Following feedback received during previous seasons, we have worked hard to upgrade the site for 2012, and are pleased to outline some of the improvements as follows:
The toilet block was revamped completely - there were new showers put in and the shower area was tiled and the whole place was painted.
There is a new log cabin reception area now instead of the caravan that was there.
The pot washing area has been improved.
The children's play area (slides, climbing frame) have been painted and swings have been installed.
Picnic tables have been repaired and painted (concrete block bases with wooden tops).
The whole place is better maintained and we've had the guys out cutting and strimming grass so it just looks nicer and if the sun keeps shining it looks even better!

Thanks for a lovely stay. Nice clean loos. Safe for the children. Plenty to do, we played crazy golf and tried the driving range;what fun. There are lots of walks around the site and the children were wowed by the fact that they saw their 1st clutch of gooslings on the lake that is 5mins from the site. Plenty of bird life as well. Will definitely go again, the children want to see the geese grow. The food at the local pub was ok usual pubgrub. It was nice to have the choice of waitrose or morrisions to shop. Being able to buy sweets at a shop on site would have been good. Perhaps next time?

Just got back from a weekend here, I was quite worried about going due to some reviews regarding the toilet block but I have to say they were ok, freshly painted and cleaned regularly, the only issue I had was there was no soap to wash your hands after using them but on a whole was ok. They charge £1 for the use of the showers and you get 10 minutes which I think is outrageous as we paid £23 a night and thought that this would be included in the price. The site itself is very nice were the tourers go in a wall section with a play area in the middle so no matter where you pitch you can see the little ones playing.
I would return to the site but it would only be a second choice not my 1st

Having read the previous reviews I cannot believe they are talking about the same campsite. One previous reviewer said nothing to do even though it has its own golf course, driving range, crazy golf, children's playground, children's playroom with pool table and fishing lake and is centrally located for all the local amenities. The toilet block previously criticized has been completely refurbished and cannot now be faulted.
The site itself is very quiet ideal for young children and tidy and well maintained. There is a lovely pub the Antelope and a fabulous garden centre both within 500 yards. Bangor is within 2 miles and Caernarfon with its beautiful Castle only 7 miles away with both the Snowdonia mountains and Anglesey a short drive. The site warden was easy to approach and as friendly as they come.I would recommend this site to anyone particularly if they want a quiet break with no noisy clubhouse.

There was no warden when we arrived and the pitch we had been told to use still held the caravan of a season pitch holder.
The toilets were in a very poor state and not clean and if I had paid a pound for a shower, I think I would have come out feeling dirtier than when I went in.
There were individual taps for each unit, which was good. But I think if they didn't want to cut the grass, they should of at least let the sheep in to do the job.
Each pitch had a rubbish bin, but we didn't know if we were supposed to empty it and is so where, or whether it would be collected.
The owner did come round on our last day and said they would be updating the toilet block. We thought the nightly charge, out of season was expensive for the facilities provided
The site was easy to find and was handy for what we needed in the area. The garden centre opposite was very good as was their food and the prices were reasonable. You were a bit isolated if you just fancied a lazy night from cooking and wanted fish and chips. There may have been a good chip shop closer than Bangor, but there was nobody around on the site to ask this sort of question.
The site could have been a lot nicer, with just a little thought. We were in a walled garden, but the pitch numbers had just be daubed on the wall with white paint. There was a children's play area in the centre and had we had children, this would have been idea, because you could easily keep an eye on them.

Management response: Thank you for your comments - I am sorry you were unhappy with our site and felt it was not up to scratch but since your visit we have refurbished the toilet block and play ground area and renewed the site office. We are continuing to try and improve all the time and I hope you give us another chance to see how much we have done. |

Just been here for a couple of days, glad it was only a couple of days. The caravan area is well sheltered within a walled compound each pitch has hookup & own water supply, all caravans are around the edge with the playground in middle, good for keeping eye on kids.
There is also area for tents some with hookup, there toilet & shower facilities were in a porta cabin & leave a lot to be desired, I think it was 50p for a shower.
There were two showers which cost a £1 for 10 mins cant say what the water was like as didn't dare use them, a dirty mop & water was provided for disinfecting after use, there were also two toilets which you had to roll your trousers up to use as there was more water on the floor in them than in the showers. They need a very good clean, it looked as though they hadn't had one in months!
The young warden was friendly enough but seemed to spend more time sorting out the golf range than anything else.

Just visited this camp site over the bank holiday. We had no problems booking on wardens really nice. Surroundings were clean and park for kids was ok.
The location was really tranquil and peaceful. Toilets were ok only down fall was no electric points for people in tents like ourselves. £1.00 for 10 min in a shower but they were warm. Only thing is the drainage was not the best for the showers overspilled a bit.
We would definitely go back as you are in reach in the car to Wales other towns and Anglesey. Did not experience the local pub as chilled out around the tent. Overall would recommend this site as clean and surroundings lovely.

The site look lovely, obviously not overcrowded due to the time of year probably would be in peak season. Very handy for Bangor and a trip to Anglessey but there the good bit ends.
The toilet/shower block probably one of the worst I have seen with the ladies showers costing £1 which is expensive considering the site fees themselves aren't cheap. Took to having a shower in the caravan as didn't fancy the shower facilities at all.
We took a porch awning into which a rat made its way overnight and chewed through one of the plastic baskets I had in there! and left rat droppings over the ground sheet and in the bottom of the basket.
Shame the facilities aren't up to much as would have used the site regularly as my daughter has just started at Bangor University but sorry don't think I could even for just a few nights.

The site was clean and tidy with a decent number of leaflets about the local area available in the shop. It is nicely located close to the bridges over the Menai Strait. Even on foot its easy to reach Bangor, Beaumaris, Caernarvon and Llanfair.
There is a pub about 10 minutes walk away. The staff were helpful even though I had forgotten the booking form they had sent me in the post! Overall a recommended site and nicely priced at £10 per night for a 2-berth tent.

Visited this site and found that it is exactly as advertised. Have read earlier comments and some are exaggerated. The showers have been painted and look and feel much cleaner than some mention. I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a peaceful holiday in a natural location.
