We stayed at this fantastic site the last week of the school holiday. We really enjoyed our stay. Although it was nearly full it never seemed busy - we never had to wait for shower, loo or washing up. The showers were SPOTLESS and very large.
We found the location to be good as it is within easy striking distance of either the north or south coast - we listened to the weather and decided which way to go!
Views from the site are great and it is very quiet especially after about 9.30pm. The stars on a clear night are stunning.
We will be back!

I chose this site as it was only an hour from home, which was idea for a long weekend. The site was just as expected, lovely and peaceful with a big green area in the middle for the kids to run around in.
The site was pretty much full when we were there in the 2nd weekend in August, but it in no way felt busy. (I didn't have to queue for a shower at all in our 4 day stay - even first thing in the morning)
The facilities were fab, there seemed to be someone cleaning them at least a couple of times a day. Other campers were very good at giving shower room floors a quick mop after they used them, this was a really good system as it ensured they stayed really clean. There was a family shower room too with baby changing station. The little shop sold frozen meat - some of it produced on the farm and other daily essentials. Also a small selection kites and beach stuff.
The location was ok - though it took a lot longer to get to the north cornwall coast than we expected. More like an hour by the time you've wiggled your way all the way to the main road to Bude. Being fairly local we didn't have any great trips planned, but you'd have to travel quite a bit to get to places of interest if staying there for a week or more.
One draw back of the site (for me) is the proximity to Dartmoor - whilst beautiful, it did mean (on our particular weekend) it was rather misty and murkey the whole time. Whilst the weather in South and East devon that weekend had been quite nice.
My only other niggle is that our site was rather muddy and boggy when we arrived. Which I was surprised about as it hadn't been particularly wet. I wouldn't like to be there after heavy rain. We were on the Rook pitch, which is on the lower side of the field and under a hedge, so a bit shady and damp. If I go again I will book on the far end or the top hedge. Where it is sunnier and drier.
All in all this was a great little site for us, easy to get to, nice and safe for the kids to play and very peaceful, so you didn't feel like you were battling 100s of other campers for space or showers or to get anywhere on the roads.

To begin with booking this site is brilliant. You get to pick online which pitch you want, what type of standing and what facilities, for example we chose a grass pitch with a small hardstanding for the car. It had electricity and it's own tap so no traipsing around the site for water.
What a gorgeous site. We arrived in the late afternoon. Finding the site without satnav we thought would prove somewhat difficult as it is down a very long lane but well worth the search. It is stunning. The pitches are huge in comparison to other sites we have visited. The pitches are given names instead of numbers which I found quite sweet. The huge grassed area in the centre of the site is wonderful for allowing your little ones to play independenly without being out of sight.
The facilities are fantastic. The toilet block was spotless every time we visited. Each toilet cubicle had it's own little handbasin and were very generously sized. The showers were awesome, power showers which had lovely hot water. Each cubicle had a huge wooden chair, a place to hang your clothes. The shower had a little step up and an accordion glass door to ensure your items of clothing did not get wet. Each shower also had a rubber mat so you didn't slip.
The potwash was inside and also had a washer and dryer, we used this and they were very good sizes. You get a token from the shop which is open for an hour in the morn and afternoon, I asked the owner if I could purchase a token for the washer and he sent someone down to open the shop. There is also an iron and board should you feel the need, I did not!
There is also a baby shower room, in case your little ones need a less powerful shower. This had a pull down baby change, a designated nappy bin and a potty for younger children to use that also doubled as a step for those little people that aren't quite big enough to reach the toilet seat.
There is a play area where children can press a button and water shoots up from the ground. This was very popular as it was redhot when we visited.
The shop has herbs growing outside with a sign giving you permission to use the herbs.
The views from the site are amazing and the view of the stars at night is awe inspiring. Our only gripe was we didn't book for longer! We will definitely be visiting again.

This camp site is great a very nice place to stay if you want to get away from it all. I went to waterproof my tent here but on arriving the Friday it was spitting with rain so I phoned them to let them know I was going to pitch the tent and was given my pitch which was called the secret squirrel. All the pitches have names and not numbers which made a change, some pitches have electric. The toilet block is very tidy and well kept, the showers are power showers nice at the end of the day to relax the muscles. They have a shop that opens from 9am-10am then again at 4pm-5pm.
The play area for the children is in the middle and they have plenty of room to kick a ball around and play other games. The pitches are big, I could park two cars and have my tt with sun canopy on as well, nice to have room to spread. They have a place for emptying the portable toilets. The only down side was going to and fro from the camp site their road/lane has many potholes a 4x4 would have been better but I got through with my scenic.
The two major towns are Okehampton and have many shops and the other is Launceston also has loads of shops but both full of places to visit, I would definitely go back to this site again.
And I was told if I do need to waterproof my tent all I have to do is give them a ring, this place is a jewel in the countryside well worth a visit

The site is in a location that means you must drive to get anywhere - the nearest shop is 10 miles away and there is no pub to walk to. If you get a take away it will be cold by the time you drive back.
The shop is basic and never really had much in - no gas - the nearest being 10 miles away too
Apart from the A30 the roads in this area are all narrow and single lane so a drive to Padstow will take 1 1/2 hours each way for instance.
The showers looked nice but where cold on the whole if you did not make it before the water had gone. There are only 4 showers and 1 was out of action for 5 days leaving only 3.
When you use the online booking service it does not show all the pitches so you book what you think is a peaceful pitch on the end - then it turns out that you have someone either side of you.

We arrived at the site on a very wet and extremely windy day so much so that we could not put the awning up until the following day. The site is in a very secluded location, so you will not be disturbed by passing traffic etc. We were able to choose our own pitch on-line and wasn't disappointed with the set up. Due to the size of these pitches several users had multiple tents and even one had two caravans and an awning on the same pitch - don't think you pay any extra so this could work out to be great value. If you like the sun in the evening then you need to book on the pitches with EHU as the pitches opposite got the sun in the morning but none in the evening. ( If you check on the site map, we had the pitch named Skylarks Nest with the evening sun)
As previous reviews mention, the facilities are excellent however, the temperature in the ladies showers was not always constant and could quickly turn from hot to cold, not great when trying to wash your hair! my OH said this didn't seem to occur in the mens for some reason.
The site was very quiet and peaceful with strict rules on noise level after 10pm not that anybody got the chance to be outside due to the horrendous torrential rain and wind for the whole 10 days! Dont think we will go again in July after talking to the locals.
The site shop is very limited and it is only open for 1hr in the morning and again across tea-time.
We did find the location a little out of the way and had to drive probably 40 - 60mins to visit either the north or south coast and even Dartmoor itself. The Pub in Bratton Clovelly does exceptional meals and are very reasonable but be warned this is very popular and regardless of the day would recommend booking a table(well worth a visit - the portions are very generous and not many people manage all three courses). We did manage one BBQ - just!
We would recommend the butchers in Launceston (Philip Warren & Son) on the corner of the arcade. The quality, choice and price was fantastic.
Would recommend this site and would love to go again although 7hrs driving to get there, is a bit much when all it seems to do is rain - would give July a miss next time. BRITISH WEATHER YOU CANT BEAT IT lol)

This was our second visit to South Breazle, but this time with our newly purchased caravan. It was just as splendid as last year.
We arrived on the Friday just before Whit bank holiday, in blazing sunshine, our pitch was ready and waiting and this year half of it was hard standing, brilliant as we had the caravan (we took our own levelling blocks this time).
It was just as we remembered and better because for 90% of our 11 nights it was sunny and very hot.
The site is well maintain, Louise, Steve and their family work so hard to keep it just right.
The water fountain had so much use - in today's society of never letting our 9 year old out of our sight, it was lovely to see her and newly made camping friends head off to the water fountain knowing they will be safe!
This really is a site away from it all, where nature and humans exist without conflict.
Please don't put swings or climbing frames in the middle of the field, our children and their friends enjoyed playing games with each other, bats and balls, however, most of all sat on top of the water fountain laughing and talking.
In a world where my husband and I rarely sit down for more than 5mins and our daughter is shipped to school and various events it was great to step off the merry ground of our hectic lives and just for 11 days remember what it is that makes our family important - each other!
Basically if you want a campsite where it peacefully - you can let the children loose to play and eat Lousie sausages from your BBQ this is the place!

I knew straight from the moment that I used their website to book our half-term break at South Breazle that I’d found a hidden gem of a site. Indeed, upon arrival day, leaving the ever so busy A30 behind and heading down the final three miles of pheasant filled country lanes, we were not let down by our first impressions of the site.
The site has a small shop selling a few basics, which doubles as the reception opening twice a day, 09:00–10:00, and 17:00-18:00. We arrived mid-afternoon so the shop was closed and we followed instructions to make a phone call to the farm using an internal phone located to announce our arrival. We were soon setting about pitching our Bear Lake on our pre-booked super size pitch. There are 25 pitches, a pleasant mixture of hard-standing, part hard-standing, standard grass, serviced and non-serviced. We booked late, and took the last pitch available, a serviced part hard-standing pitch ideally suited for caravans with awnings. However, the pitches are so large that it easily accommodated our car, trailer and tent with side extension.
During our stay the shop started to sell fresh sausages produced from the farm. Unfortunately for us, the bacon was still in its curing stage and wasn’t available during our stay. Louise, who cheerfully manned the shop each day, also informed me that from July beef will be available to those stopping at the site during the coming summer months.
The site is only three years old, and as such, the facilities are modern, bright and airy. The showers were an absolute pleasure to use, a double shower cubicle with an even bigger changing / drying area with a suitable amount of hooks and a large wooden chair within each. The showers were all you could ask for, hot and powerful and were operated using the push button technique without the ability to change the temperature. My darling four year old daughter found the showers perhaps too hot and powerful, but again South Breazle came up with the goods. The family bathroom contained a shower that was programmed to be cooler and less powerful than within the main shower blocks. The toilet blocks and washing up facilities were regularly cleaned during our stay. The site seemed fairly full over the first weekend, but quietened off a little during the week of our stay, but not once did any of us have to queue for either a shower or to use the washing up facilities.
As far as entertainment goes on the site, it’s peace and quiet all the way. The pitches are all based around a huge field. A small set of goal posts and a play house are the only items to adorn this space, but it was well used as a play area by all the children on the site who for once are forced to pretty much make their own entertainment. I enjoyed the space to make use of the South West winds and give my kite a rare outing. In a field adjacent to the site the owners have created a wonderful fun fountain for the kids to cool themselves down during the blistering heat we were lucky enough to have endured during our stay. Perhaps one improvement for this camping heaven would be for the addition of a small play area containing perhaps a couple of swings and a slide in the middle of the central field.
The site is based in central Devon and provides a good base for visiting many attractions but you have to be prepared to travel. During our break we visited the beaches at Widemouth Bay and Bude. We travelled to Eden – although the queues were so long we turned away and instead spent the day at the National Trust owned Lanhydrock Country House. We also spent several hours soaking up the ambience of the beautiful Cornish villages of Tintagel and Boscastle. Roadford Lake was just around the corner from the site and is well worth a visit for a walk or cycle ride.
The award winning Lifton Farm Shop is just five miles from the site. We enjoyed a most delicious lunch surrounded by several superbly decorated scarecrows. We purchased some quality produce and meats which we devoured later that evening. We enjoyed a couple of meals out at local pubs. The pub closest to the site, The Clovelly Inn, in nearby Bratton Clovelly gets busy and booking a table is recommended. The home-made duck, pheasant and port pate was delicious. Whilst out and about we fell upon the Eliot Arms, near to Launceston. Again, this was another busy pub and we were lucky to get the last remaining table. The staff and locals at both pubs made us feel most welcome. Due to the remoteness of the site, there is a distinct lack of local shops, but Launceston is well served with several supermarkets.
The site also offers secure storage for caravans and trailer tents at only £20 a month. Once your stay is over, you simply secure your caravan and leave it on your pitch. The owners then lift the legs and move it to the secure area, returning it to your pitch of choice for your next visit leaving the van exactly how you left it. I asked the owners if they’d consider this excellent customer service to tent owners, but alas this was not part of their plans.
South Breazle was a superb find. All the campers we talked to were either returners to the site, or like us, will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed here on the last May 2009 BH weekend.
This was a lovely rural camping site with great facilities. It has separately named very spacious pitches which surround a large grassed – field / play area which is circled by a well built stone to get vehicles to the individual pitches. The whole site is surrounded by trees but you still get fantastic views out across Dartmoor to the south.
The facilities were excellent and the free showers were some of the best I’ve ever seen at a campsite (although you can’t regulate the temperature so if you like cool / cold showers then that could be a problem)
The site was very quiet – mainly families and the chatter from the surrounding wild-life made this site a really peaceful location.
Price was £15.50 for two adults, one tent and a car – for the facilities, location and pitches, I thought this was fine. The only thing which would add greatly to this site would be picnic tables at each pitch.
Would definitely visit again.

Camped here for half term when it was surprisingly quiet. Great site - pitches well spaced out with a huge grassy area in the middle for kids and a play fountain. Showers are amongst best we've ever seen on a site. Any drawbacks? Miles to the 'waste' facilities and that grassy area cries out for a swing or two! We'll definitely be back. NB They also require payment in advance which is a bit unusual, but is because the site is unmanned during the middle of the day - just find your pitch and set up!
