Have not visited for about a year but still the most wonderful camp site! Some of the trees have gone which give you a far greater amount of sunlight. These have been replaced with the most wonderful wood carvings which are still in progress, so can't wait to see the newer additions as the many present ones are totally delightful. Glad to see that the showers and loos remain spotless and still look brand new. Very reasonable site for all the facilities there, and a very short walk to the local pub, The Rose and Crown, makes this an ideal site.

Just had spent the May bank holiday at the Piccadilly caravan park ( 3 nights ). We were away with friends that had booked for both of us when we had tents. Having just bought a caravan I requested the owners to change the pitch to a caravan pitch. This proved to be an easy task and owner was very accommodating. Access to the site was easy even for a first timer towing a caravan, the owner showed us to the pitch and assisted with the reversing, following came a quick explanation of where to find the facilities.
A new block containing toilets and showers for both ladies and gents and an older block for both plus the waste water and disposal points and a washing up room. The pitches were all spacious with grass at the side for awnings / to relax and enjoy the great weather. The facilities were very clean and hot water plentiful.
Our friends were pitched next to us who had rented a caravan to try for the week and equally had a good amount of space be able to relax in. We have two Weimaraner dogs needing a lot of exercise and found the dog walk to be excellent in a closed off field on the site.
There are a couple of areas set a side for tents which again are very spacious and clean / flat. There is no web site on this one so I am pleased my friends had taken the time to travel the 60 odd miles to check it out first.

Nice friendly owners. Site well positioned for visits to places like Longleat, Stonehenge, Avebury, Caen Hill Locks & Salisbury.
Camping field has a very slight slope on the side closest to the horse field but you can pitch so it doesn't affect you. Ground has some very hard patches so worth taking some rock pegs with you. Field gets the sun pretty much all day. No play area but centre of the field is left clear so that children can play there.
1 shower in mens/ladies & 2 toilets in each. The showers are 50p for about 5 mins. The ladies worked fine but the mens apparently was a bit hit and miss. Shower area has plenty of space to get changed in but the machine to start the hot water is on the outside wall of the shower. Site was full and showers were busy but no major queues if you didn't mind what time you went. The owners are hoping to install 2 more in the future. No private washing cubicles but two sinks in each area. The ladies & gents were always clean & tidy though the ladies did run out of loo roll the first night but this was replenished early the next day. Only 1 minor negative is that there are bars of soap for hand washing rather than liquid soap dispensers.
There was 1 washing up sink (always seemed to have plenty of hot water) and a couple of washing machines/dryers. The site does have recycling facilities.
The site was very busy when we were there and there were several groups staying. This meant that noise was a big problem overnight with little regard for the 11pm quiet(er) time. There weren't any lary groups but there was lots of loud talking/laughing from most groups. There was also loud music being played in one group (though to be fair they were in the far corner nearest the road/entrance). Not sure if noise is a common problem or we just picked a loud weekend but the site does welcomes groups.
The road outside is very busy during the day but does quieten down overnight and on most of the camping field even during the day it isn't that loud as the house shields you from the noise.
The local garage is well stocked and there is a nice walk behind the site to it which avoids the need to walk along the road.
You can have a fire pit or BBQ stand for free and wood/kindling can be provided for £5 a bag if required. Mobile signal was good (Vodafone). There is a mobile tower right next to the site but not sure what network it is on.
Overall a very nice well maintained site.

Just returned from the Jubilee bank holiday, and was delighted with this site. The owners, George and Judith, and their family were fabulous and the facilities are spotless.
When we arrived we didn't fancy the hard standings we had been allocated which are unfortunately under overhanging trees, and as we were a group of caravans and tents I asked if we could pitch together rather then be strung out in a line. We ended up with pitches together on grass which were lovely and we even had a covered well in the middle for us to put our beer on.
Nothing was too much trouble and although there are only two loos and one shower per sex, plus disabled, there weren't any queues and all was spotless. Only one washing up sink but the water was the hottest I've ever used at a campsite and we've been going away for about 25 years.
The pub is lovely and in easy walking distance and there is a garage with a shop, although the supermarket is quite a trek. Excellent dog walks up on the ranges, and the little village was very pretty during the Jubilee celebrations. We will return.

Just back from a long weekend in Tilshead at Brades Acre. A very warm welcome, charming owners, complete hands-off approach, although always there when we had questions. We were a large group on the back field and despite 11 young children, had our own space to play without annoying others.
Advantages:
We chose this site because it allowed open fires, which is a must for enjoying marshmallows, so that was the big bonus.
Despite there being no playground, there was a neighbouring field with horses in, and along with the little woodland area at the side, was enough to keep the children occupied.
A couple of our group changed plans last minute, but site were very accommodating.
Clean toilets (2xladies, 2xgents, 1xdisabled) though paper ran out in one or the other occasionally. Proper hot water for washing hands which seemed to come through instantly, which makes a nice change.
Clean shower - 50p for 5 mins - low pressure, but cleanest camping shower experienced. Queues at usual times as there was only 1 in women's bathroom. Free hair dryer.
Clean washing up area - 1 sink, queues as the usual times. (Also houses washing machines/driers, though I didn't use them, and didn't see anyone need them. )
Back field is quite large - sloping in parts - tents were only pitched around edge of back field so space in the middle for games without much worry or annoyance to other campers (well no one complained and they adopted a few other children from around the site too).
Tilshead - Nice off-road walk behind the field to get to the village in about 5 minutes, perfectly accessible for all children. Lovely village pub. Really friendly and accommodating - nice beer garden (pity it rained when we were in there) and excellent reasonably priced food. Child friendly.
Timed our visit for the jubilee celebrations and had a wonderful day at the village fair, with food / stalls / entertainment - where else can you watch sheepdogs herding ducks and geese? Kids joined in morris dancing and had a proper english country jubilee experience. Priceless.
Disadvantages:
Small site - some pitches quite close. Once there, was relieved that we hadn't gone for the hook-up pitches, as they were quite close together, overshadowed by mobile phone mast, or close to the road - there was quite a lot of traffic as it is. We pitched behind the house on the back field, but you could still hear traffic noise.

We booked this campsite at short notice as we at decided to go to Longleat for our youngest daughters birthday. We were greeted on site by the very friendly owners.
After being shown the pitches we were shown the amenities block. These are very modern and immaculate-I would say the cleanest I have seen at any site.
We put the tent up and decided to go exploring. 20 minutes later we were in the lovely town of Devizes and then we went on to Avebury.
The next day we went to Longleat-we were pleasantly suprised how close it is to Brades Acre.
This is probably the nicest campsite we have ever stayed at. There is a no nonsense tariff without the hidden costs that some campsites have. There were several nationalities there which was encouraging.
It is a small well kept site and although it was busy we didn't have to queue for the showers or the washing up area.
I would highly recommend this site and will definitely go back

This is a very good site the people who run it are very welcoming (but not all over you if you know what I mean) they show you where every thing is and leave you to enjoy your stay.
Me and My wife took are two kids age 7 & 9 for four nights in are tent.
My brother and his girlfriend camped at the same time too.
We had a campfire each day and into the night it really does make camping so much better having one. Hmm hot baked potatoes lovely done on a camp fire.
Don't worry about taking fire wood thay provide every thing you need for a great campfire at a small price.
We went to longeat which was very good. (if you go there and drive though the monkey pen they will find some thing to pull off Bite or break on your car they are experts at this so be warned.
We also hired in a nearby town called brent-on-avon ten minutes away or so
Two big canadian canoe's witch was great fun we all went off down the cannal for a few hours cost £10 per hour for rental.
My Son say's 'It was a very nice place to relax and have fun'.
My daughter says 'this was a very nice place because it wasn't to big so you didn't have trouble finding the shower block. I really like it as there was a field next to it with a horse in it who was very friendly.
As a whole we had a great time there.

This is the first time we have stayed at Brades Acre and we had a lovely stay.
The location is perfect for visiting Wiltshire. The site was friendly and quiet. There was a little road noise during the day but this did not impact on our stay at all.
We were one of the only campers in a tent so had the field to ourselves most of the time but there is loads of space and the ground is quite flat. Don't pitch too close to the horses though!
The pitch is in full sun all day so it was lovely to wake up bathed in sun and keep the evening light.
Fire pits and wood are provided (small charge for wood)
The toilet block was spotless and although there is only one female and one male shower, we did not have to wait (Showers a 50p for approx 5 mins) This might be a different story if the campsite is fuller. There was good washing up and laundry facilities but it is a shame that there was no fridge that campers have easy access to as this would be a good addition to the otherwise excellent facilities.
The pub in the village is part way through a refurb and isn't serving food at the moment but there are others a short drive away. You can get basic supplies at the garage which is walking distance.
One thing I would say is that I would probably not recommend people with young children stay as there is nothing really to amuse them here.
All in all, we had a brilliant stay. I would def stay here again. Thnk you George and Judith. You have a lovely site!

We were booked into this camp site by friends and did not know what to expect, we were over the moon with this small but very attractive site
The owners could not do enough for us and made our stay very pleasant
Toilet and showers all new and the grounds very clean. It was also an excellent place to exercise the dog with miles of footpaths to choose from
We will definitely be going back

We are a family of 5 + a dog, this was our first weekend away in our caravan and we loved every minute.
The site was very quiet, the toilets and showers were immaculate and require a 50p piece for 5 mins, the same for the hair dryer. There is only one shower in the FM block and one in the males and although we never had to wait I wondered if it would be the same during peak season?
A short walk to the village where there is a pub, which serves food and also provides a takeaway service. There is also a post office within the pub and a bit further down the road a garage/convenience store. There is no footpath immediately out side the site and in the dark this can be a bit dangerous as it is also unlit. A torch is a must!
