This is a lovely well kept site a real credit to the wardens. The toilets and showers were immaculate. The site is on two levels and we pitched on the top one with great views, but all pitches had good views. There was a little bit of traffic noise from the road but it didn't bother us at all. The site has a games room with a pool table and other machines. A stroll past the lake brings you to the local pub, whilst we didn't eat in there we did stop for morning coffee on our way back from a walk and it was very nice sat by the river. On the down side we found we had to travel a long way to find anything to do and the lanes are really narrow. But if you want a quiet and relaxing holiday I would certainly recommend lakeside.

Arrived at this excellent site with very nice wardens who always had time for a chat and were very helpful. This site offers lovely views of the valley the facilities are usual cc standards. Coarse fishing is adjacent £5 a day ticket are available from wardens mon-fri only. The Anchor pub is just a short stroll round the lake, and is very welcoming and serves good food. It sits by the river Exe, has a lovely bridge and beautiful garden. Fly fishing is available just over the bridge, for other coarse fishing lakes, Oaktree fishery is 15-20 mins away. Also fourwins is 10 mins away.
For a good free day out (apart from parking) visit whimbleball lakes. If you're fit you can walk the 9 miles round the lake, if not just visit the dam, it only takes 30-40 mins steady stroll. Well worth a look.
If you intend to go to this lovely site take insect repellent with you as there are lots of biting monsters that can give nasty bites as my husband found out (it must be a man thing because I didn't get bit once and didn't wear repellent)

This is a truly lovely site in a beautiful spot. The facilities are all new and spotless and the pitches were spacious, many with lovely views down the valley. It's just a short walk (although a bit muddy when we were there)from the bottom of the site passing a pretty fishing lake to the pub which serves excellent food and is set by an ancient bridge over the River Exe. We will definitely return and spend longer than one night next time.

Wow what an amazing site, just returned from a long weekend stay here and would recommend this site to anyone. Huge spacious pitches, emaculate shower and toilet block, (no queues here) very friendly warm welcome on arrival. Great dog/exercise area with more than enough bins provided for their doings. Great food at the pub only a short stroll past the fishing lake (could even take our puppy in) Lots of places to vist near by, arrived back home well chilled and will sure be back soon.

My family and I have just returned from two weeks at this caravan club site. It rained solidly for two weeks. However, this site is fantastic. The play area kept the children occupied for days even in the rain! The showers and toilets are immaculate and the laundry was efficient and cost approx.£5.00 per load including using the tumble driers. The wardens were extremely helpful and cheerful despite the awful weather. The site is very well placed for visiting all that is glorious on Exmoor including Tarr Steps, Wimbleball Lake, Dunkery Beacon and approx 40 mins drive from Minehead, Porlock and Dunster. The pub is a short stroll away where the children can play in the river. The specials board did not change for the whole 2 weeks, cost a little more than expected but the staff were extremely helpful and it was a lovely pub. A great site and we will definitely return for another wet summer holiday.

We have visited this site both before and since the total revamp of the site. We enjoyed it before and now with the new facilities it is even better. Excellent showers and toilets, always spotless. Good exercise area for dogs, it is considerably smaller than it was but still plenty of space for dogs to run around. Short walk across the field by the fishing lake to local pub. The horses in the first field enjoy seeing if they can scare people when they walk through the field. When we were there the last time the horses had broken the gate into their field and come up the steps to try and come into the camp site.

My family and I had a fabulous weeks holiday at the end of August 2007 at Lakeside. It is extremely clean and the wardens were very very helpful. On arrival we found that our gas regulator would not fit the new gas bottle we had bought but they very kindly found us a regulator that did fit, and even tried to get us a new one from their local caravan supplier unfortunately he didn't have one in stock. Chris said no problem & they lent us the spare one for the full week we were there.
Both the Wardens Carol & Chris and the other workers on the site are very hard working nothing seems too much trouble for any of them. The toilet block is new, very clean (cleaned daily every morning) there are even fresh flowers in there a really nice touch. Home from home. The showers are free and there are separate cubicles for washing as well. There's a washing up area/veg preparation room with 3 sinks in again very clean. The shop on site sells all the essential & there is fresh bread delivered daily & cream teas (super) they also sell a few essential caravan parts.
There are fully service, hard standing & grass pitches so you have a good choice. There is a fishing pool very close by and the local pub is only a short walk around the fishing pool right by the river very nice & friendly. Dulverton is only a short drive away nice village various shops butchers, tea rooms, newsagents, hardware etc. Tiverton is a bit further away but a much bigger town with a large supermarket.
We really enjoyed our time at this site and will definitely be returning again next year when we hope to see Carol & Chris again. We would recommend this site to adults & people who have older children. There is a games room on site which has video machines & pool tables but it is more for teenagers than the little ones. The area for children to kick a ball about is away from the caravans but there isn't any play equipment swing etc for them. That is the only fault we could say there is with this site. BEAUTIFUL !

What can we say, just got back from a five day visit and it is a superb site. The toilet facilities are like a a hotel, heated and spotless at all times. Private cubicles fantastic showers etc etc. The site it self is immaculate throughout. There is a dog walk where they can run off lead, there are grass and hard standing pitches also 8 super pitches. Fresh bread is delivered every morning and basic items can be bought from the site shop. There is a games room to keep the kids busy. The views are breathtaking and a 5 minute walk takes you to a pub by the river which serves food and accepts dogs. Within easy reach of the M5 and well located for sight seeing. Friendly wardens on hand most of the time, we will be going back very soon.
