Well just to say this camp site has it all. Nice friendly people who just cant help you enough. Family run. Very clean and nothing is much trouble for them to help, you must see. We will be back with the fishing gear. Thanks for a great time. Lovely place to stay. Forest, lots of bird life, dog friendly, toilet spotless and showers. Lots to see and wifi, electric, water and lots of animals. Good fishing and nice people

What a wonderful site. The best small cl type site we have ever stayed on, quiet. But the welcome from allt he family was out of this world. We were met by Lawrence and his partner Vera with coffee and cakes then allowed to pick our site from those available. On the small river at the bottom of the site we saw a kingfisher and many other birds also one of the other caravaners saw a coypu swimming with its young. The toilet facilities were immaculate, Georges would book local restaurants he even booked a vet in Calais for us for our dog Ginny to have her treatment before coming home. We would certainly recommend this site to anybody wanting a peaceful holiday In a lovely part of France

This is a wonderful campsite for those who want to get away from it all. Beautiful location in woods bordering a little river, and as quiet as you want it to be. Toilet & shower block were the best we've ever seen - immaculately maintained. Loads to see and do in the surrounding area. The welcome from Margaret, George, Lawrence and Vera was second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would come again.

This site is a little gem its in a lovely position in the country yet close to local town 5 miles away with all the shops and a market you would require. Great area for walking and cycling if you like to keep fit. The toilets and showers were spot less and cleaned many times during the day. Nobody bothers you the the family are there if you need help or assistance but just leave you to enjoy your holiday. When we arrived Vera brought us a cold drink and some cake what a nice touch.

Thank you, we had a nice time and we will be back

Jenny and I and Puzzle the dog spent the most delightful relaxing holiday here,

The site itself is small yet offers well spaced pitches offering enough seclusion from others,

The facilities are superb,

The welcome from the owners is something I haven't experienced elsewhere and to be met after a long hot drive with a really welcoming drink to sit down in the shade wonderful.

The area is what it is and we found without having to drive miles plenty to do with wonderful lakes nearby to swim in (most have their own beaches). Great markets nearby, and some amazing towns like Branthome.

One piece of advise if you have a twin axle caravan make sure you have a mover on it as you will need it but this is not to the detriment of the site.

If you want rural tranquillity on an adult-only site in France this could be the spot for you! Camping Manzac Ferme is a few km down a country lane from Auginac, just north of Nontron. The site has recently been taken over by a British/Seychelles two-generation family who will give you a most friendly welcome, and maybe tell you about their interesting lives to date. There are only six or so pitches (hard standing) for caravans plus some tent pitches on a lower level in the woods. The toilet/shower facilities are excellent, slotting nicely into an old outbuilding, and as you leave/enter you may hear (and in the evening, see) the resident bats. For bird-watchers there is plenty to see, big and small. As others have reported, the caravan pitches are very close to the access lane, and sometimes the noise of vehicles is surprisingly loud, and for a short period in the mornings/evenings, frequent. However, this didn’t disturb us unduly. The site is in a heavily wooded part of the world - timber is a major industry around here, and festivals are held nearby to celebrate it - and so there are no distant views from the site. Nontron town is pleasant - perhaps a bit under-rated, in a fairly spectacular escarpment at the back of the town overlooked by the Jardins des Arts and the knife factory. The famous Nontron knives are superbly crafted, but pricey. During our short stay we visited St Jean de Cole - very pretty village, and Chateau Puyguilhem at nearby Villars. For a pleasant afternoon out at the beach, try L’Etang de St Estephe, just a few km from Auginac. The DIY rope ferry across the lake is great fun and there are canoes available to borrow.

We had an extremely pleasant vacation at Manzac; it was quiet and serene. The surroundings were beautiful and Georges and his family were the perfect hosts. There were two England matches during our stay and my husband and the other male campers were invited into the house to watch them.

The facilities are extremely clean and modern and you can purchase milk, fresh eggs or wine if your stocks are running low. You do need some kind of transport as the nearest town is around 5 miles away - we had a scooter which was perfect! However, there is a restaurant/bar within walking distance which opens from Friday to Sunday and is well worth a visit - the food is superb.

We will certainly be paying a return visit. Thank you Laurence, Vera, Margaret and Georges.

The campsite has undergone a change of owners since the last review was written and is now run by Georges and his son Laurence who were both pleasant. The site is not in the main tourist area of the Dordogne so be prepared for lots of driving to the hotspots. The site is surrounded by very tall trees which give it a very private feel but quite dark, there is also a road right behind the trees which whilst not busy, is so close that the tent vibrated when a car passed. We had originally booked for 2 weeks but decided to move further south due to the poor weather after 2 days, sadly the owners insisted we paid for the full 2 weeks which I did regardless of the fact we had not signed up to any booking terms and conditions. A lesson learnt is that outside of school holidays you really don't need to book in advance at French campsites.
Management response: This couple booked to stay with us for two weeks for May 2012 back in November 2011, and we held the site for them for the intervening six months in the good faith that they would want the site for the full two weeks. Unfortunately the weather was not in their favour so they chose to leave early.

We had not previously had booking terms and conditions as we are such a small site, with very limited pitches (only 10) and we like to operate on good faith. As a result of this feedback, (sadly not provided at the time) we have added them to our booking form so that it is clear that if a booking is cancelled then we can only refund any nights that we are able to re-sell, which I believe is fairly normal practice. Lesson learnt.

Manzac Ferme is a small, adults-only rural site in a less well-known part of the Dordogne. It is currently run by a very pleasant and helpful British couple, John and Sandra, who are attentive and welcoming and create a relaxed atmosphere on a well cared-for site. They 'visit' each day to check that all is well, which is a nice touch.

The facilities are all spotlessly clean and hot water plentiful. Our dogs were welcomed warmly and had a shady area in which to play, away from other campers, which was a real bonus. On the other hand, the adjacent forest restricted the views.

Plenty of local information is provided and we enjoyed several visits to pretty towns/villages eg Brantome and a beautiful lake [St Estephe]which you can walk around. We have visited the Dordogne many times before and seen all the major sights but if this had been our first visit we would have preferred to be closer to the attractions.

There is supermarket shopping within a few miles and also a vet. An old mill/bar/restaurant is within walking distance. The introduction of wi-fi would be greatly appreciated as there is no mobile phone signal on site.

The weather in mid-September was a little disappointing, around 20-22 degrees, with quite a lot of cloud at times.

We would recommend this site for a quiet and relaxing stay on a good-sized pitch among pleasant, but not exceptional, countryside.
Management response: Hi, and thanks for taking the time to write a review! We're pleased to say that from 2012 we are offering free wi-fi to all of our guests across the site. Thanks for the feedback!

Just returned from a lovely relaxing week at this wonderful little site. We were given a very friendly welcome by Sandra the owner and shown to our pitch.

The pitches are spacious and all hardstanding. The facilities are very clean and hot water always available. The gardens and grass are kept immaculate. Sandra and John came every day to check everything was ok and were extremely helpful with any information you may need. There are lots of walks for dogs and Ruby our little dog loved Sandra. The site is very peaceful and quiet.

It is a beautiful area with lots of pretty small towns to visit. The markets are a must. Lots of wild life and birds to see.

We would definitely recommend this beautiful little adult only site to everyone.
