Having been to this site many times I would recommend it to anyone. Having read other reviews about the site I disagree with a lot of comments:- the showers have all been warm and kept clean, the sinks always have hot water though you need to give it time to come from the hot water tank. The road, yes it has speed ramps and pot holes but that makes it safer to walk along the lane as it stops the idiots driving flat out where ther ecould be young children. The pool is clean and well maintained the attendants always alert. The security, have, at times had a lot to put up with with unruly visitors and have done what is needed to bring people back in line. The shop is always well stocked, but could do with being open a bit longer. The arcade is just enough, not too commercialised. When the weather is good it knocks spots off going abroad!

I must disagree with some previous reviews that this site was disappointing and not kept clean. All facilites were well kept and attendants were often seen maintaining them. The childrens play area was a great hit with the kids and there were picnic tables within the area and still enough room for a kick about! The swimming pool was child friendly and was watched over by a lifeguard. The shop was well stocked and although over priced was still quite reasonable. The entertainment staff were great with the kids and they looked forward to each evening at the onsite bar. We had a fabulous time and plan to return soon. The facilities here are all you need for a camping holiday! The only thing I must say is the walk to the beautiful beaches nearby is not suitable for younger children but only a short drive away.

This was our first visit to this site.
It is satisfactory, we were going to camp, but it was actually cheaper to hire a static.
If cheesy cabaret is for you, then go here!
The caravan had holes in the floor, we had trouble with the cooker, when I asked for assistance, a surly reply came back telling me 'it's on the list'
The cafe was excellent, but expensive, shop good too.
Toilets/showers, often needed a good clean, and toilet paper often non existent.
Security over zealous.
I think that this park could do with a visit from the Hotel inspector! Mostly lack of staff training, I suspect I would be able to get a tent pitch here any time, but will be trying for something more peaceful, and nearer Widemouth in August.

We visited this site in August and were not impressed. During our second night we were flooded out by very heavy rain. The ground did not appear to drain very well. The children's playground had to be closed for about two days whilst the rain drained away.
The shower / toilet blocks needed a good clean. In one block, the only hairdryer was broken, two out of the four sink plugs were missing and never replaced, and the cold water taps did not provide enough water to wash your toothbrush!. Showers do not have any shelves to put your personal effects on. No shower screens were in each of the cubicles, therefore your clothes which were hanging on the back of the door got wet!
There was plenty of hot water in all the blocks and the washing-up areas. This was one of the few plus points about this site.
There were no plugs in the sinks in the washing up area. The washing machines in the laundry were filthy. There was wet soap powder on top of the machines throughout our stay. Not once were these cleaned.
The on-site cafe/takeaway was very clean and produced very good food. Also the on-site shop was well stocked. We found no fault with either of these.
The nightclub was always busy each night, but the evening entertainment was very mediocre. The urinals in the gents were leaking and did not appear to be mended during our two week stay. Night security staff were pleasant and dealt with any problems very quickly.
Some of the pitches are very small, compared to others, despite paying the same rates and advising of size of unit at time of booking.
Walks from the site into Bude (approx 1 mile away) over the clifftops were superb on a good day. Crocklets beach was very close by. Bude itself is a lovely little town, with plenty of shops and one or two pubs. Bude does not appear to have a railway station, although buses regularly pass through from other areas.
We do not intend to return to the site, although we will definitely be returning to Bude.

The swimming pool is good and clean, with an attentive lifeguard, the shop is good, and so is the restaurant, although the meals are not cheap. But the pitches are very close together, at least they are in the hook up area, and the toilet block serving that area is very basic. The showers use a bathroom style pull cord, and there is no temperature control, so my 10yr old found the showers too hot. The toilet block floor was often soaking and dirty, although the block got a regular clean. There is no warning of the speed bumps on the approach road, and they are large, and so are the pot holes. I did not use the club. Bude is a good place to visit, and the beaches are good, although you cannot surf at Northcott Mouth at high tide - because of the rocks.

The holiday park was very good with brilliant entertainment in the evening, but found the children got very bored as there wasn't much to doin the daytime. The play park was very dissapointing but the swimming pool was very good and clean. The beaches were close by and very popular and there are lots of shops in Bude to visit. Caravans are a bit old but clean. Road in and out had speed bumps approaching the park. overall we had a pleasant time.

I just want to say thanks to the owners of Bude Holiday camp letting my Explorer Scouts camp at the last minute and for letting us camp in the first over flow field before it was opened to the public. The site itself was well laid out, with plenty of bins and taps. My main worry was the toilet and shower block it could get a little dirty at times. An portable toilet bock was present on site but was locked. The children aged between 11 and 16 enjoyed the use of the swimming pool, arcade and games room and we the leaders found the bar okay, the one thing I would say is that a few more tables out side wouldn't go amiss for the summer evenings. It only took 15 minutes to walk into town by the road which as now been resurfaced and wasn't that busy. Bude itself was a nice place the beaches were patrolled by life guards, and a sea pool also with life guards prefect for those who don't like going in the sea. I would go back To Bude Holiday Camp but not in the school holidays as it was busy when we went in the last week of July and by Friday tea time both over flow camping fields were nearly full.

Our family of 6 has had quite a few happy holidays at Bude Holiday Park over the past few years in tents, caravans and their own static caravans. While the camping and touring facilities are not perfect, they are quite adecuate. Having visited the site at different times of the year BHP main problem is the sheer volume of people using the site at peak times. It is, at times, a victim of its own success.
Over the past three years improvements have been made to the camping field facilities every year and I would expect that they will have done more work again this year. The campsite is situated almost perfectly for a nice stroll (0.3m) to the nearby Northcott Mouth beach via the clifftop coast path or just carry on walking north or south for the excellent scenery and widlife. Lovely beaches in Bude, Crooklets (0.75m), and Summerleaze (1m). Summerleaze has a sea pool and is 2 minute walk from town centre.
Bude Holiday Park is a very friendly park with lots of caravanners / campers who go year on year. Sorry if this sounds like an advert but my family love the place. The road in is a pain because of the speed bumps, but you only have to navigate it with your van twice. The nightly entertainment is excellent, with kids club most days. I would say give it a go, especially if you can avoid the very peak times.

We have just got back from Bude Holiday Park, we were there for ten days. Apart from the bad weather, (which obviously had nothing to do with the park!)I have to say that this site was a bit disappointing. It's all a bit tatty, which is a shame as it is in a good position, right on the coast path with some interesting beaches & coastline nearby.
The shower facilities were in dire need of some proper cleaning, there was mould on the walls & ceilings in the cubicles. There is a small hook on the back of the door in the cubicle and no shelves, and the shower trough is not shielded from the rest of the (Very small) cubicle, so your clothes hanging on the back of the door get wet. The showers, although free, are cold unless you get in them before 7am, certainly in the female showers ( my wife told me this bit....just for clarity!)
The washing up facilities had no plugs in the sinks, and the water was cold every time we washed up, no matter what the time of day. The Laundrette was filthy, with caked on damp washing powder on the machine tops.. I have to say the toilets were pretty clean. Certainly the Gents ones anyway.
The "Security" guard that came out each evening didn't know how to talk to kids at all...He was bloody rude to be honest , and took great delight in shouting at the top of his voice. Don't get me wrong I'm quite a disciplinarian myself with my two, but you don't get the best from teenagers by barking commands at them ( In my opinion)
The shop was pretty good, and fairly reasonably priced. The staff were pretty friendly, but the bar was absolutely packed each night, and so smokey it made your eyes water.
The last reviewer was absolutely right about the road to the site, it is an unadopted road, so is very potholey and the speed bumps are an absolute pain.

I have just returned from our second visit here. I agree with previous review about the road and also shower blocks could be improved, but, I think this site is great. Shame we couldnt book the weather! My kids (and dogs) had a great time, and you cant beat being able to walk to the beach, fantastic views and cliff walks. Entertainment nightly and the swimming pool with no extra charge. Exeellent for families and great value for money. You could even manage to leave the car on the camp site during your stay!
