Spent two relaxing nights here with spectacular views over the bay. Sloping site, but able to find a comfortable spot. Clean toilet and shower block. Albeit only one shower which seems to be used by some of the static owners on the site. Only ten pounds a night which was collected by site owners in the evening. Twenty minute walk to town centre which has two convenience stores and a very good butchers. Only two pubs but Cartmel is only a few miles down the road and a good number to pick from there. Booking is not needed. The static owners are very nice to chat to and even helped me out when I'd left cool box plugged in in the car and flattened my battery. Was advised that the site has recently changed owners who are running a horse rehabilitation center over the road and will be arranging mains services to the site. I will be returning later this year for some more relaxation.

A very pleasant, neat and clean site, just 200 metres from the village centre. We stayed only two nights, but will certainly return. The owners take great pride in ensuring that everything is in order. I believe the previous comments from other reviewers about bad attitudes to be unfounded. There were plenty of (well-behaved) children on the site enjoying themselves and there was no sign of anyone telling them to be quiet. Two fields for campers, with (mainly) very level pitches. Toilet, shower and dish-washing facilities were limited, but all well-maintained, clean and tidy. The camp site sign is very small, and has a gated entrance marked "Private" so ensure that you get good directions. Cartmel is quaint, but deceiving. Four pubs, two nice cafes an Indian restaurant and two grocery stores all in easy walking distance plus "L'Enclume" - a Michelin-starred, very chic restaurant if you want to splash out in grand style. For us mere mortals: The The "Kings Head" serves good food and beers and has a welcoming atmosphere. It's best to book a table. The "Royal Oak" was another matter. Sticky - and I mean dirty sticky - tables, expensive drinks and no atmosphere. We are going to try the "Pig & Whistle" next time as the menu looks interesting. There's also an amazing gift & toy shop.

Due to the exceptional weather over the weekend of 15th - 16th July we decided to head of for one nights camping. Managed to book into the lovely Low Fell Gate Farm. Got a nice pitch and kids were straight off playing. After a BBQ and a well earned couple of beers, we set off on the two minute walk into Cartmel. Lovely pubs and chilled atmosphere. Once back on site relaxed once again in the peaceful surroundings. Not much noise prior to the dawn chorus kicking in! The shower block was clean and albeit there are only two male showers, it was still satisfactory. Definately a site we will re-visit for a longer stay.

19-6-2004 Delightfully quaint park with some extremely old static caravans on site. Further up the park is a field for tourers and tents, the field is gently sloping and for the most spectacular views over Morecambe Bay I recommend that you pitch at the top. Toilet block with one shower in each and socket for hairdryer in the ladies, shaver point in mens. water stand pipes and dustbins also. Residents an absolute joy to talk to and Grange over Sands is only 5mins walk away.
