AUGUST 2003 This site is ideally situated for the beautiful Northumbrian coastal towns of Bamburgh and Seahouses. The site is not big and friendly. The only problems were that the ladies toilet block on the tent area could do with some maintainence attention, e.g. locks on some doors and locks on shower doors. Also the showers were never all that warm, infact freezing at some points.
We did go at the very height of the season and the site was full to bursting point, so this would not have helped with the temperature of the showers, although it was only 8 am when we wanted a shower.
Also the childrens playarea is a long way from the tent/touring area, so bikes would be a handy item to take. This site has been given a 2 star rating from Northumbrian council, which I would say is about right.

22nd-25th august Had a great time here. But beware you have to be prepeared to rough it a bit. So why did I have a good time? The surrounding country and beaches are the best I've seen , a must see is Bamburg Castle 2 miles away and the white sands it looks on to, and also Holy Island about 6 miles drive north.
The site made a great base for getting out and about and if this is your plan and all you want is a cheap and cheerful place to get your head down, after a few beers and bbq then this is it. If you want key padded entry to power showers and swimming pools go somewhere else.
All the above from Alison and Anna is correct, water is more cold than hot, Gents had two showers that had seen better days, and the toilet facilities could do with a good lick of paint.
Biggest pain was the wait for the one pot wash sink though. Comments above on the bins where true, but I have to say in fairness a tractor came and removed all bags twice a day when the dalick bins got full so it wasn't smelly or unsightly. Also I found the warden disinfecting the toilets and showers each day which is one of the reasons the toilet floors are wet, so again in fairness a good reason for them being found that way.
Given this was a last minute job for myself as well and on a Bank Holiday weekend I couldn't moan as the surrounding area leaves a greater impression !!!!!

Aug 2003 We went to this site as we hadn't booked anywhere and this was the only place with room.
It has a nice relaxed atmosphere and the site warden was helpful, but I'd like to echo the last reviewer's comments about facilities. The shower/toilet block by the touring pitches can be pretty grim. The showers are badly done so they're cramped and spew water everywhere. The biggest problem though was the lack of hot water - wash very early or wait until afternoon or you'll have a cold shower. At the very least, check the water temperature at the taps before wasting your money.
However, compared to many other local sites, this was cheap - £8 per night for 2 people plus tent.
