The owner couldn’t do enough to help! Doing his rounds making sure everyone is ok.
It’s a lovely small relaxing campsite.
With Pickering and Malton nearby for day trips you weren’t stuck doing nothing!

Stayed for 3 nights with another family so we had a large touring caravan with an awning housing 2 adults & a toddler and a teardrop caravan with an awning housing 2 adults and a dog. Also, my 2 teenagers had a small tent each.
We were just coming out of lockdown so the toilets and showers were not available, but Andy made this very clear so we came with our own facilities. The sani emptying place was available so that was fine. We also had electricity in our field. I think one field doesn’t so it’s cheaper. Our plot cost £50 for 3 nights for 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a dog so I thought that was very reasonable for all the gear we brought!
You can have a fire pit. We hired one from Andy and bought some logs. We have a cooking frame so cooked quite a bit on it and kept a big kettle of hot water going for our outdoor shower and to wash pots.
There are 3 camping fields. Ours was very flat so dead easy to pitch up and the grass was great for pushing tent pegs in.
The site is peaceful, no bar or playground so it’s old fashioned make your own entertainment which suits us fine!
Andy is a great Yorkshire sort and we had a good laugh with him, but he makes it clear how he expects his site to be respected, other than that, there are no pitches so once you’re shown to your field, you can camp where you want.
In normal times, this would be a great base as it’s next door (almost!) to flamingo land, near some very pretty villages and very near the coast. It’s walking distance to a pub and takeaway pizza and a Chinese too. We didn’t use much of the local amenities as coronavirus meant lots of places were closed or restricted. Great base for walking too.
We had brilliant weather which obviously helps.
We really enjoyed the site so if you like a smallish site with not a lot of rules and like to make your own entertainment, I’d recommend this.

A great campsite, good base to explore North Yorkshire.
Super friendly and amenable owner.
Plenty of space and freedom for my children and puppy to run and play around. 3 large fields so I never felt on top of other campers!
The site has 2 toilet/shower units that were always clean. Was £1 for a 5 min shower.
Two large outdoor sinks for pot washing!
Although I did have to boil my kettle as I hate washing up in cold water! (Maybe I’ll get use to it the more we camp!)
We hired a fire pit for our stay. Perfect for toasting marshmallows
All in all had a fab stay and would definitely recommend.

Very basic but lovely campsite! As we pulled up Andy was there to greet us with his 2 labs, nice bloke who showed us where too pitch. He showed us the facilities and left us too it.
The next morning he came along to see if we were ok, we had a chat about the local area, like I said he’s a very nice man.
The toilets and showers were clean and did the job, basic but did the job. No shop on the camp site but there is some shops a short drive away.
The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxing, very quiet. I would definitely come again and I highly recommend.

Well what an amazing stay. Last minute booking for countryfile. Andy was an amazing host who was always about making sure everyone was happy and making sure facilities were clean and tidy.
Always pottering about with his lovely labs chatting to everyone. Just a nice relaxed atmosphere. He showed me a lovely field when we arrived where we pitched up by the horse field. Had a lovely visit from them on the night time.
Also had a hen as my friend for morning breakfast which was our highlight. 10/10. Very accommodating. Could not fault it one bit. My kids loved their stay.
Highly recommend 🙂

Great little site. Basic but nice. The owner of the site was very friendly and a fountain of local knowledge. The showers are 20p a min but lovely and hot.
Several fields to the site and if you speak to the owner he will accommodate you on a suitable field. We left a day early due to rain however the site wasn't boggy or muddy.
Overall a great site and we will be back. The location of the site was great loads to see and do within 40 mins drive and flamingo land on the door step.

Overall Excellent
I booked a site with hobground for two Campervan’s the day before and the site owner was very accommodating with this.
The site was very clean and incredibly quiet and due to being in Malton for work it was ideal and will be booking early for next year.

On entry to this site the road is very much full of potholes, as you carry on up it opens up into several different areas for tent or caravan with Ehu or not. We opted for the paddock beside the horse, the views are stunning and the silence deafening.
Bad points are only 2 toilets with the wash hand basins inside the cubicle and 1 of these doubles up as the sites only shower as well (£1 for 5 mins) so amenities fill up quickly in the mornings. No dog walking areas and nothing for kiddies to do either.
Apart Billy basic but value for money.

We recently stayed at Hobground for one night as our first attempt at camping with our 11 month old baby.
We had asked for a quiet spot if possible and the owner gave us a lovely quiet space in a paddock on our own. The site is in a beautiful setting, very quiet and peaceful.
It is a small site with basic facilities so if that is what you are after rather than a big site I would highly recommend it.
We would definitely visit again.

Lovely quiet site. It does now have a small toilet block. There is very little here but if that's the kind of site you like then it's great.
The field is flat and sheltered, the only noise we noticed was an occasional noisy motorbike several miles away, and twice an aerobatic plane practising high above us.
It's several miles from anywhere (hence how quiet it is) but realistically you'll have to drive 5+ miles to get anywhere you want to go, except possibly Flamingoland. Within half an hour there is absolutely tons to do.
