Used the site for the first run out with our new Montana 6 tent. As per the previous review, I was told to just turn up when I tried to book. The majority of the site is sloping, with parts on a steep slope. It is a little exposed and was quite windy during our stay, but set in a very nice area close to Wadebridge and the Camel Trail. The site is superb for families, my 6 year old, who has just learnt to ride her bike was safe to cycle around the site. Lots of people cycle here, and the car drivers are all courteous, slow down and wait. The facilities are very clean, and much to my initial concern, the owner seemed to appear every where I went. The truth is he works really hard to keep the site clean and tidy. The downside is that all of the facilities are at the front of the site. The shower block only had 4 or 5 showers for men, presumably the same for women. There was a portable loo in the middle of one field, which again was very clean. I really don't think they have nearly enough showers for the number of tents & caravans on the site when I was there, which was a bit of a shame considering all of the plus points. My wife (nosing over my shoulder) has insisted that other women would be keen to note that the water at the wash up point was only lukewarm. For all you guys out there . It's where the dishes are done !

Great site. Emailed everywhere at short notice - no availability. This place said just turn up which made me panic. No need. Lots of fields with plenty of space and immaculate brand new toilet and shower facilities. Quite a walk to toilets from some fields but that's camping. Considering it was high season we didn't have to wait more than a couple of mins for a shower and the owner was seen at all hours on his bike checking the site and cleaning the loos. Outdoor pool was freezing (according to my children) but many were enjoying themselves in it. All facilities including w/machine, freezers etc. Great location for Padstow and all the beaches around - will definitely be returning.

This site is truly wonderful. The 'new' shower-block that A.N.Other reviewer mentioned is now complete and it is really something. There are plentiful high quality showers, toilets and hand basins that really would look more at home in a hotel. To top that, Classic FM plays gently in the background, and I’m even told (by a rather enthusiastic owner) that it’s eco-friendly with solar power panels adorning the Cornish slate roof. The play-area and outdoor swimming pool are ideal for small children and the owners of the site are friendly and helpful.

Just what we were looking for, lots of space for young children to run around safely. The nearest tent to us was at least 80 m away! New toilets, posh potaloos and washing up area were always really clean and only had to queue for the loo once in 4 days. Swimming pool and play area fairly small but really good quality. Lovely views from most parts of the site. Will definitely visit again.

This is a big site which was not too busy over a bank holiday weekend. Lots of space for children and set in fantasic countryside. The pool and play area are of a high standard.
We were told before arriving the main toilet/shower block was being re-built so we had to make do with portaloo and shower units which were not quite upto capacity. Again, it could be a walk to the new toilet block from the field we were in.
We certainly intend to camp there next year and see how things have changed.

August 2004 Camped here for a week. Site is huge, in lovely countryside and handy for Rock which has a fantastic beach. If planning a day at Rock try to get to the car park before 9.30 as it is only small and there are queues for a parking space after this time.
The showers and washing up facilities on the site seemed insufficient for the size of the site. There are some portaloos that are very small and mean you have to straddle the toilet to close the door. The portashowers are useless. The main original block is good but there are only two showers and a trek if you are in the top field. The site is mostly level and well drained in wet weather with plenty of space to give you privacy.
The outdoor swimming pool and the play area are good for children under 10. Lots of children brought bikes and the site was big enough that there was no danger in them cycling around. The site owners are very relaxed about where you camp and will give a refund if you want to leave early. There are also 2 chest freezers to refreeze your ice packs. This would be a fantastic site if the showering and washing up facilities were improved. Would recommend the site if you can put up with the showers.

Aug 2003 Good site with loads of space between pitches (owner leaves it up to you). Setting superb and Steve & Sally very friendly. Childrens play area will be fantastic quality when additions completed.
However, I felt showers, dishwash and laundry not really large enough for number of pitches used when we were there (4 fields in use).

Friendly small site. Not too busy, facilities are good so long as you don't want a lot of entertainments (we don't). Pretty setting, by Camel river.
Shops at Rock and Wadebridge are nearby.
