Having read the excellent reviews of this site and seen the recent awards it has received, we booked for 4 nights.
We could not have been happier with the site, it's location and the helpful friendly owner and his team.
We will be back!

I ended up here on the off chance as originally had planned to camp in hull after collecting a used tent, but the weather was so bad I decided to drive home. Half way back it all cleared up so phoned Bedale Campsite and Ross booked me in.
Firstly, what a welcome. Ross and his staff are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I was taken for a look around the facilities and shown to my pitch.
The ground was pretty soft and muddy after the awful weather we'd had. The pitches are generous size though there is a slight slope and the ground is a little lumpy. Many of the pitches have an exclusive use picnic table/benches which is a lovely touch.
I got set up and was just working out a way to get out of my muddy shoes without putting them in the tent when Ross brought over a big mat for me to use - such a lovely thing to do!
So, the site. Well it's just a field really, on the outskirts of bedale. Very peaceful. No road noise, just the sound of birds, the occasional sheep or cow. It's lovely.
It's a fairly new site and has already won 2 C&CC awards so they are definitely going the right way!
Toilets, showers, sinks are all spacious, new and spotless, really lovely. The showers don't have adjustable temperature but they are still great. There is room outside each shower for a duckboard, fold down stool, hooks etc so plenty of room.
The outdoor, covered potwash has steaming hot water as well as cold. Just 1 huge sink - good job I had a bowl with me! It was a little cold standing there but then it was early april in miserable weather. There is a CDP, some drinking water taps and a lovely little local info room/shelter. There is a larger field adjacent to the campsite which has a couple of practice football goals and a ball for the youngsters, plenty of space to run around and it also give a more peaceful feel to the site.
Although a basic site, you still feel spoiled. The friendly and helpful owners, immaculate facilities, peace and quiet - what else do you need really? Oh - and just outside the facilities there is a small covered stand with local free range eggs and an honesty box. The eggs are lovely :-)
Bedale is about a 1 mile walk though there is a slightly shorter way across a field. Although small, Bedale is an historic town and very picturesque. The area is very handy for exploring with lots of things to do within a short drive.
Would I visit again? Oh yes, in fact plans are already underway!

My daughter, son in law and granddaughter stayed for 2 nights to try out their new tent and we joined them for 1 night in our folding caravan. We were met by the very friendly owner and staff, given a choice of pitch and helped to pitch up.
Due to the ground being wet we chose a hard standing but the owner would have been happy for us to pitch on the grass next to our daughter saying that he would tow us off the following day.
The following day we met the owner again with his wife both of who were friendly and offered to take our dog with them on their rounds but the dog declined (his loss!)
Huge dog walking field where our dogs could run and play off lead. The facilities were spotless.
Very child friendly. Football net available and the information cabin doubled up as a games rooms for kids of all ages - loads of board games, toys and colouring books etc.
Peaceful and feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere but is in walking distance to Bedale. Independent shops, co op, takeaways and dog friendly pubs.
Will definitely be back.

WOW, what a fantastic little site. We stayed for one night and felt very welcome. We were meant to stay 2 nights but were unable to pick the caravan up after I finished work late.
I phoned the owner and he was very understanding. He told us which pitches were available and told us pitch up on any of those in the morning.
We arrived to find a small field with 5 electric hook up points. We found a pitch and soon had our caravan set up.
Very quiet and clean site. Toilets were spotlessly clean as were the CDP and Pot washing area.
We will definitely be back again in the summer

A lovely clean and well looked after site. Very new still and the welcome is very warm. We have a biggish motorhome and needed hard standing since it's been so wet.
They so far haven't got proper hard standings but found us a place to site the motorhome. They are now starting to build a few hard standings realising the need for it.
There are electric hook ups, very clean toilets and showers. It's only a 10 minute walk to Bedale centre with lots of places to eat.
This site comes highly recommended and you will be assured of a warm welcome. Don't miss this one!

Found this campsite online after joining the Camping and Caravanning Club and it definitely lived up to the previous reviews I'd read. Loads of space between well-drained, flat, grass pitches, immaculate and modern shower/toilet facilities, a handy information cabin and a relaxed and friendly welcome from the family who own the site. Also great value - it only cost us £20 a night to bring a massive tent and two cars on.
The site is in a great setting, nice and quiet but an easy 15-minute walk from the town centre and market place, where there are some lovely pubs serving meals. We had lunch in the Black Swan one day and can recommend it!
A good location also for anyone wanting to explore North Yorkshire - there are loads of interesting places within an hour or so's drive, and Bedale itself is only 10 minutes from the A1, for all it feels very rural.
The site is still in its first season, so everything feels very 'new', with the planting of sapling trees and hedging here and there and lovely handmade picnic tables and seats dotted around.
Our two boys loved having loads of space in the adjacent field to be able to kick a ball around without affecting other campers. The only improvement I could suggest (in terms of keeping the kids happy) would be a little play area with a swing/slide or something in the corner of the field - but perhaps this is a project the owners will consider putting their fab woodworking skills to further down the line, once the site is fully established!
It's definitely one we'll return to some time in the future.

Fantastic site, beautifully landscaped with tree and flowers, the toilets and showers are 1st rate.
Ross and his family take a great deal of pride in this site and it shows. Dog friendly in as much as Ross gave our dog a ball and a toy to play with!. The site is lovely and flat and in places it isn't Ross provides the chocks needed. One last thing PLEASE don't go we want it to be our little secret !

This site may be a recent addition to the area but old fashioned values prevail. A warm friendly welcome from Loraine on arrival and help from Ross with chocs was greatly appreciated.
They obviously take great pride in their site but importantly they want their guests to enjoy it, kids and dogs are made very welcome. The shower and toilet facilities are excellent and the whole site is well maintained.
Bedale itself is a short walk away but the location of this site, just off the A1 but surrounded by beautiful countryside and wonderful market towns made it a perfect destination for us. I am sure we will return.

Just returned from 2 brilliant nights. What a lovely site and a great owner Ross who has put his heart and soul into this site.
This is a new site and everything possible is being done to make your stay the best. It is in a lovely area about a 15 min walk from Bedale where there are plenty of shops and a couple of pubs.
The field is big and the 5 hook ups are very well spaced out. The shower and toilet block is new and spacious. They even have an information hut where you can lounge on sofas - great if you are in a tent and its raining! Very quite - lots of birds to listen to!
Great dog walk around the fields where your dog can be off the lead. Can not find fault with anything and we'll definitely be back!

The wife and I stayed here over Easter in a motorhome. The site has just opened and we had the pleasure of being one of their first customers.
Not everything was fully working as the owner was still putting finishing touches to the site, but this was explained when booking and wasn't a problem to use. Within the next couple of weeks it should be fully completed.
The location of the site is very good. It's less than a mile to Bedale which has many pubs and shops. Bedale is just a few miles from the A1, so the site is easy to get to. It would also make an ideal overnight stop if travelling far on the A1.
Pitches are spacious, each with its own EHU. The view is quite nice with sheep in the next field. The owner is working on access through the field which would be used to walk into Bedale.
There is a large toilet and shower block, Elsan point and washing up area. There are bins with recycling and plenty of water taps. There is also an information cabin.
The owner is very friendly and helpful and as a camper himself, obviously cares a great deal about his new site. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return.
