Stayed 3 nights over May Day Bank Holiday, Booked in advance got confirmed booking with EHU.
On arrival no one around to show us our pitch, walked around out buildings, knocking on doors, shouted still no one came. As site was empty just picked a site and started to set up. Later saw someone in farm yard, so went to check we were ok in the spot we had picked. Was told we were ok.
Went to pay, and was told price had gone up from web site quoted price of £12. 50 to £16. 00 per night with EHU.
Just 1 Gents and 1 Ladies Toilet. Both toilets very dark poor lighting. Ladies toilet door did not shut properly and would not lock (had to whistle). On arrival Friday, toilets were clean and tidy, but they did not seem to have been cleaned for the rest of the week-end.
Did not use shower, but others on site who did complained that their was no hot water.
Toilet vanity units were soaking due to people washing pots in wash basins. Gents ran out of toilet paper and was not replenished.
Waste disposal is a major hassle, having to open a heavy trap door (that had fallen off hinges) over a pit, that stunk. It did not help when the pit was emptied Sunday evening when a number of visitors were BBQing, The whole area stunk (not of meat cooking) but it attracted hordes of flies.
We, as well as others staying were not impressed at all by this site.

Lovely little, no frills site.
Has lovely new hot showers (50p for 8 mins, plenty of time)and loo. Only 1 female and 1 male, but as its a very small site this was plenty.
We used hard standing as it was a very wet weekend. The grass pitches were really lovely, large and very private with tree dividers.
Two adults and a cheeky spaniel with tourer and EHU was only £15 per night, bargain.
Would definitely recommend for those who like a very quiet get-away-from-it-all site, and wish to take day trips to the likes of Alton Towers, Bakewell, Ashbourne, Matlock.

We arrived on a cold and dark Friday night about 6ish. The site owner must have seen our headlights coming down the drive (which had recently been tarmaced ) and came to meet us. He informed us that the water was off because they had had freezing conditions for quite a while and offered to fill our two 40 ltr aquarolles for us at the farm and bring them up to us, which he did in no time. He told us we could pitch anywhere as there was no one else coming to stay.
He left us saying he was off to his sons pub in ipstones about a mile away, and that we should try it ( he would say that wouldn't he).
We pitched on the stone drive on the site for ease but could have used one of five very large individual hard standing pitches with their own power and lovely grassed areas. The water is nice and close (when not frozen )
Saturday we awoke to the frozen landscape of the white peak at its best, a vista of pure magic. We lazed around our bailey carolina s6 planning our day for when the skies cleared a bit. So off into leek for a few essentials at asda ( 4ish miles) where we found a local walking guide which had a 5 and a half mile circular hike from grindon around the manifold vally and taking in thors cave (a big hit with our young girls on account of the dragons who live there ) and back up to the amazing church at grindon.
We took the owners advice to eat at his sons pub and were blown away with the welcom, service, food quality, food quantity and great cask ales. The prices will NOT make your eyes water.
The on site ladies/ gents toilets and showers were very clean and tidy if not a bit far from the site ( 60mtrs ).
All in all we had a really relaxing time we will return when it's warmer.
We paid 15 pounds a night with hook up.
Two adults a 5 year old and an eight year old had four main meals ( one a t bone steak ) two pints of bitter three j2os for £45 at the pub.
Not a bad weekend away for £60.

This is a lovely little site with friendly owners, we live 10 miles away and visited for a midweek getaway trip, the site only has one toilet and one shower (50p for 8 minutes) but at £12. 50 per night with electric, you can't complain!
Fabulous views, and a massive pitch, not much around the site but a short 10 minute drive to leek and you will find lots of shops, supermarkets etc,
Children loved it here, brought our swingball and games and had a fabulous time, will certainly be visiting again
Would definitely recommend to others too

We managed to book this site on the spur of the moment on a bank holiday weekend, probably because they hadn't updated their adverts with the fact that they now had a loo and shower.
The site will hold about 7 or 8 vans on hardstanding and maybe 10 or a dozen smallish tents, I couldn't see anywhere that you could pitch one of the 8+ berth behemoths.
All the hardstandings and some of the grass pitches had EHU. There is a stand pipe for water. The whole site is well kept, grass mown, kept clean and generally a nice place to be. I didn't see any 'rules' while we were there and the owners were very friendly.
The owner had just finished installing one loo/shower/wash room the day before we arrived. He is working on another one so that there will be a gents and a ladies. These facilities are in an old farm building maybe 50 meters from the camping field. (Unfortunately) a 50p shower meter was installed the day we left.
This is a working farm and it's 'in the wilds', the nearest village (Onecote) is about a mile. Onecote has a super 'real ale' pub (with a family room) that does tasty, filling meals for £7 - £10, there is apparently a more upmarket pub in the next nearest village but we didn't try it. Leek is the closest town with decent shopping facilities about 15/20 mins drive.
The whole area is a walkers paradise, very close to the Roaches, not far from Dovedale and plenty of interesting NT properties a short drive away. Several footpaths cross or are nearby the site.
One final thing. When it blows around here, by 'eck does it blow. We had F6 and 7 easterlies and we weren't able to get in the shelter of the hedges so we were buffeted. Luckily our tent (a Dutch pyramide) is designed for such weather, a lesser tent would have been sorely tried.
If you like quiet, basic but well kept sites in wild-ish country then this is the site for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely quiet place. The people who run the site are very pleasant. The toilet and showers are kept very clean. The pitches are well maintained. The water supply is close by the pitches.
The town isn't to far away and there is a pub close by.
There are a few horse on the site and the owners of the horses were happy to let my children look around. There is also a pound that my children where allowed to go around and see the ducks. There isn't much to do on the site or a shop but all in all a lovely welcoming site.
Will defo return 4 a quiet weekend away with the children.

Absolutely beautiful site. Stayed August bank holiday weekend for 5 nights and really enjoyed the weekend, bargain price, although there are no toilets or showers (they are being built) which did worry me with 3 kids it was fine, we brought the kids a kite so they were well entertained. Leek is only a 5 minute drive away which has all the shops you need, not far from Stoke, we did a bike ride (8 mile each way) in Waterhouses Manifold Valley which was beautiful. Will definitely return as will my dad and father in law.

We arrived at the site and was greeted by Mr Peter Hill who welcomed us and told us where to pitch up etc, as it had been raining the previous week our car was having difficulty manoeuvring on the wet grass. Mr Hill was more than happy to help us with the caravan and soon we were pitched up
Nothing was too much trouble, we had a problem with the battery on the car but again Mr Hill came to the rescue and charged the battery in the pouring rain might I add
The views are breathtaking and it is so quiet and peaceful, there are no facilities so be aware, we only needed electric hookup so we were ok
We enjoyed a meal in the Jarvis Arms good food friendly pub and very reasonable. There is a morrisons supermarket not too far away also a coop and leek is just a few miles down the road also Buxton and Hanley which is a shoppers paradise!
We would definitely come again we really enjoyed our stay, we arrived as strangers and left as friends.
