Having just returned from this site and never having been there before I can happily say - what a treasure! On arrival at the very modern amenities / reception block we paid our £12 per night plus a tenner for a swipe card which gets you into all the other facilities (toilets, showers, dish-washing room, etc.) and trundled down the long, narrow sight to be told pitch anywhere you like on the left hand side (caravans on hard standing to the right). Imagine how chuffed I was when I realised that the tent pitches all border the river that flows into Lough Neagh - just a brief hop across the fence and you have immediate access to a lovely new tarmac path which is wide enough for both river walks and bikes. The site itself is lovely and picturesque with the staff both friendly and helpful. A short walk from the site and you're at the Marina and the entrance to Lough Neagh with a cafe and launch sites for boats. Walk the other way for about 5 minutes and you're at a fantastic kiddies play park with 2 areas for older and younger kids, and the Antrim Forum - an indoor Leisure Complex with swimming pool and other stuff (although we didn't check it out). You're also only a 5 minute drive from the nearby Tesco and Antrim town itself so good facilities within very close proximity and yet you still feel like you're miles from anywhere whilst on-site - perfect! The only thing that marred our stay was the tent next to us with 2 girls staying in it who thought it would be good fun to party all night (until 8am) and then sleep all the next day and as the site polices itself after 10pm, there was no-one to report them to. After I did report them the following morning the wardens were quick to act and apologised - they spoke with the girls and their family who were staying in a nearby caravan and threatened them both off the site if they didn't wind their necks in - this had the desired effect and a quiet night was had by all the following night. Even this wasn't enough to put us off the place and we all really enjoyed our stay. They had just built a new TV room and games room with a pool table and vending machine accessed with your swipe card. In the TV room there was also a well-stocked bookshelf with both books and magazines - something for everyone. The showers were free and were clean enough (although not spotless) and the site itself was clean and well kept. In conclusion, a lovely small site with great river walks, very close to Antrim Castle and its gardens (within walking distance) - plenty to do if the weather turns bad or if your kids are demanding (such as the Antrim Forum close by) and reasonably priced. We'll be back!
