Situation for visiting Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies.
Knew not to expect a site with short grass and pretty flower beds but facilities were very adequate, in fact better than we expected and couldn't fault anything.

Site is well placed for the Falkirk Wheel and although facilities are very basic they were kept clean.
The site owner was friendly and helpful.
This is really only an overnight stop when travelling but a handy one at that.
At £26 per night a little expensive for what is on offer

A basic site within easy walking of the Falkirk wheel and drive to Falkirk.
All toilet and showers were clean and tidy.
Pitches all hard standing and level.
Site lighting and electric and water to all pitches.
£26 pn I thought a bit expensive as site was so basic but showers were included.

Easy to find, well signposted & didn't need SatNav. Bit disappointed that the site looks like a long carpark. Could see a view of a hill to right & power station chimney on left from where I parked.
Some static caravans at far end. Tourers park other end near toilet block. Pitches not numbered, pot luck finding free electric hook up. Basic site, overpriced for the dated facilities.
Very easy to forget that ladies showers are next to mens toilets & ladies toilets next to mens showers. ! Owner q
uite pushy to get me to go for a pony trap ride in morning - £5 extra. ! Noisy screaming children & someone's late evening BBQ set off my fire alarm, so had to shut all windows.
Didn't feel relaxed & left the site at first light.

If you are looking for a site with manicured pitches and up to date facilities then look elsewhere.
But if you want a well drained pitch with nice views and only 5 mins walk to the Falkirk Wheel then book up now.
The facilities at the site although dated were always clean. Electric and water on all pitched. Hogi (the owner) is a lovely man who does Pony (Tommy) and trap rides on a morning around the Magic Circle. It was a lovely way to start the day.
We called in two pubs at Lock 16, The Canal and the union both dog friendly. The Falkirk Wheel does boat trips but unfortunately not dog friendly as we found out - shame.
You can walk to the Kelpies from the site just follow the canal, it would probably take about an hour, it would be a lovely walk on a nice day.
The Kelpies and Helix Park is well worth a visit.

Great site. Clear notices showing how to get on site, good notices on site. Scottish sing song Saturday night, pipes and guitar. We took a pony and trap ride on Sunday morning.
Good walks all around, easy walk to the Falkirk wheel and a ride to the Kelpies. Fantastic host, nothing too much trouble. We hope to visit again.

Basic site but everything you need, large gravel area nice and flat, nice and quiet at night. Park up and the owner comes to you.
Main reason to stay at the site was to visit the Falkirk wheel, 10 minute walk down a path to the canal through the tunnel and the wheel is straight in front of you. Plenty of walks for the dog.
Supermarkets and pubs a short drive away. Not really anything for children.

This is a 'no frills' site. What you see it what you get. It is a perfectly functional site for a short stay or an overnight stop, & is a good base for off road cycling or walking, being surrounded by areas of woodland which are connected by a series of interlinked tracks.
A short walk to the nearby 'Falkirk Wheel' & the 'Kelpies' is well worth doing & nearby Falkirk is a nice little town, otherwise there is not much in the area, which makes the price of £22 per night seem a little expensive, especially as the shower/toilet block is a converted container! Each pitch does have water, waste & ehu points, but that is it. There is no reception, you just pitch where you want & the owner appears every evening to collect his fees.
As I have said, this is a perfectly functional no frills site, & one I may use again for an overnight stay when heading into the highlands of Scotland.

This site probably won't appeal to those who want pitches like bowling greens but if you want peace, nature and a really warm welcome from a genuinely nice host then you really should try the wheel. Biased definitely towards adults this made a great overnight stop and we would definitely come again.

Stayed here end of March, we wanted to visit the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies.
Perfectly situated within easy walking distance of both but.
Very overpriced, facilities very basic, like a large gravelled lorry park with Security lighting. We wouldn’t recommend the showers or toilets unless you were desperate. OK, it was early on in the year and everything was brown and muddy but no attempt seems to have been made to smarten the site up, to make it just a bit more attractive. £12. 00 a night, maybe but £22. 00, having a laugh.
