Sorry but I disagree with the previous comments- toilet block run down which is fair enough at the price paid however in the 4 days we were there the toilets had not been cleaned and floor had not been swept beetles on floor I can put up with basic facilities but cannot accept the reason for toilets not been cleaned -the site was on a busy A road and most of tents were next to road a bit scary at night when traffic thundering past with just a hedge inbetween you and road. Only ate at pub on Sunday meal Ok but we were all hungry - didn't visit the pub again althougn others in our party had a few drinks and a game of pool. Nice area though.

We stayed overnight on Saturday at the beginning of June and were delighted with the location.
The facilities were more than acceptable and the people at the Inn were very hospitable.
With it being a cool weekend there were only five tents including ourselves. There were also three caravans but it was a quiet night.
There was plenty of space to pitch and easy access to the plentiful hook ups spaced on both sides of the central gravelled drive.
The lights down the centre of the camping field made it very easy to navigate around after sunset.
The shower and toilet facilities were lighted and acceptable but it was a short walk from the touring field through the upper section with the static caravan pitches to get to them.
Nearby Berwick was within easy reach by car and had a Saturday market and plentiful attractions.
The Salutation Inn did not open until eleven on the Sunday and there is an electric access barrier to the site which keeps the site secure.
The only downside to this location is the fast straight stretch of A road next to the field but by closing time only an infrequent number of vehicles were passing.
We enjoyed the stay and the leisurely start on Sunday - the owners had said 'leave when you like' so we did.

Campsite location good. Easy access to nearby bewick via car. Pub on site which is always a bonus as it also does meals. Nice owners.
Shower block was in process of getting repaired but wasn't a problem as owners gave us the key for the working shower/toilet block. Next to a busy road but not too noisy.
Only problem I had was the electricity kept tripping which wasn't good at 11pm when having a little heater on, would just get back in the tent and it would do it again.

Booked over the phone, never thought to ask if the Pub was open as last review said it was being refurbished. Still not done as builder had done a runner! They have now employed a new builder who will start in early October.
We have stayed before and were very pleased with the site.
The owner and his wife were very friendly and sited us next to them on a static hardstanding.
Unfortunately standards have slipped and the toilets and showers were very scruffy.
Spiders webs even across the ceiling in the shower and it looks like it had been a while since they had a good clean.
Mentioned this to the owners who apologised and said they would do them straight away.(And they did!)
As pub not open went along the road to The Plough at Allerdene for an excellent meal.
Hopefully when all is done at 'The Sally' things will be back to normal.

Last minute booking as we just decided on the day to go away and they were able to accommodate our tent for the night, Friday night £8 p/n. Several statics and two other tents when we were there.
The owners were very friendly (even gave us some milk as no shop on site). Two toilets, two basins and two showers, plenty of hot water and clean enough. Although no where to wash dishes other than bathroom at the moment.
No kids facilities though ie playground etc, Wonderful views of the country. Slightly noisy as right next to a road but didn't keep us awake at night. Should be nice enough once pub refurbishment finished and the new owners have made all the improvements they hope to make.

Just returned from a five day stay at Salution Inn, any report must be made in the context that this site is very much 'Work In Progress', the owners having only taken over 2 months ago. They undoubtedly face a challenge as the site ahs been somewhat run down and the adjacent pub is also requiring renovation, they are however, extremely hard working and unfailingly friendly and one hopes, very much, that they will succeed in making a success of the place
The site itself is ideally situated for rtouring the Borders being within easy reach of all the towns, Berwick, Duns, Kelso, Melrose, Jedburghetc and also the Northumbrian Coast and Lindisfarne.
At present the site is roughly split between statics and a touring area, the sites are level and well serviced with electric hook ups.
The toilet block/ dishwashing facility is at the site entrance, unfortunately at the opposite end from the touring pitches but both are clean and user friendly. The electrics played up a bit but it was Bank Holiday weekend and the site was full so a couple of glitches were bound to happen.
Given the friendly, helpful attitude of the owners, it is a site well worth considering, nothing was too much trouble for them. Eveeryone on site seemed to be having a good time and, while this probably isn't a site which will appeal to those who demand 'Peace and Quiet', manicured lawns and individual enclosed pitches, it was a friendly, fun site and my Wife and I, mature pensioners, enjoyed watching the children having a good time. We would definitely return and I hope lots of others do also, the hardw ork the new owners are putting in deserves to reap reward.

The site is small which we liked and the owner very friendly and helpful. The new owners are aware that the facilities need updating and improving and have done a lot to get the site up and running for the summer and have great plans for next year. The loos were basic but clean and all in all at £10 a night you really can't complain for an area that seems to be underserved in decent, small sites that accept tents.

We'd like people to know that the site has been taken over and is under new ownership from 2010. We are in the process of a full overhaul that includes the public house, caravan and camping site as well as the toilet and shower block. We aim to add letting rooms in the pub, which will also do food. We will also be adding a beer garden with children's play area to the site. We are installing a dish washing area for the campers and in the future adding laundry room but all this takes time. From the comments that we have had so far they are all good compared to last season

Found this site quite by accident just before dusk I had been on a motorcycle all day from Inverness.
I thought the place was closed as the pub is being renovated. Just as I was about to carry on the owner appeared an said I'd be ok for the night, he and his wife were really friendly and let me put my tent up under the shelter of the trees near to the caravans,as a storm was brewing and soon as I got set up the heavens opened up. I found the owners to be exceptionally helpful and friendly to me.
Got talking to the owners who have only just taken over the place and are in the process of renovating the pub and improving the site facilities. I think the other comments about this site were made about previous owners who'd let it go a bit.
I found the toilets were spotless, plenty of hot water, with good showers and if it wasn't raining all night [as it was for me] you'd get some nice views. Handy for the Northumberland coast, Holy island etc.
When this site and pub have been completed it'd should be a great place to stay, having a pub on site is a bonus

Note site is now under new ownership from 2010
Went to 'campsite' as we didn't book anywhere and couldn't get anywhere else. First time camping for me in a long time
Lady in charge was cheery and helpful enough, but the pub is in the hands of administrators, so no work is done to the 'site' - I keep saying this as it was basically a field at the back of the pub, uneven and empty. The toilets didn't look like they had been cleaned in months, and it wasn't a nice place to visit.
Only stopped one night, pub was open but no food and only us there and as soon as we left pub closed.
