We arrived on the campsite 27th May for 3 nights, only a couple of other tents were pitched. We were shown to our area, which was top left of the field, which in our opinion was the best spot. It was flatter ground and when the site got busier (Cartmel Races) we were tucked away from everyone else.

The toilet & shower facilities were good, always plenty of loo roll and paper towels. Although only one shower in each (male & female). We showered late at night, as when the site was busy queues were likely.

Only a 10 minute walk to Grange-Over-Sands village, with a few bars/pubs, restaurants and shops. Also a nice walk along the front, which had a few play area's for children, also a tennis court.

We went with 4 other couples, we had BBQ's and camp fires (we took a fire pit). There were mostly groups of people, either couples or families with children, it was a nice atmosphere, not too loud either.

We ventured to Ambleside (40mins in car) and Windermere (30 mins).

We would come back for sure :)

Despite plenty of details printed from the internet as to the location I still managed to miss the turning because I was distracted by a big pink house on the hill! We eventually got through the gate though and pitched mid-evening. The owners were fine about late arrivals (we checked beforehand so they were expecting us though).

We pitched in a little green enclave overlooking the sea, as the main field had a bit of a slope. Excellent views of the Morecambe coastline.

The toilet block wasn't huge but was clean, heated, had automatic lighting and provided local information. Probably there ought to be a sign reminding people to keep the doors closed to keep the heat in, as I noticed that other users were leaving the door open. Hot tap was warm rather than piping but comfortable temperature. We didn't use the showers.

The site was relatively empty and mainly populated with only a few caravans and motorhomes so we almost had the toilet block to ourselves. There were several recycling bins for bottles, cardboard etc and plenty of room in the skips for the rest of the waste.

Might not be the most fantastic site for kids (no obvious areas for play, thought the sloping field is quite large) but since we are childless and prefer mainly adult sites this was fine by us! A great base for exploring the southern lakes. The town has a well-kept feel to it and apparently they have a regular art fair on some Sunday afternoons. There are a couple of late(ish)-night supermarkets in Grange and fish and chips (not cheap but welcome if you don't want to cook).

Most gas refills available from the site reception (again not cheap, but available if required). There is, I think at least one camping supplies shop also but we didn't have time to stop and look around them.

At £12.50 basic rate (no hook-up) this site offered reasonably good value. Would come back again.

The weather forecast meant that we anticipated strong winds during our stay, there were, but only lower down in the bay. Our field was wonderfully sheltered and warm, with a gorgeous view right across the sands.

The site was clean, well stocked with decent loo roll and a mini tourist info centre in the loo as well!

The best kept secret was the beautiful bluebell wood just to the side of the field. A really nice surprise when you go foraging for firewood.

It is also accompanied by wild garlic, which you can smell as you venture through.

The opportunity to build a fire (we took a fire pit) with free firewood feels like you are being treated well and not taken advantage of.

I would not necessarily recommend for smaller children but it suited our needs perfectly and I look forward to a return trip.

Just returned from this site and it seems changes have taken place in recent times.

The touring pitch area consists of a small hardstanding - maybe 6 or 7 pitch's with EHU + each has its own water supply pipe. Though, its only yards from the basic but functional toilet block - which hasn't changed from earlier reviews.

The hardstanding in most places requires levelling blocks for units on most pitches. The grassed area is a fair old slope - which we actual opted for as it afforded the aforementioned views, but we struggled to get really level. Large tents, as has been stated earlier, would struggle here. But, there is now electric all up one side of this field (16 amps), but its a toil for extra water down to the block. The choice is yours!

Again, the place is well situated for walks into Grange or Cartmel, Grange - which in my opinion can boast the best butchers shop in the uk!

Rules - if there are any, are very laid back - so patrons are very much relied on to 'police' themselves.

We paid £15 a night for the unit + 2 adults + leccy - which I don't feel is too steep nowadays, given the views and location generally.

There's little for kids to do here apart from ball games etc - space permitting.

Was great! Beautiful views of sea, quiet, very friendly other campers, on a bit of a slope but not a problem. Would definitely go back again.
Toilet block clean and never had to wait to use the showers. Regular drive bys by a variety of tractors which my son thought were for him personally!
Lovely little dog on site - very friendly and kids loved her. Grange is a lovely village and good access from here to south lake district. Lots to see and do!

We booked the night before for a bank holiday weekend and for most of the Friday we were the only ones there (us and the other family we went with) which was actually quite nice. It was a little unclear at first where to go and I had to ring the owner to ask where she wanted us to pitch. There was a 'building site' just a stones throw from the toilet block which had heavy machinery parked up which wasn't ideal with nosey young ones - had to stop them from 'exploring' that part so it was hard to relax. There was a homemade rope swing which did provide some entertainment for the kids but only the older ones (no playareas unless you count the building site! Yikes).
The toilets were dark and there was only one shower which was also dark and the building almost had a cowshed feel to it but it was functional. There was one washing up sink located in the toilet block. There was a big metal rubbish container located right next to the hook-ups which wasn't particularly pleasant and attracted a lot of wasps. It was a touch pricey for what there was and there is better on offer for less money elsewhere so I wouldn't go again. On a positive note it was nice going somewhere where you could light an actual camp fire!

Just returned from the bank holiday weekend. I organised a group booking for 17 units comprising of tents and tourers. The owner Carol is very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for her.
Despite a terrible wet summer the field is well drained and the owner did offer to tow anyone up the field with her 4x4 if they got stuck! We had an allocation of the field with views that are stunning over the estuary, we were also blessed with excellent weather, the sun shone everyday. I organised this trip for the races at Cartmel which are held twice a year for families.
The site facilities are basic, but to be honest the location of the site is excellent and the views make up for it. The toilet block has one shower in each and plenty of toilets, a sink for washing up, take your own loo roll as it does run out quickly when the site is busy!
The field does slope down but there are plenty of flat pitches. Grange over sands is within walking distance, the walk along the prom brings you out near the site at the Balamory building on the hill!
We all had a brilliant time and we will be returning again next year at the same time. This site is excellent for the Lakes and not over priced like some of them. Cartmel is 2 miles if you turn out of the site turn right and follow the road it takes you into Cartmel village where there is a Spar and you can buy the famous sticky toffee pudding & pubs which serve food. Grange has lots of nice eating places and shops, the ducks gave our children lots of smiles when we fed them and the play area on the promenade is nice for the children.
All I can say is lets hope Carol continues with the touring side of things and we don't lose this little gem of a site??

Rang up to book two weeks before and they advised electric hook up was no problem, had to send cheque for full amount approx £17 a night. Which was no issue.

Arrived and despite previous reviews on here, there was no gentle slope and anyone with a decent size tent is going to struggle to find a flat pitch. Furthermore electric is only at the bottom on the field and this area is hard standing. The only place suitable for electric is next to a massive waste container or directly under a tree! We ended up pitching our 10 man tent half way up the field on a slope and borrow a double cable to run it down to the hook up.

This said though its an excellent location and shower block has a few toilets and one shower which was fine.

We stayed Weds to Sun and only saw the owners on Sat night,Ive been to lots of other site and you normally get to meet the owners and they check how you doing.

Would we return? No but it has a lovely view, its great for motorhomes, caravans and smaller tents.

Arrived at camp site on Bank Holiday Friday. Though the site was getting busy and many families were arriving the owner 'Carol' took the time to take us up to the field and show us around advising us where was best to pitch.

Having spoken to Carol she informed us that they have recently taken ownership of the site and will be investing in new facilities, utilities and amenities over the next 12 months. This can only improve what is a very good site already.

On the site it was mainly family's and couples and the general atmosphere was very pleasant with children running happily around the site playing with friends they made in an instant.

The views over the bay are fantastic and well worth the visit itself. The site slopes slightly but not enough to cause you to roll out of your tent

Shower/toilet block was no more basic than any other site we have visited and it remained clean throughout the weekend with constant supply of hot water and toilet paper. There is only one shower in each block but the queue for each was never more than two deep at any time.

Cartmel village is just over the hill and it take approx 30mins to walk there (steep hills either side with no paths, you will need a torch in the evening). Well worth the visit especially when the Cartmel races are on.

Grange over Sands is a 15-20mins walk along the bay with a great promenade to walk along what ever the weather. Last Sunday in every month they hold craft fairs

Great Sandwich shop in Grange called 'Bailey's' at the top of the high street. They will make what ever sandwiches you want which is great for fussy kids! Owner is a real character and can do impressions of any TV star - The kids will love her Bart Simpson!

Great site, Great venue for young and old.

We had a lovely holiday camping at low fell, the owners work very hard keeping the site up to scratch and do so. We where very close to cartmel and grange over sands. Both lovely places to visit, a word to the wise, the best sandwich shop in grange is baileys on the main street, lovely food and pleasant staff who can give lots of information around the area as well as serving wonderful food both for children and adults, not to be missed.
We also found the pubs in cartmel to be friendly and accommodating. A wonderful visit we will be back.
