Stayed here for the weekend, pitches are fantastic, hard standing and astro turf for awning if you wanted. Area very quiet, not a lot going on. If you like canal fishing its for you. Southport only 15 mins away by car. Very nice site if you want a peaceful break. Will go back again as I want my smiley face sticker to give me a free weekend.

Just returned from a nice weekend at Shaw Hall.

Positives:- All pitches fully serviced with own hook up, tap, t.V ariel that you can plug in and get all the freeview channels and also waste disposal (not toilet waste of course), each pitch also have a astro turf bit where you can erect your awning if you wanted to do this.

Nice bar on site, also well stocked shop selling all the essentials

Situated next to the Leeds/Liverpool canal so ideal for fishing, got nice putting green and also crown green bowling.

Just 10 mins drive into Southport.

A Tesco and Morrisons supermarket are only a 10 min drive away.

Negatives:- Touring area a little narrow and you would probably struggle to reverse your van onto the pitch, but this didn't create much of a problem, as everyone just unhooked their vans and pushed it onto the pitch.

Was sometimes quite noisy at night as the seasonal tourer residents must have parties all weekend, but wasn't that bad.

Overall I would definitely go back next week as my two kids loved it.

After reading the other comments I must agree with all of them yes, the service road not too wide all in a row , astro turf wonderful for the awning and just one more comment, I love the place. We visit lots of times during the year leaving the caravan mid week sometimes.
The surrounding area is lovely, Southport second to none, Ormskirk market wonderful and as for the sunday car boot not a better one anywhere.
We are not exclusive to the site for our evening entertainment as we use the local pub the Heaton Bridge we are now classed as locals as they are so friendly aroung there. The comment about the staff well we have always found that if we talk nice to them they are always very pleasant. Wish I could leave my caravan there always. Keep the good work up.

Just the two of us visited this site for a weekend in June, was ok for that but wouldn't like to stay for much longer.

Touring caravans in "soldier like" fashion, the astroturf where the awning goes is a great idea, never seen this before.  Pitches are large enough to take a twin axle but there is not much room actually between caravans.  Next door's car is right outside your window.  A lot of the touring caravans seemed to be seasonal and everybody knows everybody else.  Did feel a little bit out of place although people did speak.

The shop sells everything you could want while there.  The club seems very relaxed on a Friday but Saturday turns into a usual northern club with all the women dressed to high heaven trying to outdo one another, not your usual casual drinking hole.  Don't go in jeans, you need your diamantes and stiletoes, and be prepared for an early start, we went at 8.30 and couldn't get in the concert room.

Saying this, it was an enjoyable weekend and Ormskirk market on Saturday is definitely worth a visit.

Would return but only for a few days.

Just come back from a weekend break at Shaw Hall. The regimented touring pitches over looked by static caravans have plenty of space even for a twin axle unit. They all have hard standing for caravan, artificial grass for awning & paved area for car parking. Each pitch has its own water/electric/waste/tv connection. Only drawback are the pitches are difficult to access when the site is full due to a narrow service road.

The owner has recently invested in refurbishing the entertainment complex which looks fantastic. Bar prices are reasonable kids were happy with the disco. We weren't happy with the foul language of other guests in the entertainment complex. These people weren't 16, 17 years old but 40, 50 & 60 years old. On Site burger van was OK if a little pricey. Kids enjoyed the play area and football field. Toilets were short of a regular clean.

We stayed on this site for a weekend in September. Ok for a couple of days but wouldn’t like to spend too long here. Arrived at 6pm and had to go to pub to get ‘checked in.’ The lady who did this had no site map or anything and directed us off into the static area. We followed the road round and were met with 2 metal posts at the corner which looked impossible to get thru with the van on. A guy from the nearby static promptly came out to guide us thru as he was an ex lorry driver and often saw people get stuck here! Not a great start to the weekend!

When we did get to our pitch the van was parked on concrete and there is astro turf for the awning and then a paved area for your car and a small area to sit out in. Great layout, but it did however mean that next doors car was parked right up to our van, which proved noisy when they returned late in the night. Touring area was nothing like the brochure which showed vans parked on open plan grass. Maybe they have moved the tourers since it was printed?

The pitch was a super pitch complete with ariel point which was fab. Toilets and showers were ok. Nice and clean. Only 1 key given for toilet block though, which was a bit of a pain.

The site has a club house which we didn’t actually use. Burger bar and kids coin operated rides outside. Kids play area and playing field were good but quite a distance from touring area so kids could not go without an adult. Site staff not the friendliest.

 Every weekend!!
This is the best caravan site I have ever been to in my life!!!
There is a friendly shop with all the necssary needs for your stay, a park and a football pitch for the children and a bar and entertainment for the adults and children!!
Im sure you will have as good a time as I have had!

We have visited this site many times. Excellent pitches, all with hook-up, small shop, nice club house and bar. Has childrens entertainment on friday nights. Saturday nights, under 14 years must leave club at 10pm.
Site is situated along side the canal, good for walks etc.
Areas to visit are Ormskirk town-
great for shopping, eating-out, and has nice Saturday market.
Also Southport town- great fun-fair, gardens, shopping pubs etc.
Shawhall caravan park is definitely worth a visit.
