This is a well located site with wonderful surroundings!
The swimming pool and pub on site just cannot be beaten! We were lucky to have great weather which made the pool even more appealing!
The pitches were well spaced out with lots of room per pitch.
Lovely owners, great site and great cycling areas!

We went as a group with 4 tents in total and 4 families with children. We had a great time despite the weather. Kids loved the swimming, the freedom the camp site offered where they could go off on their bikes and we as adults could sit and relax and not have to worry for their safety.
Facilities where really clean and well maintained.
Loved our weekend there and look forward to returning again in the near future.

We booked into this site from Monday 23rd till Sunday 29th, on arrival we were greeted with a good reception and shown to our plot, which was the far end of the site on the left hand side, the pitch was large but uneven and very off putting, could not understand why we were placed there as the camp was very quiet, to use the toilet/shower facilities was a long walk and with no lighting would have been a nightmare in the dark, shower and toilet blocks were very clean, I think the major moan we have is the site shows a lovely clubhouse/pub but did not inform us when either we booked or arrived that it was only open at the weekend, a note was placed on the reception door, just feel if they have this kind of facility they should either inform you it is closed or bite the bullet and open it, reception had the normal bits and pieces should you require milk etc, we decided to leave Friday teatime as the weather forecast was not good. Personally we would not be going back there and find it hard to give too many positive good remarks

Lovely, clean, fantastic value for money, well that’s enough about me now….
Having just returned from spending the May bank holiday weekend at Dower house I can truly say that it is the only place that once you arrive (and your wife puts up the tent) that you instantly have a feeling of relaxation. The site is spacious yet small enough to still feel safe when you have children running around. The camp and caravan site is well serviced by the on site shop and swimming pool and more importantly the pub. The site, toilet and shower blocks are very clean and well serviced, they seem to have a gentleman (sorry David) always walking around picking up any rubbish with a stick, not sure if he is a regular but he is doing a wonderful job.
All in all this is a fantastic place to camp or caravan and we truly hope none of you visit Dower house because we prefer it not to be too busy but if you do visit you will be made very welcome.

This was our first camping experience this year and unfortunately we picked the only wet days in July!
The site is lovely and nearly all the pitches back onto woodland (its actually the edge of Thetford Forest).
My children really loved it, it's very popular with families so they made lots of friends and I felt happy to let them explore.
The woodland had den building areas and plenty of paths to explore.
The pitches are generously sized and well maintained.
If you want to be near the play area then it's worth paying for electric hook up, the tent field is some distance from the play area but not far from the toilet block or pub.
We didn't actually eat in the pub but liked the atmosphere and the garden around it.
The owners are very helpful, they personally guide you to your pitch and also run a well-stocked shop. There is also an information centre on site too.
The swimming pool is quite small but the children loved it and great in the rain!
The children were so happy playing on site that we didn't go far. Thetford is a pretty market town with butchers and small supermarket too.
We'll look forward to returning.

This was our first ever camping experience and travelled only 15 minutes from home in case our tent fell down! Our boys are 3 and 5 and they had a great time making rope swings, in the pool, bike riding, ball games and walking through the woods.
The facilities were very clean and often saw the lady keeping on top of the toilets. I would definitely recommend this site for cleanliness!
Our only niggle is the way the restaurant takes card payments. It doesn't have the facility in the bar and they take your debit/credit card over night and you pay your bill at reception in the morning. Being new to camping we were unaware that cash was the preferred payment method, but there was no posters up informing guests of the way they work. I did feel sorry for the lad behind the bar as he was dealing with a lot of unhappy campers.
Other than that, it was a very good first experience (except for the weather) and we're looking forward to our next trip!

2. 4 family - tent with gazebo with hook up
Been here a few times on our own and with friends. Its quite close for us which is lovely. Set in beautiful surroundings. Plenty for the kids to do, play areas with badminton/tennis nets, climbing park & out door heated pools.
Facilities - toilets/showers - good but dated - very clean at all the times I used them.
Family run bar - nice to go for a proper beer, game of darts etc. Kids loved it too. And wasn't expensive either - which is good. On our visit we had food from the bar - which was basic pub food but a good amount and reasonable.
Very large sized plot - with enough space from your neighbours.
The only bad point - is the mosquitos - being near the woods you will get bitten! take plenty of spray and creams for your trip and enjoy the lovely campsite.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Shop on site with essentials.
Conclusion - yes we will return.

Stayed for two nights over a hot weekend. Our allotted pitch was huge (our hook up cable didn't reach the socket on the first allocated pitch)and shady of an evening, which was great as it kept our bedrooms cool.
Hot water in the showers (push button) which were clean, my only niggle would be that a little bit of updating / maintenance could be given to push my score up from 4/5 to 5/5. Although the site was quite busy we didn't have to queue for either toilet or shower.
Our children enjoyed the small pool, which was popular due to the lovely weather.
We ate in the bar on our first night, we found the menu restricted and food ok, it filled us up and we didn't have to walk or drive far.
We loved the sites situation amongst the forest and felt very close to nature. We would definitely return asap, as my 10 and 14 year olds had a great time. Oh yes it was a 20 minute drive to Go Ape, which we recommend, even if you don't do the tree top course just go to enjoy the cycle paths and swings etc with a picnic.

We stayed here with our friends. We had five children between us.
We had a great stay and would return.
You gain access to the site through woods which made a beautiful setting.
The outside pool in front of a beautiful house was fantastic but rules were strict on safety. No diving etc.
It had a good children's playground.
The bar was lovely with darts, table tennis, a football table and a pool table.
The owners were constantly checking the site and the guests which I found reassuring.
We all loved our stay here.

This was my first visit to this site. I was camping with my wife and 2 young children. We have a tent with electric hook up.
The site was easy to find and has a very large sign out the front so the turning can’t be missed. The road down to the site is an unmade road with forest on either side. My children were hugely excited from the moment we turned into this road, as it gave the appearance we were heading deep into the forest.
First impressions of the site were very good. The arrival area was very open and tidy. The receptionist was very polite and we were escorted down to our pitch by another helpful member of staff. As we had booked with another family who had a caravan, our pitch was number 247 within the caravan section. This was a lovely big, flat pitch only 3 metres from the entrance to the forest. The children’s play area was also only 30 metres away.
I found the facilities brilliant. The washing up area was clean and spacious. Despite the site being near full, I only had to queue once. There was also a laundry area and good baby changing facilities. The pub and shop had all that was required. The showers and toilets were also plentiful and I never had to queue for either. The children’s play area was fantastic and kept my children occupied for 4 days. The swimming pool had just been opened on our arrival. Despite the temperature of the water (rather chilly as it hadn’t been used since the previous year) the children loved it nonetheless.
A few negatives to mention. My wife commented that the female toilets and showers weren’t always the cleanest and on one occasion she actually cleaned a shower cubicle before using it. The queue in the pub of an evening was rather long; an extra member of staff would have been handy. This site is tailored to families, unfortunately a very rowdy bunch nearby were loud up until the “curfew time” of 11pm. I think maybe this time should be lowered to 10pm.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and one I hope to repeat later in the season. I must again compliment the staff who were polite and helpful at all times.
