Second visit to Dobbs for us. It's a great site and they are a very friendly and helpful lot. We recently camped there for 3 nights and although the weather was actually ridiculous and at times scary - we're all laughing about it now - of course the kids had a great time. They have a great play area and the forest bits are fun too. The facilities are pretty good and the shop is a real bonus. It's a great location for visiting London and Lee Valley - the pub (10 minutes walk 'Fish and Eels' is lovely and friendly staff, great food, the kids menu pizza is worth it). My only gripe is that the site is very close to an industrial park, and therefore there are quite loud noises, forklift trucks beeping and the like, very early hours of the morning. It's such a shame.
I would recommend pitching nearer to the play area at the top of the field. But overall totally recommended and I'll go again - thanks Dobbs Weir x

Spent a weekend here first weekend in September with both my children and friends with theirs. Lovely clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff and close by to lots of things that the kids enjoyed- feeding the ducks, frolicking in the woods, playing football on a specially designed patch and running about in the playground. You can also hire fire pits here if your the kind of person to miss an open fire. It got a bit chilly on the second night but a lovely easy 10 minute walk to the local pub was great fun for us all. Will definitely be going again

Thank you to James(Bond) Ms Moneypenny, Michael and Edna for running such a clean, friendly and happy camp. Our family had a fantastic time. We were all made to feel special. The ablution blocks were always clean. The children's playground very entertaining. I really enjoyed hiring the bikes and exploring the area. The prices were very reasonable. The kitchens were kitted out with all you need to ensure a comfortable stay. There is only one thing we found missing. That was the lack of bins for garbage disposal. We thought that we needed one at each glamping tent. We were however given a couple, when we brought it to the attention of James. Once again thank you one and all. Keep up the good work.

Really liked this campsite. We stayed for two nights at the end of May half term. Good location for accessing activities along Lee Valley Park including the boat centre. Lots of off road cycle and walking paths nearby. Good friendly welcome and a pack of local things to do is provided at check in. It's the not the biggest site but the camping field is nice and flat with an on site shop that sells all the essentials. Showers and toilets were clean with plenty of hot water. Washing facilities available, plus a children's playground and even a pizza van was on site in the evenings. There is also a good pub and cafe within a few minutes walk by the river. Hope to make a return visit soon.

We used this site for a weekend away (Saturday and Sunday). Because it was a last minute thing it had to be reserved by phone rather than on line, which was fine, the website though is very good for checking availability and booking. The site easy to find, but a little disconcerting if you come in from the A10 as it takes you through a big industrial site, but fear not. On arrival you are greeted by a very well kept site and secure entry is by speaker phone. The reception area is bright and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were given a comprehensive welcome pack and shown to our pitch. The site is really well kept, a large touring type grassy field (well mown and no grass cuttings) and also some hard standings with a few pitches right by the waterway. Toilets were modern, heated and well cared for and very clean, with toilet paper! In fact the whole site is immaculate. The site even has a Motorhome service point for dumping grey waste. Only downside is the fee to use the wifi which is a shame nowadays, but not the end if the world. Nearby is a pretty waterside pub within 5 mins walk, avoiding the busy road, and the waterway is just as near. We walked to the River Lee boat centre about 1. 5 miles away where another pub is open for meals and drinks. We also cycled the route to Broxbourne, and returned by the tow path, about 10 miles in all. Lots to do and see nearby we will be back for sure.

My wife, me and friends stayed in 2 trailer tents for a week in August. After getting through the barrier, we were greeted nicely on arrival with all the info (loads of it) about the local attractions and facilities.
Then came the first thing I would change, in that the layout at reception means you park outside the front then have to reverse out. Not a problem for me but some may find it a difficult if more than a couple of parties arrives at the same time and they have deliveries etc, it could do with a turning circle of some sort for which they have plenty of room in the car park behind the reception shed.
We were the shown our our pitches that were of good size on the river section.
Then came the big disappointment of our break we had asked for this area as I had stated we had wanted to fish from near our tents, my sister-in-law had been in the same section and had full access to the river a few years earlier.
But now there is a huge bramble bush and the other areas had been left to over grow to a level that the only place to safely fish the river were at the extreme ends of the field in which you could only fit one person.
There was access to the river further long but with most of the people in our section wanting to fish, this quickly filled up. We tried walking around into what we later found out to be the mobile home field and were told in no uncertain terms that we were not allowed in this part of the camp even though there was 200 yds of free river bank, and a huge field with no one in it.
Toilet and shower facilities were very good and clean, although the location could be better as they are sited at one end, the far campers having a fair walk.
Sainsbury's and ASDA next to each other 5 mins away.
There are lots of things to do locally, I would recommend the RSPB centre, a nice walk and it was a joy to see the kingfishers coming back with fish to feed their young.
Overall for a plain camping break, it's a good site, but we were tempted by the fishing potential and that was a huge disappointment. If you do come here and fish, lobworm is the bait to use if you can keep the crayfish away (yummy).

We decided to stay at Dobbs Weir shortly after purchasing our caravan. We are new to caravanning and wanted to try it out. The site is beautiful and showers and toilets are spotlessly clean. The wardens could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and helped out with tips and advice throughout our stay. We liked it so much that we have decided to store our caravan there throughout the year. The storage compound is close to the pitches and very secure.
We would not hesitate to recommend Dobbs Weir. My husband and son enjoy fishing during our stays and we find the whole experience very relaxing. Highly recommended!

This is a great site and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is still up and coming and was very quiet when we arrived for one night on the way from Norfolk. The facilities were spotless, we were very impressed. The local area of Dobbs Weir is very pretty. The pub is only a few minutes walk from the site and is overlooking the water. We would go back to Lee Valley. The only downside is the industrial estate closeby which means there is a lot of lorries passing by. But you couldn't ask for more near London!

Staff, impeccable! Nothing too much trouble, very friendly and welcoming but not in your face at all. We went on a very wet bank holiday weekend and stayed 5 nights, they made sure we were not in a boggy pitch. Great showers (with bench and hook to put your stuff) and toilets, immaculate, despite it being busy and wet. Lovely kids playground and secure woods to play in, small shop not too well stocked but supermarkets 5 mins drive. Site itself near industrial estate but no real noise from that. Can ride and walk into the nature reserve straight from the site. If down that way again, would definitely stay there. Only downside, a bit pricey, but very close to London, and the best site in the area.

We stayed at Lee Valley (Dobbs Weir) campsite with our 3 young children on a serviced tent pitch last month on a long weekend trip to London.
The location was great; 5 minutes drive to Hoddesdon where there was a great selection of supermarkets, shops and restaurants, a lovely pub the 'Fish & Eels' just over the river and the main line to London (Broxbourne Station) was 5 minutes drive away.
The site itself has only been open a year and consists of a large open field (where mainly caravans and motorhomes parked) and a smaller field with electric pitches and mainly for tents, this was nice as it was next to the river and provided fishing areas for each tent if required. The electric points were shared and if you have only a short electric lead (10m) you can borrow an extension lead (for a £30 deposit). There was an industrial estate next to the site, and you could hear the trains but personally this wasn't an issue.
The shower, toilet and washing block were very good and always kept clean. The only downside was that out of the 8 (free) showers only 3 worked on our visit, which meant we did queue briefly. There was a nice little play area and well stocked shop, along with river side access to fish for crayfish (a big attraction to our kids!)
The main thing attraction for me was the ease of getting into London. It only cost £1. 10 to park at Broxbourne Station on the Sunday we visited, and the 25 minute train journey in with unlimited tube and bus for the day cost just £32 for our family. It was a great way to get to see the sights, with having an easy enough trip back to the tent.
I can also recommend 'Wokulike' in Hoddesdon who delivered a wonderful Chinese to the campsite gate! The staff were very friendly, and welcoming and
