We visited in early July for our first trip in a tent with our 3 year old and 1 year old.
We had a fantastic time and really couldn't fault the site. It was fantastic for the kids.
A nice little play area, lovely swimming pool (although the kiddies pool was cold), far away from any roads, so no noise and no light pollution.
It's obviously a well known site as despite it just being a regular weekend (no school hols or bank holiday) the site was pretty busy.
The shower blocks were nice and clean, as were washing up areas etc.
A great site, nicely located in Thetford forest with lots of biking and walking trails. We loved it.

We stayed here, 3 tents, 7 children, 5 adults and 2 dogs. In half-term. There was plenty of rooms in the camping field and were able to pitch our three tents together, anywhere we pleased. The only restrictions was the 6 metre rule between tents.
This is a great friendly site. I would agree with other reviews regarding molehills. Whilst a few molehills aren't a problem, they did make the field incredibly muddy when it rained, and it rained.
My only criticism would be regarding the shower block. The toilets housed two showers, but the main shower block had no toilets, other than one in the disabled shower. The main shower block also didn't have any sinks, which was an inconvenience.
On the whole though, it is a lovely site and we would definitely return.

We camped at Dower House for a week in May and really liked the site. Our pitch also had electricity. The kids loved the pool and used it every day. The whole site is geared towards families and this was really nice. There is a pub on site which also serves meals and this was very handy. There is also a decent shop which is well stocked. There are plenty of tracks/paths around the site to cycle or walk the dog in the forest. We found the facilities really good and the showers/toilet blocks were kept very clean. The washing up sinks are indoors which is handy if the weather is bad!

Visited Dower House at the weekend and really liked this site although it was a little noisy as it was very busy. Toilets and showers were clean with lashings of hot water. Our pitch was roomy with room to sit out as well as put the car. We had brought our bikes and there were plenty of trails through Thetford Forest nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful and the site shop reasonably stocked with essentials etc.
We would definitely revisit if we return to the area and would recommend it to our friends.

Excellent site, a really friendly welcome from the wardens who showed us to our pitch which was large and level.
All the facilities were clean and well cared for. The site was well laid out with a small shop and useful information area. It was nice to have the bar on site.
There is a swimming pool that during warm weather looks an idea place to be.
Next to no light pollution at night, so on clear nights the stars look amazing.
Take care on the access road to the site as it is a bit bumpy but well worth the journey.
We will certainly return

Spent 3 nights here. On arrival was shown to our pitch, huge it was, plenty of room. Location was nice. Deer could be seen early am.
Showers were clean. Small shop but did sell quite a bit, other facilities were also good.
Mole hills were a bit annoying, don't know if there bad all season.
Swimming pool was closed, but looked ok,
Kids play areas looked nice
The site wasn't that busy but possibly is in high season
All in all we had a pleasant stay and will go back.

We have been visiting The Dower House for years on and off, we have used the lower field with groups of friends were you tend to pitch up where you like. The upper area is were the pitches are marked out and have electric etc, some pitches are medium sized and some are huge. There is a small pool which to be fair we tend not to use these days, we did when the kids were younger. The pub on site is ok and has always had basic food in the past. The showers etc are always nice and clean.
What this site is all about is its location, being in the middle of Norfolk it's so easy to visit various beaches in Norfolk or even Suffolk if you don't mind a drive. Now the huge Thetford forest centre is close by and great for exploring. Right at the edge of the campsite is the woods were kids can go and add to dens that other kids have made the weeks before. If you explore these woods you might even come across the hidden semi run down church that's right in the woods, most unexpected.

We love this site, we have been three times now (once in a tent and twice in a tourer - all times with electric)and we will go back again.
The hook up pitches are lovely and big, although beware you may need something to level out your unit but most people should expect this in woodland. Our latest pitch did have moles visiting which is a little annoying as you are continually battling soil mounds but again the owners can not overcome the natural environment.
Talking of the owners and wardens they are always around and on hand with a positive and friendly attitude. It is nice to have a friendly welcome and to be escorted to your pitch and shown where the facilities are. Top marks for customer service.
I find that the facilities are of a good standard. The main toilet block has been refurbished and looks nice, if I am being overly critical the secondary smaller toilet block (near the reception which we were nearer) could do with being kept cleaner in the sense that there was insects in it. But every time I went there was soap, paper and hand towels. I found the cleanliness good and think its a great idea to have squeegee in the showers. If only all campers would use them.
My 6 year old son loved the pool and didn't care that it was coldish. I am not so brave.
The surrounding area is great. Loads of lovely walks and a church you can find. As mentioned by another reviewer high lodge is definitely worth a day out (and you would easily be entertained for the whole day)
We did use the pub and were satisfied by the choice of food and drink. We would prefer it to be open more and would particularly think it wise to open earlier on a friday and saturday when people are arriving (same for the shop) but maybe it is just us and there is no real call for it but we were desperate to eat by 7. The burgers and chips are more than reasonably priced but then some of the meals were a tad expensive for what was standard pub grub (scampi and chips £9. 50)
My son thinks the facilities are great, a play area, football pitch, volleyball net, swimming pool and a forest on hand to build dens. He would rate the camp 10 out of 10 and that makes for happy parents.
Finally I do think the bumpy access road needs a mention as some people may be put off by it.

Just come home after spending a week on this site. What an amazing place to go, clean friendly and as for the kids, what can I say, my only concern is trying to find another site to match this one.
Two girls aged 16 and 15 and a son aged 9 and none of them wanted to leave the site in the seven days we where there, there is so much for them to do.
The wild life was amazing, and the pitches are huge. The shop although looked small, we were amazed at all the things inside we needed for nothing, and the staff both inside shop and outside were lovely.
The play area was safe and fun and the toilet blocks were kept very clean. The pool was maintained really well.
The walks through the woods are to die for. I can't think of anything negative to say about this site other than we had to come home. Will for sure be making this a regular for our family.

We visited this campsite in the summer holidays for five nights and I have to say that it is a fantastic site.
The location and facilities are very good and the sight is not overcrowded and the plots are large (6 metres between tents)
We took two children and they had a great time playing in the pool most of the day. The site has a small shop and a pub and plenty of showers and toilets. The staff are very friendly and helpful + If you arrive early you can park right near the pool and reception and use the pool.
The only main problem I had was my ice packs went missing from the communal freezers, so I would recommend they consider a check in and out system at the reception + some people were moaning about the mole hills and wasps, but in my opinion they are not a real problem.
If I had to rate this site, it would be 9&1/2 out of 10 and we will definitely visit again!
