The campsite now has new toilet/shower facilities - quite an improvement on the old 1970s block! However as with most new things there are teething problems and we found the floors were sometimes very wet because the toilets and showers are in very close proximity and they haven't done a good job of draining away water.

Apart from that we had a lovely time and the gardens and activities for kids are great - park, train, bouncy castle, cafe on site, tourist shop for toys and gifts.

The site is on the coast only 5 mins drive from Larne town centre and full of lovely walks.

What a site!! Stacks to do for our kids (4, 2 & 1) - maze, outdoor play area, walks, a maze, miniature railway, crazy golf (all of which are either free or dirt cheap) and through the peak season there's something on every weekend (this weekend was a falconry display).

The site itself was great - small and cosy with tiered pitches made up of a series of flat areas sculpted into the side of a hill.

The amenities were cleaned morning and night - this year the park is closing early (mid-Sept) for a new amenities block (as there are currently only 2 showers) and I saw the plans - absolutely superb - 4 showers for men and 4 for women, a "family suite" (with bath, toilet and sink), laundry room, baby changing, etc.

There are breathtaking views of the coast and cracking walks through the woods if this is your thing. On arrival you pay a refundable £16 deposit for a car pass and keys to the campsite - there's a locked vehicle gate and the amenities block is also locked. All of this for only £11.50 a night - highly recommended - clean, well run with friendly staff. We'll definitely be return visitors although I heard if you're in a caravan you need to book up several weeks in advance as they're full most weekends.

We found this site extremly easily and it is handily placed for the ferries. We booked by email earlier and an extremely helpful lady called me to check the booking and then sent details by post. There is plenty to do on the site and the sea is very near.
The ammenities block although small is kept clean and mopped late in the evening too.
Generally a very good site that is good for facilities and value for money. £13 including hook up, water and tv when we stayed.
We will definitely use it again.

Carnfunnock Country Park is situated on the famous Antrim Coast Road (A2), 3.5 miles north of Larne and just over 20 miles from Belfast.

The Park is packed full of exciting and unusual attractions to see and do, with over 473 acres of mixed woodland, colourful gardens, ponds, walking trails, beaches and coastline, along with a visitor centre, activity centre, golf, putting green, children's playground, crazy golf, giant chess set, table tennis and light refreshments cafe. The Park has a Maze; it is a unique hornbeam Maze sculpted in the shape of Northern Ireland!

The Caravan Park has 28 super pitches and room for 10 tents. The area is exceptionally well cared for, grass is neat, and the bathrooms & showers immaculate. A new shower & toilet block is being built later this year. There is a very friendly atmosphere with many caravanners regular visitors to this great site. There is always something to do for the whole family. A quiet well run and popular site. Booking ABSOLUTELY neccessary!

The Park was originally part of the estate of Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon and reverted to Larne Borough Council in 1957. Many of the original features remain including the Walled Garden the Icehouse and the Lime Kilns. Carnfunnock has combined man-made attractions and entertainment with the splendour of natural. There is a maze, time garden, dipping ponds, miniature railway and much much more. There are a variety of signposted walks, however we prefer to explore the woods with their well trodden paths. There is an activity centre with golf, putting, ground drafts, table tennis and a brilliant and very safe play area themed on pirate ships!

There is a visitor centre with toilets, cafe and shop, the shop has very reasonably priced souveners and kids toys. During the season there are additional activities running every weekend and Bank holiday.

This is a very tidy, compact site, all vans are on fully serviced hard pitches. Each with their own water supply and 26amps electricity. Toilets and showers are spotless, but only two showers, however a new shower and toilet block is to be built later this year. The staff are very friendly. We will be back time and time again!!
