Location is excellent for Northleach village, Roman ruins and not bad for Cheltenham. Campsite is quite spacious, & nearly level, with open aspect on one side, and as others have mentioned, up against a busy road.
It is very much a basic site, at which you just arrive, & set up. There is no office, and we never saw anybody 'official' until we were about to leave - apparently, sometimes they never even turn up, so you might get to stay for free! We hoped they might not come in our case (no such luck!) .
As the minimal facilities had a run-down uncared-for feel - toilets had not been cleaned, some not even flushed, one was flooded with water, shower taps could not be turned off fully, etc - we felt that £10 a night for a small van + 2 adults was steep. (We had just come from a superb, all-facilities, pristine site for the same price, and went on to a site similar in quality to this one - but at only half the price.)

Nice campsite. Very basic, as expected, but what more do you need? Yes, there is road noise from the traffic, and also noise from some machinary attached near the toilets and showers, but it was all 'white noise' and wasn't really bothersome. If you're a very light sleeper, just bring some earplugs.
The campsite was clean and quiet, and we would stay there again. The is no external lighting, so do bring your torch, and don't forget your flip-flops for the shower stall.

We visited this site for our first camping experience and thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.
We thought the campsite could have been better though and here is out assessment.
When we arrived we were the only people on the site and struggled to find the electrical hookup point, we managed to find a member of staff in the building behind the field who helped us out.
The grass was very long and made for instantly wet shoes when walking on it in the mornings or evenings and because of the length of the grass we could not judge where the best place for the tent was. Ultimately we pitched on a very uneven area which was difficult to walk on and sleep on with an airbed.
There are 4 points for EHU.
We felt we were overcharged somewhat as it stated it was £8.50 per night with EHU but we were charged for a double pitch because we apparently had a large tent. Its 7 meters by 2 meters and we have been told this is NOT a large tent. A little annoyed about that but it didnt ruin our weekend.
Facilities were, on arrival, not great. The toilets were full of other peoples poo as well as an abundance of dead daddy long legs all over the cubicles, in the wash areas and in the washing up sinks. This did improve slightly as for the saturday night a large group arrived.
A big point which would stop us returning was the noise form the adjacent road. Your right next to a main road which has trucks and cars whizzing along until the early hours.
We enjoyed our first experience but the facilities could have been better. Not because it was basic but felt the upkeep of the place could have been better.

We really enjoyed this campsite and look forward to returning. It has a quiet, basic, no fuss atmosphere which suited us perfectly. Toilet facilities good although there were often long queues for showers in mornings and evenings. We arrived on the Friday evening of a bank holiday weekend and had plenty of space in which to pitch the tent. In retrospect we probably made a bad choice in pitching next to the 'road side' of the camping field, as this was quite noisy day and night and was also in the shade in the evening. No shop on site but we found the Tesco in Stow had everything we needed anyway. We walked across the fields to Northleach in the day-time and really enjoyed the 40 minute walk, but wouldn't have fancied walking across in the darkness. We definitely plan to return to this campsite when we get opportunity!

We stayed at this site one night and really enjoyed the fact that it was 30 feet to the next tent and very quiet in terms of noise from other campers. There was one field with mown grass and one much larger field with long grass - you can take your pick.
The facilities now have lighting. Yes they are basic - it's a steel lean to and the gap under the doors are open to the elements but they are clean and the showers don't require you to press a button every 30 seconds to keep the hot water going. Ladies and gents share the four loos and three showers. There are two sinks for handwashing etc and two for washing up.
There's no site reception; you pitch where you want and someone will come and find you.
It's a shame about the road noise but earplugs take care of that and the night sky was truly amazing.
There weren't enough bins to store all the rubbish and it would be greener if there were recycling facilities for glass, cans etc.

Me and my husband went on our first camping trip to Far Peak and thoroughly enjoyed it. Considering it was Bank Holiday weekend we had plenty of space, Chris, the owner, was very laid back and friendly and the facilities were more than adequate. Other reviews have mentioned that they are basic but there was plenty of hot water, they were clean and easily accessible and at the end of the day we're camping! We did walk to the pub over the fields which was very easy but more like 11/2 miles, the village is lovely and the food in the Sherbourne Arms good and reasonably priced. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

Really good basic campsite no fuss and loads of space. Limited hookups and great views of the stars in the evening if the Sky's are clear. Good base to explore Gloucestershire. Would stay again as prefer the no fuss approach. Local town of northleach is quite expensive but loads of pubs there not sure about the description of small walk over the fields??

Had a really enjoyable stay here. Despite the previous comments, we were more than satisfied with the facilities and the price (in comparison to others in the area). Yes, the facilities were 'rustic', but were always clean, and whist a light may have been nice, taking a torch with us to them was hardly an issue! The only negative that I can say about this site, which would admittedly put us off returning was the road noise - such a shame as otherwise we would certainly be regulars. Maybe we're just too into back country / rustic camping!

We found was site was very expensive for the facilities that were on offer. For example there was no drains for grey water waste or toilet waste. The 'shower/toilet block' was a steel lean to with no lighting at all.The grass was 6" long. The hookup points were just several extension leads. All in all it was not a pleasant site. Maybe aimed more at people with tents.
