We stayed in one of their static caravans as a base to take our children to Paulton's Park, about 20 miles away. The caravan was very nice, with lots of little extras that made a difference (tea towels and washing up liquid, toilet rolls, salt/vinegar)
The park is totally flat, ideal for tents and caravans. It's clean and very well kept. Very peaceful site with nice views. Nice park for the kids.
If we were to camp in the area, would definitely use this site.

The camp site had beautiful views and was very clean good facility's. However. It was very strict lots of don`ts and the owners drove round sometimes without paying attention, in a golf buggy policing this, very near where the children were allowed to play.
We went with my sister and mother in law who stayed in one of the caravans which was lovely, but the staff told us off for going in the caravan to see them so our niece could come out and play with our children but our children were not allowed in the caravan to play with her. My sister in-law was told of by the site manager for making a cup of tea for my husband in one of the mugs from the caravan.
A lot of the rules seemed very petty, our children were told of for playing with a very small pocket kite which they were running along with on a very short string just by our tent, the man who owns the site shouted at them saying 'we don't have a licence for kites. ' which really upset the children, my children are well behaved they were not loud and there was no other campers near by they could have been annoying.
We definitely will not be returning to this site which is also the opinion of the rest of our family.

Coombe Park caravan park was great the pitches were level the facilities were amazing better than some hotels I have stayed in. The owners were wonderful so helpful and polite. The views from the park were gorgeous. My only regret was that we could not stay longer. The provision of picnic tables and BBQ's was an added advantage.

Visited for the first time over Easter. Found it easily. Large roomy pitches with lovely views if you are near the front. Very well looked after, beautiful gardens and floral displays. There are a couple of 'do not' signs, like 'no kite flying' etc. Well, this is because they want to keep this lovely site lovely, and there isn't the room for kite flying. 'No ball games in tent area', same reason, although two boys thought they would do it, after been sent away from the large play area for kicking their ball against the newly-painted toilet wall! If you want loads of relaxed room for kids, don't go to Coombe. Shop not huge but has basics, plus tourist info. Loos and showers spotless, although hubby went to use loo one evening and found no loo roll. Not much in the way of eateries nearby, unless you go to Salisbury. We tried the Fox & Goose one night and were very disappointed with the food. Although not expensive, the meal I had was a waste of time. I chose the plaice with pots and veg as a low fat option. The plaice has been scored all over, so cooking on the bone had become pointless as the juices inside ran out. On top was a dollop of either margarine or spreading butter, which I scraped off. The potatoes were boiled new, but the sad veg were a disgrace. I sent them back, and was given exactly the same. Good beer selection though. Take the time to find the White Hart, which is much better. We would return to both Coombe and the White Hart.

When we visited only 4 other units on site. Despite this all showers / toilets were open and had been cleaned. The site is very well maintained, for example all the planters and bedding areas had new plantings, lots of bulbs etc. The owners work really hard on keeping this site to a high standard.
Our pitch was hardstanding with ehu - perfect for March. Lovely views from all around the site. A good motorhome service point and a chem disposal point which are well away from pitches.
The lay owner was very welcoming and very helpful telling us about the area.
The site has been there for over 30 years but feels so well kept it is hard to judge its age. As previous reviewers have said right next to race course - we could see the track from our pitch so would imagine its a great place to stay when racing in on as the bars and restaurants for the race course would be open.
A good site we would use again and happily recommend others to do so.

Just arrived back from a really wonderful 7 night stay at Coombe caravan park (adjacent to Salisbury Race course). This really is a lovely relaxing site with good facilities all round. Grass pitches with plenty of room around you with most having electric hook ups, there are also a few hard standing for caravans/mobile homes but most people just went for the grass. The owners work very hard on the site with them cleaning and mopping out the toilets and other facilities at 5;30 every morning. This site has a little shop for milk and such like but there is a one stop shop about 2 miles for site as is the nearest pub and its a 10 minute drive into Salisbury so transport is needed really. There is a small park for the children with a playing field at the side (which most of the kids made great use off). A lot of Foreign families use this site too which was good. All in all a lovely site with beautiful surroundings, great for a relaxing holiday or to use as a base for the many tourist areas worth visiting will definitely be returning.

We visited this site with our relatives and had 2 adjacent pitches. What a lovely surprise! Beautiful grassy piches, well maintained and very pretty with all the trees. A perfect pitch, with water and bin nearby and kids play park just nearby. Just a good size, so near to the toilets which is one of the best I have experienced in the 8 years since I started camping. The owner is a lovely lady who didn't mind telling us about the nearby attractions.
Lots of Dutch and German families visiting which just goes to show what a quality site it is, as these campers have high expectations of their sites.
Will definitely return. Also 4 static caravans for hire at good rates. Another positive is that it's open all year. I hope the rates will stay as competitive. Loved it!

Very pretty site, in a quiet location with outstanding views. Loved the bbq areas and bench seating which were only 30 yards from the tent and offered some shade and comfort while eating. The shower block was fine and kept clean whilst we were there. Had some noise from a static van on the friday night, but this was dealt with and no re-occurance on sat night. We did a walk into salisbury on Saturday which took about 1hour 30 minutes and was on footpath most of the way, this was an easy walk with a small hill both ways, trainers would be ok if the ground is dry. All in all a good site and would recommend.

We visited Coombe Park in may for a short stay.
This was our 3rd time. Second time here (april) friends joined us in a static van.
At £45 a night.
We enjoy it so much we will return again soon.
Showers etc are good.
It is situated next to race course. We went on a race day and as I have never seen horse racing before it was good to watch.
Ten min drive into Salisbury town.
Lots to see and do from this site.

Just got back from a wonderful bank holiday weekend.
This was our first visit to this site and we received a warm welcome by the owners, as we have 4 children she had put us on a pitch that overlooks the play park which was a thoughtful touch.
There are different pitches available, hard and grass standings, and there are options for 'open' pitches or pitches that have hedges around them for a little more privacy, so there's something to suit everyone.
The shower block is large enough but only has 3 showers, although I didn't have to queue for them other people did, the showers are clean enough but could do with an update, ideally with sensor showers as I find the push button ones annoying as I have long hair as do my girls. In the ladies section there are also private sinks. There is also a liquid soap dispenser now. Full disabled bathroom is also available as well as a children's bathroom, it would be nice to see a shower also included in the children's bathroom. All in all though the shower block was fine with plenty of hot water.
Previous reviews mention that new play equipment was needed, and that a new climbing frame had been installed, as I previously stated I have 4 kids aged 7-12 and they thoroughly enjoyed the play area, and spent quite a bit of time on the 'old' slide, there is also a basketball net that my son spent hours playing with, with new friends he made.
The site is literally on the Salisbury race track and is an ideal location if you are planning on visiting the races (as we did, for a family race day).
If you're planning on staying for the race track the location is ideal, otherwise there didn't seem to be much else close by. I. E pub within walking distance or convenience store within walking distance.
There is also a basic shop, a tourist information booth and a post box on site.
We will definitely return to this site again.
