Stayed here for one night, a lovely site. The kids loved the stream and lake. The orchard was a lovely place to pitch up. However there was a very noisy group opposite us, due to there being no real site owner contact we were stuck with screaming teenagers till midnight with their friends coming and going all night.
A great site site in itself though.

Stayed a few times for 1 or 2 nights, cheap and cheerful. Just toilet block, no hot water and no showers but there are some at service st. 1/2 m away if staying longer. Owner comes around at supper time to collect money. Have to take rubbish home but there is recycling boxes for use. Lots of walks from site, about 25 min stroll across fields to pub and shops. Ideal for weekendaway doing nothing

What a lovely site! The location is gorgeous, the people who own the site are friendly and come round the site several times a day. We stayed for a weekend and our 2 year old loved playing in the stream, walking in the woods and feeding the many ducks that wonder round the site. It's rustic and only has basic facilities but for us that is perfect and just what we wanted. We will definitely be back again over the summer! Highly recommended. Only negative is having to take your rubbish home with you but with once a fortnight collections I can understand why the owners have had to do this.

Very basic but pretty / rustic site, ideal for a weekend or overnight. Really enjoyed our stay in the Orchard .There are 2 fields, the Orchard being more enclosed. Despite this being so close to the A1, there was very little noise. Plenty of good walks direct from the site including a really good children's playground and BBQ area 20 mins walk, on the bridleway. Great setting, back to nature camping on good ground with no facilities (only toilets). Full service station 1/2 mile away for KFC / McDonalds / Pizza hut etc. No shop on site.
£16 for 2 night walking Holiday was great value. Would visit again. (Ps they only take recyclables - you have to take rubbish home)

There are 2 fields here, the orchard field is the rally field and the other field is through some old disused farm buildings but looked ok. The toilet block was by the farm buildings and was very basic but clean enough. No showers but we don't mind that for a weekend!
We stayed on the orchard field which was very attractive although the vehicle access to a neighbouring house runs along the edge of the field so there were some comings and goings that had nothing to do with the campsite.
The small river was fun for a paddle and the lake just outside the site was lovely but you're just at one end of it. The campsite owners said we could walk up into their gardens to access the lake properly, but we didn't get chance in the end.
Nearby Baldock has everything you need, and the local villages have great pubs-Ashwell with it's springs is definitely worth an hour or 2.
We would go back again and probably try the other field to get a feel for it.

Just back from staying in this lovely little campsite. There was a caravan rally there at the same time as me and my partner were, but the very friendly owner said we were able to pitch in a field, which was very peaceful and secluded. There is a distant rumble of traffic on the main road, but it certainly didnt disturb us!
There is no hot water or shower, but the toilet block is clean. There was a river with ducks and geese (one which we christened reginald!). There were rabbits, horses, and we even saw a muntjac go past the tent on our first night. There were lots of walks nearby and shops, restaurants and pubs were a few minutes drive away.
This was our first camping experience and we had a lovely peaceful time on this site, and will hopefully return.

Great spot for a weekend. Brilliant location. ( The noise from the A1 is only really noticeable in the early hours if there's a lot of traffic). Good local walks. Lake and stream for the kids. The ducks are friendly, the swans aren't!
The bit over by the trees is prone to mossies as the river runs immediately behind them. This field might get a bit boggy if the weather's wet as a result. However a real joy on a hot sunny day.
Loos are rustic, but extremely tidy.
Petrol station shop and fast food 5 minutes away. Larger supermarket less than 10 min away. Several local pubs . But can't comment as we were busy with a cold box full of lager putting the world to right.
Can't fault the place, and will definitely use it a couple of times a year now I've 'discovered' it.

Stayed one night with an Army mate. Great site. Pitches look well kept. Toilet block was basic, but very clean.
River runs through the middle of the site, great for kids. Loads of walks nearby.
A bit of noise from the A1 but nothing terrible.
Lovely owner, told us to pitch where we liked, and let us take up as much room as we wanted.
Apologies to the French family opposite. My French is appalling!

we've been visiting this campsite for several years for weekend breaks and we love it! -has lovely places to pitch a tent -It has basic but good and clean facilities (yeay real loos!) -friendly but unobtrusive welcome -and we can afford it ! (no extra charges sneaking up on you!) heaven! As a place to come and totally chill and let the kids run around and play with no worries, this is perfect.

This is a great little campsite. Quite rustic but we like that. Cold water and very clean toilets and a friendly lady that runs it. Nice walks and horse padock that my son loved! Great for a short break. Yes you can hear the traffic but nothing too noticeable. No other facilities to speak of so if you are looking for entertainment it's a case of making your own. We loved it. Hope you enjoy it too.
