Returned a couple of days ago from this site.

GOOD POINTS

Wonderful location if you like a quiet area. Located about halfway between Amroth and Saundersfoot, both of which are accessible by a short(ish) walk.

The site when we were there was very quiet (noise wise that is).

The shop was very well stocked with some fresh veg. AND I got a VERY good price on a bottle of bacardi (at least £2 cheaper than Tesco)! Staff were very helpful and friendly. On our first day a gentleman was standing by the door waiting to open it for customers!

Just across the road (lane) from the beach - lovely for an early morning walk. Less than a minute from our tent.

Waking up to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach was out of this world.

The pub across the road was very friendly and helpful - they do let dogs in (just in the bar), so it's useful if you want to go out to eat.

Plenty of hot water in showers (tho not many showers - see bad points). One token is more than ample for a lengthy shower and hair wash.

BAD POINTS:

The site is set on marshland and, as far as we could see, the back of the site has only been 'backfilled' with topsoil so it is VERY VERY wet when it rains! In fact, we left early simply because it was like Glastonbury on a bad weekend when we were there! Covered in mud even on the journey back from the showers.

At least two tents left early while we were there due to their tents actually floating!

Minimal washing/showering facilities (see bad points), but hot water was ok and they were clean enough. Toilet paper replenished regularly.

The pub, as above, is very friendly BUT is very expensive for food. Although the food is extremely good and could not be faulted, we paid £55 for two of us for a starter and a main each with 3 drinks. Very expensive if you want to eat out a couple of times in the week with your kids!

No soap in the washing facilities - plenty of hot water but severe lack of facilities. Two toilets for females (one had no working lock), and only one for the males which included 2 urinals, one toilet and 2 washbasins which means you're cleaning your teeth while someone else is peeing potentially!

Some bright spark had decided to wash out their sandy wetsuit (or something) in one of the female showers and blocked the drain. This remained blocked for at least 2 days (was still blocked when we left).

No soap in the wash facilities for ladies which wasn't a problem for us as we take our own, but could come as a shock for others.

GENERALLY

This, I think, would be a lovely place to stay IF you can guarantee it's not going to rain heavily. It's a shame they can't sort out the drainage during the bad weather because this could be such a wonderful site.

The site location (50m from beach) is very nice and only a 25 minute walk to Saundersfoot.

There is a circle of level gravel pitches for tourers which is fine, but separated by a ridge in the ground is an area where it seemed to be a 'free for all' for tents and tourers.

Site facilities:

Toilet/shower block is very basic and it is pot luck if there will be toilet paper (ladies and gents). There was no soap for the week and a half that I was there. Showers cost 50p and lasts only 4 minutes.

The shop stocks all your basic needs but is an average of 75% more expensive than what you are probably used to paying.

Pub/restaurant food is good but pricey and if you like a rowdy bar atmosphere then this is for you. However, there are many bar/restaurants in Saundersfoot and Tenby at reasonable prices.

The site would benefit from having TV ariel points as there is no reception at all.

We stayed for 3 nights mid-week and were lucky to arrive in the dry. We were camping with a 2yr old for the 1st time.

The site can be split into two. One half looks to have been recently engineered with hard standing pitches aimed more at caravans and motorhomes. We were told that these hardstanding pitches are also available to tents although we opted to camp on a grassed pitch.

The other half of the site looks to be the original hardstanding areas with grassed areas in between. The grassed areas were a little muddy as you would expect after rain but good size for a 4-6man tent. All the pitches on both sides had electrical hook-up available. All pitches also had a picnic table each.

The wash/toilet block looks to have been recently painted and refurbished. They were clean and well lit. Only two gripes were that there never seemed to be enough hot water in the bathrooms and washing up sinks in the mornings although plenty at night. The site also need to install some hooks or shelves around the wash areas so that you can hang a towel or put down a wash bag other than on the floor.

There were 3 electric showers and the one we used was nice and clean. Tokens can be bought from the shop for 50p each. Each gives you 10mins.

The site is covered by CCTV but is not secure and anyone could come in off the beach and wander around the site.

The site is in a great location with the beach over the road, a good shop within 2mins walking and a pub with good food also within 2mins walking. Although nothing for children on site, you have the beach directly across the road. You also have excellent blue flag beaches at Saundersfoot, a short 20min walk away.

Will definitely be visiting again out of school holiday as I imagine it would be very busy during this period.

You can't beat this campsite for location, its literally 100 yrds from the beach, which is dog friendly all yr round, clean and accessible.

The site is run by the pub, which is also more or less on the beach, is dog/kid friendly & accommodating, food is good if a little pricey as is the beer - £10-15 ish for a main course, approx £3 a pint. They have 2 flat screen tvs for sport, a pool table, small amusement arcade & staff are friendly - very much a locals pub as much as visitors. The pub can be a little noisy as there is prob more seating outside than in - but it certainly didn't disturb us at all & wasn't over the top raucous.

The site itself is clean & tidy, but more geared towards vans than tents, we stayed when it was pretty quiet & no problem with our big tent, but with only 6 or 7 other similar/bigger tents on the 'main' site & 5 or 6 vans as well it was pretty much full. We were told they did not allocate pitches when we arrived so we could go where we liked, not sure if this would be the same high season/school hols as it wouldn't be practical. There is an 'overflow' camping field, which has no vehicle access (as far as we could see) so would mean lugging all your stuff down approx 100ft path - no toilet block/amenities/hook-ups either - it looked in fact much like a bare car-boot field - a short walk to the shower block etc attached to the statics part of the site(which I think also had a launderette tagged on).

The facilities on site were adequate for us but again as it was quiet it didn't really matter, 2 cubicles for ladies, 1 for men & 2 unisex showers which were big enough for both of us & dog to go in & take turns in the shower (50p per token which was plenty of hot water for 2 people), 2 washing up sinks, although water was never really hot at any time of the day. The site shop is small but well stocked for most things & is open 9-6pm, even at the weekend which was a little inconvenient if you forgot to buy milk/tokens and were up and about with the dawn chorus as we were, the nearest shop is a Spar in Saundersfoot approx 20 mins walk/5 mins drive, and there is a Sainsburys in Tenby approx 5 miles away. No play area/children's facilities but there are plenty of places to see/things to do in the local area.

We paid £15 a night for camping, dog was free & electric hook up may have been free as well but not sure as we didn't use it, very reasonable & we ended up staying an extra night.

We will definitely be returning, but only if we were guaranteed to be on the 'main' site - and definitely with an armload of citronella candles as the bugs from the trees in the field/woodland behind were horrendous every time we lit the stove!

Beautiful area, we were in the camping field without hook up. Very wet field though, as the marsh grass showed.

Signs point to a toilet block with only one toilet for each sex, cold water only and no soap or drying facilities. There are a couple more on the main site though, where hook up was available. Not spotless, but no queues either! Washing machine / drier available, no playground, and nowhere for the kids to go at all. Found the shop well stocked, although not much in the way of friendliness. Saundersfoot is 15 mins walk along the old railway and through three tunnels, the kids loved that bit! Amroth is the other direction, about the same distance along the coast path or the beach at low tide.

Loads of rockpools around, and lots of beaches and coves. Not a commercial area at all, only one small arcade in Saundersfoot. Tenby is very pretty, parking is very fair and available, and the beaches are sandy and spacious. Take insect repellent though, we had wasps in the tent daily, and my son was stung at Wisemans beach. The weather was horrid, and the field didn't stand up to it well, with damage done by stranded cars that will take some repairing. They don't seem to mind same sex occupants or dogs, and perfect if you want a couple of tents close together. No extra charges for more than 2 people either.

Overall I'd go to the area again, but expect more from a site, even at £12. Such a shame as with a little attention it'd be fully booked every year IMO.

We stayed for two nights at the end of April, the weather was very mixed with one gorgeous day sandwiched between two very wet ones! This meant we pitched our tent and took it down in very wet conditions.

Good Points!

Fantastic location, very short stroll to a lovely beach and friendly pub serving good food.

Site shop very well stocked and friendly staff. Cost only £10 a night for tent, two adults and EHU. Close proximity to the lovely Saundersfoot, flat coastal path or just a few minutes by car.

Not so good points!

As mentioned earlier, we pitched in the rain and we got extremely muddy due to poor drainage in the field. One camper van got stuck trying to drive off the flat field.

Very basic facilities. Only two showers that operate on a token system. These were very cramped and can only be described as grimy. Water was hot though!

The loos. The gents had two sinks but only one out of four taps working. Water only ever tepid. There was no separate washing facilities. I was brushing my teeth standing next to somebody having a wee. Nice! The ladies facilities consisted of two cubicles with a sink in each, again with only two out of four taps working and tepid water. No soap either. Cleaned once a day but always looked grubby.

Pot wash. Outside pot wash facilities under a small roof. No hot water morning or evening and again, grubby!

Would we go again? No! Luckily we didn't have our daughter with us. Would not have liked keeping her clean in the facilities.

This would be a great site if they upgraded the facilities due to its amazing location.

We arrived here for a long awaited two week stay. Although we were told we could have hard standing you cannot book a specific pitch and its a virtual free for all when you arrive. It had been raining heavy and the field was very muddy and people were obviously fighting for a 'dry pitch'. A couple in a caravan had decided to leave early and another couple with a folding camper had waited 2 hours for that pitch as it was relatively dry. We were then told to move onto that pitch much to the anoyance of the folding camper owners in front. This is just one example of what can happen on this site and why many people avoid it.

We pitched the caravan and awning and had a quiet couple of days in what is otherwise a good location next to the beach and pub etc.

Then the neighbours arrived with their extended family, dogs, loud teenagers and adults etc. Etc. They had as many gazebos as tents and set up a virtual commune, one of them pitched a few feet from our awning! We complained to the owners about the noise and it did settle down a little. They then started to wash their muddy feet under the main drinking water tap! yuck!

It's such a shame because with some careful planning , stricter rules and some better organisation then this site could be perfect with Saunderfoot in walking distance and a short car / bus trip to Tenby.

Would I go back ? Probably not - only with evidence of better organisation and stricter rules as above.

Spent a very cold and wet Easter break at WIseman's Bridge.

Can't fault the location or the site. Two female toilets, two showers - at first I thought that there may be a morning queue for the loo, but (even tho the site was relatively busy) it was fine.

Pitches are well spaced (hard and grass), pub is great (good food, sky sports and doggies allowed in).

Beach is stones throw from site and is lovely and lots to do nearby - even for teenagers (my two are 14 and 12) - Oakwood Theme Park looks great but it was a bit wet when we went to take a look so we didn't go in.

All in all 10/10

We went at the end of June, 2 Adults and 2 dogs £10 a night with electric hookup, fantastic price. The layout is very simple, the ground is level with hook up facilities and the toilets and showers we found clean. You can hear the waves on the rocks at night and to get up in the morning and go across the road to the beach with a great view. Great walk through to Saundersfoot, but dogs are not allowed on that beach. Look forward to going again.

We stayed for a 2 night weekend break and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was no sign of rubbish skips or marauding seagulls. Reading earlier reviews I think the toilet/showers must have been refurbished as there were 2 ladies toilets plus a shower. I thought the price was quite steep at £18 per night but the location was great with just a 20 min walk into Saundersfoot and with the beach right opposite the site. There's a choice of grass or hardstanding, the price is the same. We'll definitely be going back.
