Our first main holiday here and we're already booked to return in 2007. The main camping field is an oval with pitches around the outside and the inside of an oval track. Spotless toilets and showers, a bathroom!, separate wetusit rinsing area, shaded playground for the children and an on site shop (although limited in it range). A 2nd camping field is used during busy periods and this is closer to the main road and friends tell us this was noisy, but get on the main sight and you won't have a better, sheltered and safe holiday in that part of Cornwall!

We arrived at this site in mid June and we were pleasantly greeted upon arrival. The area for tourers and tents with hook up is slightly sloping and the ground has rocky substrate in places. A large hedge screen gives protection from windy conditions. The showers and toilet blocks and the sinks for pots and pans are absolutely spotless and a credit to the proprietors. There is a reasonable swimming pool and a games room. There are also Childrens Play areas. All in all this was a pleasant stay and reasonable in price

Our second visit as we enjoyed the first so much, and as per all the previous reviews here, but didnt see any bar. As previously, a very friendly welcome. Close to plenty of surf beaches but be aware that the waves at Polzeath are a little over populated so make sure you find out the better surf beaches if thats what you are going for.
As everyone says, good toilet block, generous pitches to fit the biggest of tents with space to spare. The shop sells the basics fpr those emergencies, but Coop in center of Wadebridge will provide everything else.
A visit to Trevathen farm shop / playground / cafe about 1 mile away on the way to Port Isaac is compulsory and a must for the BBQ and excellent strawberrys (just turn right out of the site and follow the road)!
Easy ferry from Rock to Padstow (£3 each). Make sure you get your pasties form the Chough bakery on the harbour. You wont find better. I guarantee it !
We will be back soon.

Nice little campsite, good pitches, clean toilets & showers (7 out of 10), If you want peace & quite make sure you get pitched away from the playground, Nice bar with some good beer & cider, Friendly family owned site with plenty of smiles & hellos, it actually made a change to be asked if we was enjoying our stay. I presume the surfing is good in the area due to every other car has a surf board attached to it

August 2005 We stayed at this site over August Bank Holiday weekend. It is a lovely site, family run, with an excellent toilet / shower block, small indoor swimming pool, small games room and little shop. It was perfect for the weekend and only about 3 miles from Polzeath. We had a good sized pitch which was reasonably level and although it was busy over the weekend it was spacious enough for the boys to play near the tent.
Our favourite features of this site were the excellent views across the countryside and the freezers outside the shower block which were for everyones free use for freezer blocks. Its reasonably priced too and we would definitely go there again.

July 2005 A long weekend visit for us but a great one.
Family orientated with spotless facilities, level piches, safe and shaded play area for the kids and free ice block freezer.
Only 5 minutes from Polzeath by car and a nice (if small) indoor pool and bar.
We will be returning in September!

September 2004 We only stayed here for a weekend so this is a bit of a limited review eg we didn't investigate the bar or the pool.
But what we did find was a site which matched our needs very well - a good quality base for surfing at Polzeath, which is about three miles away.
Gunvenna is well laid out and looked after. Very good shower block with separate showers for wetsuits and dogs! A good price and a family oriented feel. I am sure we'll be returning here!

May/June 2003 I visited here with a friend and 4 kids between us - our ideal site! Nice and flat - we camp with small dome tents - and good toilet blocks (we have teenage daughters so such things are of importance!) Nice little bar (Steve likes a pint or two) and a games room. We are casual campers who look at the forecast then head to Cornwall if it looks like on balance it will not rain TOO much! Our idea of the perfect weekend is a) no rain! b) a cream tea or two c) all day on the beach boogy boarding, frisbee etc d) nice meal and a drink later. Gunvenna is perfect for all this.
The only bit I was not excited about was the indoor pool - not very warm, and lots of condensation. I prefer a clammy wetsuit and the sea
All in all - ideal for what we seek - basic site, no static caravans, quiet and good clean loos etc

May/June 2004 This is a lovely gently sloping grassy site, with wonderful views over the cornish hills. Since our stay last year Paul and Sue have worked hard over the winter season and have upgraded the shaded children's play area with a large climbing frame system more suitable for all age groups, there is also a new sandpit. For the evenings at the main house there is a cosy small bar/pub, run by either Paul, Sue or one of their two sons. It is non-smoking. They also have a small games room. The free hot showers have enough space in the cubicles to get changed in easily with a small stool and hooks. There is also a family bathroom, 20p a fill. There are nice touches, a baby bath and changing unit and booster stool for toddlers. They are all regularly cleaned and any problems are dealt with straight away. Two freezers are available for general use by the campers, one for food the other for blocks. Even a wetsuit washing area and laundry room. The indoor swimming pool is small, but does the job for my children. Nothing negative to mention, beautiful family run well maintained quiet site.

We stayed at Gunvenna for the first time this year after spending holidays at another site nearby for the past 18 years. The site was excellent, well run by very friendly people. Nice big pitches, the site was lit at night. Free showers and free washing up facilities - not a coin meter in sight! And no nasty DO NOT...., ......NOT ALLOWED notices! There were also Laundry facilities. Dogs welcome, even a dog excersise area
The site has a small shop and a games room, indoor swimming pool and a bar.
All this at a very reasonable price
