We had a lovely time at Cloud Farm. We stayed for 3 nights and found the site to be clean and well equipped. The only thing that did take the edge of things was the shop. I thought it was very overpriced but I guess it's our own fault for not remembering the red wine! If I could make one suggestion to the owners, it would be to consider putting in some recycling bins.

Were attracted to Cloud Farm because of its location and because it allows campfires – I couldn’t think of a better way to spend Friday and Saturday night than sitting by a lovely warm fire! On first arrival, it looked quite full already but we were relieved to be told on checking in that there are 5 fields on which to pitch. 2 nights for 2 adults cost £28.00. We were lucky to get an excellent spot beside the river and a campfire. We pitched our tent and then made our way to check out the facilities. The campsite has a well stocked shop, selling everything from washing up liquid to strawberries and cream to cream teas. Logs and kindling are also for sale at £4.99 a bag for logs and £2.99 for kindling. Outside the shop, they have picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the scenery and tea and cakes. Other than the logs and kindling, we only bought a can of pop which at £0.80p, I felt was quite expensive. Incidentally, strawberries and cream was £2.99. The toilet block and showers looked very clean – 2 toilets, 2 sinks and 2 showers in the ladies and 1 toilet, 2 urinals, 2 showers and 1 sink in the men’s. £0.50p coins are required to operate the shower, which lasts for around 6 minutes. This was surprising as we had assumed showers would be included in the cost to pitch. When it came to use the showers the following morning, they were not as clean as they were when we first arrived, sand and gravel from the outside had been dragged in, combining with the wet floor to make it quite muddy. The shower itself was hot, but the water didn’t drain away well and there was hair stuck in the plug hole. 2 showers isn’t really enough for the number of people camping - the 5 fields soon filled up. There is also a utility room which has a couple of freezers, 2 washing machines (no soap required but £4.00 to use) and 2 tumble dryers but it only has one sink for washing up so expect to queue. Horse riding is also available on site. Nearby villages include Porlock and Lynton and Lynmouth, all worth a visit – very picturesque and you can travel on the cliff railway between Lynton and Lynemouth –lovely views from the top.In summary, a great location for camping and great campfires but the site is spoilt by inflated prices, a lack of facilities and cleanliness.

A really wonderful campsite, in an excellent location for walks and wildlife. It was delightful to listen to the river in the evenings, have a huge and delicious Devonshire cream tea from tearoom, and to just unwind in such a picturesque and relaxing atmosphere. We would have liked to have spend longer at Cloud Farm and would definitely recommend it to anyone. This is one of the best campsites we have been to.

Only our 2nd time camping as a family, so I thought the driving drizzle would put every one off! We had the most amazing time at Cloud Farm. Our field was perfect with a fence separating the river from our youngest child. We could pick our own pitch, cook over a REAL campfire, eat great food from the tea room (Huge scones), and buy any thing that we needed from the great shop.
You can go horse riding, or even hire a pony and hard hat for 1/2 hr (£10) and lead your small children around! The walks in that area are fabulous fabulous. The scenery is breath taking. The sounds of nature lulled us to sleep and I must say that the other campers were very considerate and quiet after 10 pm.
The loos were fine with more available in the farm yard. The wash up facilities were fine. You had a room with plenty of work tops. we tended to fill up with hot water from the ladies tap and use a bowl on the work tops. This is camping, right? The showers were piping hot (50p 6 mins.) Perfectly adequate.
Personally we absolutely loved it here and will be back for longer. Can't wait to swim in the deep pools of the river, with the otters? some times I think that people expect hotel standards. Then go to a hotel!

This is a lovely site with a choice of flat fields beside a small river. It is miles from any main road and up a long potholed track.
I was the only person camping mid-week so the facilities coped, but I would not want to have to queue for toilets and showers when it is busy. Other reviews say they only have one toilet for each sex, but there are others in the farmyard. There is a laundry, but no real washing up provision. They dont have electric hook ups so I guess its mostly for us tenters.
The sun goes down behind the hill across the river but the field furthest downstream (and the farmhouse) were in the sun for about an hour longer than the other fields.
They have an amazingly good shop and cafe catering for campers and pony trekkers. It sells real food, not just pot noodles, and proper espresso coffee.
Since I was on my own the owners' lurchers and moggy made sure I wasnt lonely and had eaten all my breakfast

This is a little Haven! well it was when we went in March although very cold, the only advantage to this is the fact that we were the only ones there. The fact that you can have a camp fire was also an advantage. the toilets were clean and the showers, if not a little hefty on the pennies. The little shop is extremely well stocked and not that overpriced,(alot cheaper than driving to the nearest shop for provisions) good base for exploring North Devon we will be back! Ooh and they have a supply of gas bottles for sale.

We tried out this camp site in February in a fit of madness.
On the plus side it is situated in a beautiful Exmoor valley by the side of a stream, from which it is possible to do some lovely walks. The ability to light your own fire (very large bag of wood provided for about £5) if you want to fulfil your fantasy of sitting around your own camp fire roasting marshmallows on sticks is also nice. It is very much off the beaten track, with no mobile phone reception, and I would definitely come here if I owed a large unpleasant person lots of money. There is a small, reasonably well stocked shop, plus the possibility of pony trekking from the Cloud farm stables, and lovely teas are served in the warmer months.
On the minus side the facilities are pretty basic. As far as I could see there was one large washing up sink with cold running water, which in peak season would have to service three fields of campers. There were two showers for the blokes and two for the ladies, which needed feeding with fifty pence pieces. And the long private drive to the site was very potholed. Parking is on the field with your tent, and after a heavy rain shower the grass is like teflon and our vehicle got well and truly stuck. To be fair, it was February, but rain is not confined to the winter months.
So, in summary, lovely location, but could do with a little more capital investment in facilities.

This Campsite is in an excellent location. The option to build your own campfires is really good fun. Even though it was high season and the campsite was busy it was quiet and relativley peaceful. The campsite is near many attractions and the local towns of Porlock and Lynton have some nice places to eat and shop. The downside is the facilities are inadequate and unclean. It is a shame, if they spent a little more money on the toilet and shower block (maybe from the profits from the rather pricy kindling) this would be an excellent site. May visit again but only for a weekend! Us ladies need to feel clean.

We arrived at Cloud Farm with the intention of spending the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Unfortunately a hold-up on the motorway meant it was getting dark when we arrived, however we did our best to find a decent pitch. The fact that it was almost dark however, meant that we could not gauge how busy the park was, and it quickly became apparent that the site was very busy. In fact if anything it was a little over full. But still people were being booked in.
The site is located right in the heart of the Doone Valley, and is a very beautiful setting. There is a rather long and bumpy lane that has to negotiated to reach the site, and passing other vehicles can be difficult.
The only space we could find was on a slope. The grass was far from an ideal length, and was very rutted. My wife twisted her ankle badly when we tried to walk to the toilet block; such was the condition of the field.
The facilities were, at best, fairly basic. Showers were coin operated. The refitted toilet and shower block was woefully inadequate considering the number of people in the park, and long ques developed at busy times. The concerns over the facilities were, however, probably exasperated because of the number of people in the park at the time.
The reason behind our subsequent decision to leave the site, however, was a trend that is becoming all too familiar these days on popular campsites; and is that of “mob-handed” camping. At Cloud Farm we were unlucky to be sited next to a party of about 16, with no less than four large tents and a giant gazebo. The noise from the 10 or so children and dogs was far in excess of what could be called normal, and coupled with the music playing until 11:30pm was more than we were prepared to tolerate. However our decision to leave was further justified at 8am the next morning when this “party” decided to fire up a petrol generator that they had sited, via extension leads, some 20 metres from their own pitches; but adjacent to ours…!
At a quieter time I have no doubts that this would be a very nice park. The owners, however, are very friendly; and had no hesitation in refunding our fees when we decided to move after only one night.

May 2005 This site has beautiful surroundings but loses the sun early evening due to the hills either side of you (common for this area of the country). Very relaxed atmosphere and during our stay very peaceful even though the site was full.
The main drawbacks were that there was only one lavatory for the men and two showers which was not adequate enough during our stay and resulted in queues most times. I also found the shop and food on sale quite pricey (although very well stocked). The only water tap was also positioned by the toilet which was a long walk if you were pitched on the outskirts of the site.
However the ability to have a fire by the tent was wonderful and we all had a great time. Only was a nuisance with trekking children to the only toilet.
