Spent a couple of nights at Pindale Farm with a few of my friends from further afield (I live in SW Sheffield and only 25 minutes from the campsite!). It’s not my first time at the campsite, having stayed there with family and friends in the past.
Once again the facilities were nice and clean and the grass recently cut. One important area for me is the owner, nice and friendly but also strict, a requirement I think for the busiest national park in the country. Don’t go there expecting to have fires and be rowdy, that’s not to say you can’t have a good time there!
Hope is a short walk away and Castleton isn’t that far away (quicker the back way but you’ll need a torch at night), worth visiting Castleton as I think the pubs are better than in Hope.
There’s a spar in Hope, along with other shops (excellent bike shop if you’re there mountain biking) and places to eat (Woodbine Café is great).
The only niggle is the noise of the cement works, whilst noticeable when you arrive and you’re pitching up, it becomes less and less noticeable (if you know what I mean).
I’ve used the site before and will use it again, my fiends have always been happy when we stay there.

We had a really enjoyable stay at pindale Farm. There was 7 of us staying, we were doing some mountain biking in the area.
The camp-site was well looked after, the toilets were clean, and although there was only 2 showers they were also clean, warm and your clothes don't get wet whilst showering.
Also the owner was kind enough to lock up our bikes in his bunker/garage, which I thought was very kind of him. It allowed us peace of mind that they were safe, so we could head out and enjoy a lovely curry in town.
The campsite operates a name and shame policy and zero tolerance to anti social behaviour. Because of this we had a great stay and a lovely nights sleep.

Spent one night at Pindale Farm as I came home early as it was far too cold - 2 at night!
The owner is really nice and friendly and after showing me where I could pitch said to get in touch if I needed anything.
The field was spacious and the grass had been recently cut. Although the toilets were clean there were lots of cobwebs, these were old so hadn't been removed with a broom for a long time and were only on top of the cubile top. Also several times there wasn't any loo rolls in any of the cubicles. There also wasn't any soap in the dispenser for my entire stay.
The ladies has 4 or 5 toilets and 1 shower, with a group of 300 doe kids I didn't get a chance to use the shower as it was constantly busy.
I do agree with the reviews about the cement works, I live in a city and it's quieter at night where I live, it sounds as if there's a motorway next door!
All in all I probably wouldn't use the site again as I wanted peace and quiet at night.

We stayed for one night arriving on Friday afternoon. The site is split into two areas with the owner’s house, camping barns and facilities in the middle. We set up camp in the top field which had views of Mam Tor in the distance. Other review mention the noisy cement works but it is far from it. There was the occasional claxon which reminded us of the clock tower near our house going off every 15 minutes.
The owner is quite strict (rightly so) but basic common sense and respect for his site will see you enjoy your stay and not end up in his named and shamed folder on his website. We paid £12 for two adults in a campervan with awning.
The toilet block / washing up facilities were always clean and there was plenty of hot water.
There is a spar shop in the village 1 mile away stocking everything (our instant lighting charcoal bag didn’t light so I had to go buy a disposable bbq) there are plenty of pubs and takeaways too.
Castleton and onward to Mam Tor is a 30 minute walk from the site so there is no need to drive.
We found this site very peaceful and will definitely be returning to explore more of the area.

We first used this site 20 years ago and rediscovered it last summer (staying there 3 times).
We have just returned from our one and only visit of this year and really enjoyed our stay.
Alan who owns the site is a thoroughly decent guy, and quite rightly expects visitors to treat his property with respect, though unfortunately a small minority do not.
The site is well situated, equidistant between Hope and Castleton (albeit adjacent to the cement works which can be heard from the site). If the gentle hum bothers you at night, foam earplugs will guarantee a perfect nights sleep.
The facilities are clean and work well. Free hot water for showers and washing up, with dishcloths and detergent provided. Token operated tumble dryers and washing machine (although the washer was unserviceable due to some moron shoving their families walking boots in it)!
The camping fields can get quite waterlogged after bad weather so pitch carefully. Closest to the toilets is not necessarily the best decision.
We can't comment on the bunkhouses as we haven't used them, but may well try them in early Winter.
There are loads of walks directly from the site, or you can hop in the car one valley to Edale. The Derwent valley with it's reservoirs and easy walks are 10 mins drive away.
Hope is a bit bit bland so we only used it for the excellent little Spar supermarket and the nearby greengrocers.
Castleton is much prettier and has quite a few pubs, although some are rather pretentious eateries and not really 'pubs'. We favoured Ye Old Cheshire Cheese, good old fashioned pub with food and frequented by locals. (Free quiz on Sundays).
We use Pindale in term time or if in the school holidays from Sunday to Friday, purely because it can get crowded, especially at weekends when the weather is good. Unfortunately a small minority turn up with badly behaved kids or groups of young people intend to have an open air party, which is not much fun!
The rules Alan imposes on BBQ'S and fire pits is purely because some people have stolen logs from him and his neighbours or cut down trees nearby.
If you are a true camper who enjoys the countryside and walking, from a clean and well equipped camp site, Pindale is for you.
If you want to buy a cheap tent, drive into the countryside to party all weekend on cheap booze, in front of a smoking instant light BBQ and then light a huge fire, Pindale is not for you.
Because quite rightly, Alan will tell you to leave!

Well kept site. Nice clean facilities. Friendly proprietor. Turn left out of the site and walk straight on for 20mins for fab fish and chips at Castleton chippy. **BUT** (Saturday night)Cement works not to bad except when lorry engines are revving and anti social neighbours, Radio 1 and dog barking all night. Is it just me that finds all the idiots?(Sunday night) Perfect. The steady hum from the works without the lorries is no problem

This is a very nice campsite with some very nice views, the site is kept very clean and tidy. The showers and toilet blocks are also very clean and fresh.
I want to make anyone wanting to go in a large tent, (6 berth or above) aware that if the tent isn't used to full capacity there may be extra charges, or even told to take the tent down. We have a 6 berth Outwell Hertford XL, with 5 people sleeping. If we were going as a couple, the owner said he would have asked us to take the tent down, as in his view was 'anti-social'. So if you use a larger tent, make sure that when booking, to make site owners aware of this.
Over all we were very pleased with the site, and even the nearby cement works didn't make enough of a noise to be concerned about.

Just spent 4 nights at Pindale, a lovely little site that I will certainly visit again. The field where we camped was lovely, with views of Mam Tor and Lose Hill. The grass was in lovely condition.
There is a lower field, which at the time of my visit was populated by Duke of Edinburgh kids, but they were far enough away to be no problem.
The toilets were very clean and well kept. The showers were adequate and free.Good pot washing facilities with washing up liquid, scourers etc provided. There was also a chest freezer for freezer blocks (for cool boxes)and also washing machines and dryers. (£1 token required)
It was around 20 mins walk to and from Castleton and around the same to Hope where there is a well equipped Spar shop.
The owner was nice and very helpful.
It is near the cement factory. There is a gentle hum, but you hardly notice it (although my car did end up covered in dust !)
At £5 a head this was a great little fine and well worth the money.

Stayed here a couple of times and its always been ok. The views are amazing apart from the blue circle cement factory and the walks in and around castleton are sweet.
Maybe the reception could be better as I felt like a school kid when I asked about firepits and then got talked down too.
So all in all its fine, apart from the fires out at 10 rule, even though its in a firepit and well controlled.

We came across this site by chance and a pleasant surprise it was too,
Was nice and tidy with the showers & toilets very clean,
We managed to get 1 of the very few electric pitches so ideal to book for these,
nice 20 min stroll into hope village and a 30 minute wobble back after a few cold ones ! A nice indian takeaway was had from the village and the pitches were flat enough to cook breakfasts/bbqs.
Nice and peaceful didn't hear the cement works some go on about (told you the cold drinks were nice !).
Overall a very nice site that we will be visiting again.
