We completely agree with everything said in previous posts. Facilities were as good as you'll get anywhere (and we've 'been about a bit. ' Management very friendly and helpful, and the site is convenient for whatever your needs are. We only had a short stay, but will be back for more in 2013. We worried that the pub might have been noisy on the Saturday night, but this was definitely not the case, despite the fact that there was entertainment on.
No criticisms - we can't really fault the place at all, so highly recommended!

Lovely, well kept campsite in a very convenient location for visiting York. Particularly if you're travelling from the North, it's just minutes off the A19 and very easy to find. Very friendly and helpful owners. I wanted to arrive before midday which wasn't a problem for them. Its a small site and some of the pitches looked a bit cramped and not much privacy, but there are a couple of corner pitches which are much larger and have higher hedges for privacy (ask for pitch number 3 if you like your space and privacy)
Facilities are very clean, although only one shower and toilet in the ladies, which may be an issue if all 14 pitches were taken.
The Lysander Arms pub looked lovely with a very nice beer garden, although I didn't actually eat or drink there (quite a limited menu and a bit too expensive for me, although for the convenience of being able to have a drink and walk 30 metres back to your van, its probably worth a bit extra for some people) Its a 10 minute walk to the park and ride and also very easy to find.
Buses into York are every 10 minutes and cost £2. 30 return for adults (and I think it said 2 children travel free) Only about a 15 minute journey into York.
I think the campsite is a bit too expensive for what it is (£25) and may explain why it had plenty of vacancies when other campsites I tried to book were full. But if you don't mind paying that price its certainly a very pleasant and convenient place to stay.

Excellent will be back. Pub friendly, not tried food yet. Been in York or in van. Perfect for York. Excellent bar staff, locals spot on, a must try. Plug and play tv super pitches kept clean and tidy. Tesco 10 mins walk as is retail park + another pub. Good frequent buses into town. Set in nice reasonable quiet housing estate but don't be put off by this. More sites like this please.

1st visit to this lovely site. We wanted to be close to York and this site fitted the bill. Clean, well spaced out pitches with hook up, waste disposal, fresh water and TV ariel.
So handy for everything. The pub is very nice and spotlessly clean. We didn't eat there but menu looked great. Only 1 shower and toilet per block but it was quiet when we were there so no problems waiting for other people.
Park and ride into York just up the road and Clifton Moor retail park 5 minutes away. Will definitely return to this little site. A credit to the owners

I agree with the previous reviews ie pleasant gastro pub with entertainment, spotless shower - toilet block, close to centre of York so if you're touring and that's all you want I dare say it would be ideal. But this is a urban site and it has no views apart from the shower block in the middle, there are 3 storey houses over looking on one side and the pitches though well appointed are quite close together
It also claims to be adult only and there were children present.

We stayed there recently and it was a lovely site ideally situated for exploring the City of York. The ladies facilities-washroom, shower, toilet - were in excellent order and extremely clean the whole time. Every lady on site used the facilities constantly and come rain or shine, day or night, they were always pristine. Since we were an all lady party we could not comment on the gents but I'm sure they were equally as pristine as the ladies'. The site itself was clean and neat and tidy with a patch of grass for each hard-standing pitch, pretty level, too, and quite private. The site itself is small, with the pub right there beside it. There was a few muted voices from the pub late at night but nothing rowdy. We don't have a dog, but there was plenty of well-kept walkways nearby to exercise your pooch with dog-poo bins at every 500 yards. All water, chemical disposal point, electric hookup was situated on every individual pitch, which was great for private disposal being a convenience well worth the cost of the pitch per night. I know of several sites which charge the same price without having this luxury. We found the owners friendly and helpful and approachable. In fact, we had a problem with our electrics in our Motorhome, and our lights cut out, but the site manager bent over backwards to help us. He came to do a diagnostic check on all the facilities, the fuses in our van, and even let us borrow one of their own table lamps when nothing else could be done! It was a great experience and we would recommend this site to anyone, but advise you to book earlier to ensure a space. We will definitely be returning.

Third visit to this excellent small site. As always, very pleased with it.
Facilities: Spotlessly clean and modern shower block.
Pitches: Large, all hardstanding with personal waste disposal, water, EHU and TV point.
Pub: Good, busy pub with good food and loads of entertainment.
Location: The walk into York is half an hour. There is a Park n Ride 10 mins walk away and a retail park with many stores and buses into York 5 mins walk away.

I love this site! This was our 4th visit, each time we come we're more than satisfied. Clean, quiet and easy to reach. Toilets and showers are the best I've seen, though if I have one complaint it's that there is only 1 loo in the ladies and 1 in the gents. The food at the pub is great, very fresh and imaginative menu. At Clifton Moor Retail Park is another pub. The Flying Legend, good family pub, a 2-for-1 meal place.
For dog walkers there is a great field and beyond that a large lake. Just turn left out of the pub carpark and keep going!

First visit to this site but not the last.
Small but select site, toilet/showers spotless power showers are very good. Site pub is the Lysander arms good food and entertainment. The site is a short walk to Clifton moor shopping center, we went to the site with other caravan friends, all delighted.

Second visit to this great little site. Again, immaculate facilities. Power showers have plenty hot water and soap and lotion is even provided. All pitches are block paved hardstanding with private 'super pitch' facilities. The site was very quiet midweek. The walk into York takes about half an hour; the park 'n' ride takes about 10 minutes and is £2 return. Highly recommended.
