We have just spent 3 nights at this site, we originally tried to book the old powder house but were told it had been vandalised the week before, however there was room in the barn and the owner allowed us sole use of an eight berth self catering unit for £20 per night (me the wife and dog) so a real bargain. The accommodation was fine with a large bunk that would sleep 4 per tier, the kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need.
The shower and toilet facilities were clean and well maintained. The site itself is very nice with lots of options as to what kind of accommodation you require and the cement factory next door didn't even register until they did some blasting on Wednesday afternoon.
The walk into Castleton was pleasant enough and the castle is a top pub. The other pubs in the area that we tried were dog friendly and there is an abundance of eating options. The only downside to Castleton is the lack of ATM's but the post office is close to the centre of the village and we had no problem withdrawing cash from there.
Pindale farm is well worth using as a base to explore the Hope Valley and surrounding area with lots of trails for all standards of walker, The caves in Castleton are well worth a visit and the national park visitor centre is worth an hour of your time.

Will be returning here as it has all you need on site and loads to do in the surrounding area. Yes you can hear cement factory next door but apart from occasional blast on a siren it's hardly noticeable. Facilities are good, usually clean but you are in walking country so some mud can't be avoided in showers. Castleton is very nice (pubs and food especially) only drove through Hope but looked dull in comparison. Check out the hot sandwiches in Peveril grocery store, Castleton, run by very friendly couple. Chatsworth House well worth a visit. We stopped 4 nights with ehu for £76 which I think is good value.

Pindale is a site which I used quite often a couple of years ago and have recently revisited. I only live 40 minutes away and know castleton and hope well. The site is clean and friendly and the facilities are great. My favourite thing is the 15 minute stroll into the heart of castleton where you can enjoy walking, the caves and the numerous pubs in the area (You may need a torch to get back if you stay later into the evening). The only negative is the cement works very near by but in my experiences it is soon forgot about.

Found this site by accident and although almost nextdoor to the cement works, when we pitched there it was largely unobtrusive. The camping field was a little damp due to the constant rain we had, but the facilities were excellent. Warm showers/toilets and very friendly staff/reception, local shops/pubs are well within walking distance. All in all I would highly reccomend the site for a visit nice and out of the way for peace and quiet.

I visited Pindale as part of a large group booking.
There were approx 50 tents and we booked out the whole of the site many months in advance.
On arriving we were warned that the toilets and showers were 'dreadful' and indeed, were not cleaned in the whole Friday - Monday we were there. I asked up at the house when they would be cleaned and was told 'when you all go home!' There was frequently no loo roll, and a sink in the ladies leaked all over the floor each time it was used.
This was a real shame, because the site itself was in such a fabulous location, and fairplay to our organisers, they visited earlier in the year when it was clean and tidy.
Another member of our group asked why it was as bad as it was, and the lady there told him it was her father's site and that he had gone around the world, and that she had no means of transport to get cleaning materials.
Like I say - BIG shame - we had a great weekend there anyway as our group always does!
Beware - the lorries visiting the cement works and the continuous blasting can get a little loud at night, but if you're here, you're here for walking and so should be shattered at the end of each day anyway!

Stayed last night (Friday 7th june). The site was very nice and so was Helen, the lady in reception. We went to the Cheshire Cheese pub in Hope. 5 very well presented local real ales and what looked like very good food. We cannot wait to go back again, perhaps midweek next time it might be even quieter. Overall ten out of ten. The staff must work very hard to maintain the high standards at Pindale Farm.

Great Site!
Close to the cement works which the kids absolutely loved as you can see the freight trains coming in and out and having a train obsessed 3 year old this was good. Must point out that there was little noise heard at all from any activities at the works. Hope Village at one end of the road and Castleton at the other, take your pick!
At peak times parking was tight but eveyone seemend to fit in one way or another. We couldn't park next to the tents, but again I think this is quite good as we have a 2 year old and a 3 year old and it meant we didn't have to worry about vehicles moving about.
No allocated pitches which is good so it meant you could be a close to or as far away from others as you wished, though on a Bank Holiday weekend you don't get much room!
A few loud people on the Sat night, but at least they are out in the country enjoying themselves and not at home stuck in front of the tv.
Facilities seemed pretty new and were well maintained, lots of loo roll and hot showers and somewhere to wash up, what more do you need.
Overall a good site and would go back again.

This is a very friendly owned site that doesn't seem to suffer too much from the very close cement works - it was raining when we went so to be honest that would have kept any dust down. Lovely wildlife and you can walk to the local pub, takes about 20 minutes on the way there (downhill and sober), 40 minutes on the way back (uphill, obviously and full of beer). On the downside, parking was in dire need of a bit of management and improved signage. There's no tracking of owners to tents which would make emergency contact very difficult. Also there's no checking to ensure emergency services access is possible. Unfortunately there was no power to the shower block in the morning, so darkness and cold showers! Some rowdy children running riot until late but that's more of a lack of parental control than the fault of the owners.

We have camped here twice now and it is always a pleasure. The last time we stayed for a week and used the place to tour around Derbyshire and Yorkshire. The rates are fantastic and the facilities basic but more than adequate. The kids love it, the people who come extremely friendly. The cement works is hardly noticeable. Highly recommended and we will be back again this year

A nice quiet, basic & cheap campsite (no hookups, no playground, no marked pitches etc.) situated halfway between Hope and Castleton. Very good new toilet facilities, although they are a bit of a wander from the large field (particularly for the ladies). There seem to a number of different fields, only one of which is accessible by car (the largest one) and the bottom end of this field can get a bit damp, but there is so much space it should not be a problem to pitch on a dry flat bit. Very sheltered and quiet, but you will find everything gets covered in cement dust and there is a gently rumble from the works, but this is much less obtrusive than the road/train noise you get on other campsites in the area. Campsite owner friendly when he can be found and was quite happy that we pitched up when we could not find him. When we went there was only one other tent there, but I would presume it is much busier at less chilly and damp times of the year. There are also a variety of bunkhouse options available on site which can house a very large number of people and so the main car park was completely full although the camping fields were largely empty. recommended for budget quiet camping, we will return.
