Brilliant, warm welcome. Helpful & friendly staff. Min 2 night stay, which we did only want to stay for 1, but had to stay for 2, as we'd paid, which was good really / in the end.
Ideal campsite for us 2 as there is nice home cooked food in the pub opposite & a lovely walk into York along the waterside - something like 5 miles I seem to remember someone telling me. We then walked, shopped, etc, , a little in York itself. Caught the riverbus back which drops you of outside the campsite. Toilets & showers clean & warm. Couldn't ask for any more. Can't wait to go back

A lovely site with easy access into York City centre. The bus stop is just outside the campsite entrance.
We had a lovely pitch on the riverbank, which was a real bonus. We would certainly request this pitch again as it was so relaxing watching the boats pass by. A few little ducklings also kept us company.
The toilet block might be a little dated but its very clean and the showers are nice and warm. This makes all the difference when your camping.
The Ship Inn is literally across the road and serves excellent food.
Overall a good campsite with everything to offer.
We'll be returning later on this summer.

We were recommended this site by the Caravan Club site nearby (this being full). We were not disappointed. We were offered a pitch right by the river ( 20 feet away). Lovely views, especially in the early morning sunrise. Plenty of hungry ducks to keep the children amused.
Toilet block very clean but rather dated ( barn door style showers cubicles, 5 male and 5 female) but plenty of scorching hot water and pleased to say not the button type of operation.
Water points right next to caravan although disposal points are across the road in the main site but this is only a 100yds away. Chemical disposal is a normal toilet within it's own cubicle.
Bus stop right outside main entrance. York is only 3 miles away by car. There is a boat service to York just around the corner but we couldn't find where this operated from. We suspect it is closed for the winter.
There is a pub within 100yds of the main entrance which serves food in the evenings most days.
No play area on site and ball games are strictly forbidden.
When we were there it was very quiet and peaceful. We would certainly recommended this site.

Very crowded site, the owners site the caravans in very close proximity to each other, we struggled to park our car next to our van with enough room to open the car doors.
The shower and toilet facilities are very dated but are kept reasonably clean. One toilet block key per unit is a bit awkward, you have to shower at different times, or go with your wife and then take the key after she has unlocked the ladies block.
This site is very expensive for what is on offer, there are many other sites around York with better facilities that are not as expensive as this. Will not be visiting again.

Being non car campers it was frustrating to be hemmed in by cars both sides at one point (are there any sites that keep us cyclists and walkers away from the cars?) but it is a pleasant site and we had a nice few days.
To be honest saying that some of the site is by the river is a bit misleading - there is also a significant part of the site by a very murky stream that you would not want to fall in. The ducks are extremely tame and I am sure very tasty.
Close enough to York for easy cycling and though it is on a road (and bisected by a road) it is a very quiet road. Owners very helpful and obviously work extremely hard.
Yes toilet block is 'old fashioned' but well maintained and spotless. Bit of a walk in the morning and needing the key every time was a bit of a bind (one key given for the entire family).

This is a fab site, really enjoyed our stay right by the waters edge, waving to the pleasure boats as they sailed up the river Ouse. There was a pub behind us and our family was able to camp nearby - perfect.
The owners are very hard working and the site is very well organised. There is a regular bus and waterbus directly into York (about 3 miles) and lots of riverside/country walks nearby.

After researching the whereabouts and reading the reviews we weren't disappointed with the site. Our tent pitch was facing the River Ouse where we could watch river boats go sailing by, people fishing and loads of ducks just waddling by. The warden was very helpful upon arrival and told us where everything was and answered our questions regarding public transport.
The facilities were a bit dated but kept very clean and served their purpose.
There is a pub called The Ship just before the entrance which was very nice for a couple of drinks before tea, we never tried the food so can't comment. We drove into the neighbouring village of Bishopthorpe which was very nice with a number of pubs all serving food and obviously catered for families with young children. We also walked into York via the Yorvik trail along the river which took us to Bishopthorpe and ended at Bishopthorpe Palace where the Archbishop of York lives then we just walked towards the A64 and over the racecourse following a cycle track. It was about 4 miles but the sun was shining so made it worth the effort! A taxi back to the campsite from the Punchbowl pub on Micklegate cost £8.50, well worth it!
All in all the weekend was great and we would certainly use the campsite again, it was a relaxing base.

Expensive for what they offer!
One person with tent 10,- pound/night. Toilets on other side of busy road about 600 Feet walk. No street lights. Showers and toilets are good. You get one key to enter the toilets and showers. Washing clothes and dishes in one room with only one separated hot tap with slow streaming hot water. No dryer or washing machines for clothes. Location to put up your tent is appointed, no free choice. Pub, Ship inn, is within 250 feet from toilet block. York town centre about 3,5 miles. Bicycle route is nearby york-Naburn over old railway track.

What a lovely camp site. Very well kept and owners extremely helpful. We stayed next to the stream and had lots of room for our 4 pitches (group of 8). The toilets are fine and kept clean and are not too far away at all.
York is only a short car journey away and the owners booked our taxi for us. There is also a boat going into York in the morning and returns early evening.
The ducks were really cute an very tame.
We will definitely be booking this site next year - can't wait in fact, had a brilliant weekend.

We liked this campsite but it was very expensive especially as we had to walk over the road to the toilet block.
The small field where we pitched our tent was ideal, close to a stream and the river.
The showers were clean and always had hot water but just too far away to keep going backwards and forwards for the toilet or even just to wash up.
Would go back but would try somewhere cheaper first.
