were several vacancies but it filled up by 6.
Facilities extremely clean, you have to pay 50p for the shower but well worth it to get a nice hot shower.
Lovely location, we visited the castle, had a good meal in the local pub and were then well placed for moving on to Skye.

This is my 2nd review of this site. We have stayed here now a total of 3 times on 3 separate occasions. Quite honestly it is my favourite site.
It’s like wild camping really but with facilities. Very laid back with astonishing views!
Also the wee bakery 2 mins walk from the site is the icing on the cake pure bliss!
Love it here and would stay here every weekend if it didn’t take 9 hours to drive :)

This is a brilliant little site and I'm sorry I haven't submitted my review before now and apologise to the owners for my oversite.
I believe we were the last people to stay on site in 2019 and but for the covid outbreak would have been back.
The location is to die for with fantastic views to Eilean Donan castle and the mountains beyond as well as Skye in the distance.
A great place to base yourself for touring and highly recommended

After reading the reviews we decided to try this campsite out and we were not disappointed. (I phoned to make sure you could just turn up as the last review was last year) and as others have said you do just turn up and take a pitch which all overlook loch alsh and also have a view of eilean donan castle, ( it's just over the bridge) The woman comes round in the evening to take your money, it's £15 a night for a tourer not sure if a tent would be the same or cheaper. The electric is now £2 coins and ours lasted 24hrs. The toilets and showers were spotless, there was also a cool box with biscuits etc to buy if you wanted them. Over the road is pizzajo which was worth going to, we also went to the baker next door and the bread was lovely if a little expensive, £3. 20 for a small loaf. The site is great for exploring the area i. E. Applecross, plockton, glen elg, the isle of skye etc. If we're back in the area we will definitely be back at this site. Also if you were doing the NC500 it would be worth doing a wee detour and staying here for a few nights.
