When we arrived a little later than anticipated, first time in a caravan for several years, we had a friendly greeting from Paul the owner who showed us were to put the caravan, we got the caravan set up, then put up the awning less than half an hour not bad for novices.
Then had a look around with Paul who showed us the toilet block, waste water and chemical toilet waste disposal, and also the recycling area.
It is a lovely small site several permanent tourers, but all clean and tidy. Just over the bank is the river for fishing and canoeing in, the bank is ideal for walking the dog, the old church is very interesting and well worth a visit.
The Tontine Inn is approx 200 yards away and does good food but not on a Sunday.

We really enjoyed our stay at this site. Lovely peaceful location, friendly owners and beautiful views! Paul, the owner, is one of the nicest guys you could meet. He greeted us on arrival, showed us to our pitch, helped us position the caravan and showed us where everything was.
The pitches were of a good size, with room for the caravan, full awning and our 4x4 parked alongside. They were level and well maintained - the grass was always kept short. The views are stunning and there are walks on your doorstep.
The facilities were always clean and the shower was always hot! One shower and two toilets in each, no push button or coin slot meter!
The local pub was a 2 minute walk away, serving food every evening (every day) and during the day (Thursday - Monday only). The pub itself is lovely, the owners very friendly and the food is great!
We really liked this site and shall be returning!

This was our first camping trip so we didn't really know what to expect but on arrival site owner Paul was really friendly and helpful (he even blew up our air bed as we didn't have a pump)
The site itself was clean and showers with hot water. In walking distance of a lovely pub (literally 2minute walk) running alongside the river made it so peaceful and had some great walks to offer.
Would definitely recommend this site and will definitely return.

Just got back from a weeks stay at Church House. This site is a gem of peace and tranquillity surrounded by beautiful countryside and the hills of Wales. We were glad of our earplugs (we take them after a bad snoring experience in Norfolk!) because the morning chorus of the birds is amazing but very loud - you get used to it after a couple of nights.
The toilet/shower blocks are clean, well kept - there was a shower problem whilst we were there - a broken switch lead me into the gents side one morning for my shower but thankfully the site was quiet so no queues developed.
Paul and Lisa are very friendly, there are very few rules on site as they believe most things are covered by common courtesy - for instance they are very dog friendly, our Labrador who is very steady was allowed to be off the lead all the time, which she loved and we appreciated. Other dogs with wanderlust were asked to be tied up eventually, after the owners failed to stop them running all over.
There are many footpaths leading all over the fields locally and some great woodland walks a short car journey away.
Not really suitable for very young children because of the river - although Paul and Lisa have a young son themselves.
Shrewsbury and Oswestry are nice towns with some really cracking medieval architecture and Melverly church is an amazing building - burnt down in 1402 and rebuilt in 1405 - Paul does a great impression of the local welsh warlord paddling across the river in his coracle, lobbing a torch at it then paddling back!
All in all - a lovely place - we'll be going back soon.

Lisa and Paul made us feel so welcome whn we arrived, by the time we had put our tent up we felt like part of the family!
The campsite is situated in a beautiful quiet location surrounded in amazing countryside views.
Just a short (and I mean short more like stumbling distance) is a very nice pub that serves great food.
If you like walking you can just hop over the fence a walk for miles along the winding river (that is also great to fish in if you like that)
Lots to do around, we have three children and found a great farm/adventure land that we all had a great time at and it was not far.
All in all a fantastic experience and HIGHLY recommended.

A real gem of a campsite. It's in a lovely location next to the river and a fascinating wattle-and-daub church dating from 1400. The new owners, Paul and Lisa, are very friendly and welcoming. The showers and toilets are small but clean, and there are some thoughtful touches like the fridge-freezer you can put your own iceblocks into.
The surrounding area is a bit off the beaten track in terms of tourist destinations, but this meant that even in the middle of August it felt quiet and restful. There are some lovely castles nearby (Montgomery and Whittington if you want somewhere free to scramble about and explore, Ludlow or Powis for a more full-on tourist experience). There's great woodland and walks. We also had an excellent day with the kids at Park Hall Farm - a really terrific place with lots of play spaces, animals and activities.
Overall I would strongly recommend this campsite and area.

Just returned from this site and am loathed to let anyone else know what a lovely site it is, we want to keep it for ourselves, but, here goes.
Y husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and it was a joy, quiet, beautiful vista, lovely walks with our dogs ( watch out for the farm animals and a lot of stiles) we didn't fish the river but will next time.
The site was not the easiest to find, a good map or sat nav is essential but once there it is well worth it.
The owners are lovely people, very attentive, facilities immaculate, very clean toilets and wash up room, the site in general very well maintained.
And fridge freezer very useful, recycle bins for rubbish so be prepared to sort it.
The site is on two levels the lower level for tents only and is right on the river edge, the upper level for any unit is securely gated and has electric hook up.
The local pub has a good atmosphere and good food, but there are no other amenities close by, 15-20 mins to the nearest shop.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Church House caravan Park, and was greeted straight away by the new owners Lisa and Paul who are very friendly and helpful.
The site has a toilet block with free showers (No Meters) ample electric hook up points, with sufficient drinking water taps around the site, a laundry and recycling area. The site is in immaculate condition, which is also dog friendly.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and easy going and there was no great rush to leave on departure day.
Local pub is less than 5 minutes walk which serves an excellent variety of food, from Bar snacks to seated restaurant meals.
On site river fishing, both coarse and fly, day tickets available from site owner.
Highly recommended will be going back soon - not bombarded with rules and regulations. We had a very relaxing time, the views are nice and walks good also - just be careful of the cows. :-) B & K

We stayed for 2 nights on this lovely site- 2 adults and a dog, it cost £12 per night which was very reasonable. When we arrived we were shown the empty Tent field- this allowed us to choose the best spot- right on the bank of the river- it was heaven!. Apparently 3 or 4 other bookings hadn't shown up- or cancelled- this is really unfair. We ended up being the only people in the tent field for the whole weekend! The site is small, with one field for tents and the other for caravans/motor homes etc. Toilets and showers were kept very clean. Showers are free and very hot. There is a kitchen for washing up, complete with fridge and freezer- which was excellent. There was also a book swap in the kitchen area. There is an excellent pub next door, it does cheap snacks in the bar until 6pm and meals in the restaurant. Food was excellent as was the house wine.
There are loads of walks along he river or in the countryside. We visited Rodneys column and called into a really friendly pub with excellent draft ale called the Lord Rodney. We visited Bridgnorth on the way home, ths is a fantastic market town, well worth a visit, very pretty river, quaint, lots of pubs, restaurants and small unique shops.
We will visit this site again. I would definitely encourage friends to use it.

A small, quiet site in the midst of Shropshire farmland, with lovely views of the Welsh hills.
We stayed just one night, but on arrival, were greeted warmly by the owner and his three year old son - who even invited our 4 year old to play in his house. I've never had a welcome like it in any campsite I've stayed in (and I've stayed in many).
The site is a strip of land along the banks of a river in which campers can fish (course & game). There are also riverside walks to be enjoyed, and the site is right next to an interesting 15th century timber framed church. There is also a pub in the village which has a restaurant.
(However, a note of warning if you have young kids - the pub is not family orientated).
The site is split into a two strips - one used mainly by caravans, though not exclusively, and the other is only for tents, and you have to leave your vehicle parked outside the field. This area looked lovely, but may not be suitable if you have young kids as it directly overlooks the river. It is fenced off from the rest of the site.
The facilities: a small block with two toilet/sink cubicles and a shower each for men/women. Immaculately clean. Washing up sinks, and recycling area too.
For added interest, there is a large barn with an owl box. We saw a tawny owl during our stay.
Overall, a really lovely experience.
