We stayed for 5 nights in some of the most vile weather so far this year! It was lovely and quiet and the owner was great, she was really friendly and has loads of recommendations for where to go and what to see and they're absolutely spot-on.
I asked for a suggestion for where we could go horse riding and she was back with a list within 5 minutes. We went where she suggested and they were brilliant. There are also suggestions for where to eat and what to see and they're all worth paying attention to.
There's a pub very close by which was quite average but Joy recommends some really great places that were only about 15 minutes away.
There's also a shop/newsagent within a short walk.
The campsite is beautifully maintained and we found it very private and it had all the facilities we needed - hot clean showers, clean toilets, fridges, freezers and a good sized washing up area.
Only minor niggles/suggestions for improvement:
The women's shower seemed to be a little bit erratic temperature wise.
It would be great if a facility to charge mobile phones/cameras was offered for a small fee.
Some of the cut-away pitching areas are slightly closer to each other than I would ideally like.
Overall it was great and we would strongly recommend it to anyone!

Had a fabulous 3 night stay at Hedgehog Corner. Beautiful site, as stated before on a slope but with flat pitches for tents. Adult couples only makes it quiet and very very peaceful. We stayed from the bank holiday Monday and apart from another couple had the site to ourselves for the three nights.
Bathroom facilities are exceptionally clean and well appointed. Hot water on tap! Kitchen area is also well appointed and the use of the fridge/freezers is an added bonus.
Booking is easy, on line in advance, you just check in with Joy (the Owner) on arrival. Directions etc all very clear.
Lots and lots of info on the site about the area which is very useful.
Site is quite near the A35, there is slight traffic noise but certainly not intrusive. As mentioned before the star gazing from the site is to die for!
We cycled using the site as a base - B road to Lyme is busy, but found a safer quieter route back - with some lung busting hills to work off the Cream teas! Watch out for Devon CC hedge trimming if cycling - there was no notice of such so be ware for punctures - excellent cycle shop in Axminster - Bikenutz if you need repairs!
All in all had a lovely time, love the area and will definitely be back to Hedgehog Corner.

We have just returned from 3 days camping at Hedgehog Corner & would return but due to certain problems would compare other local sites in the area first.
Pros
1) Adult only site limited up to 10 tents of max 2 people per tent.
2) Good position for local area
3) Toilet Block & kitchen kept reasonably clean
4) 2 fridges available to campers
5) Owners very helpful
Cons
1) Noise from nearby road annoying but not sufficient to keep you awake
2) Site on sloping field but flat area cut outs available though many were uneven
3) No elsan waste disposal
4) Grass was not cut short so consequently feet were soaking wet just going to & from toilet block
5) 2 showers & 3 toilets should have been adequate but as 2 of the toilets were inside the same cubicles as the showers it drastically limited their availability consequently there was often a queue of 2 to 3 people.
6) At £25/night we have had far better facilities for less.
7) When leaving site the road to your left is partially blind though not dangerous if you edge out slowly. The fitting of an angled mirror opposite the exit this would increase safety.

Just got back from a wonderful week at hedgehog corner. Have always loved The Jurassic Coast and was keen to visit again after a few years trying other areas. The Site is lovely. Although sloping the owners have very cleverly made little level pitches for each tent, and each pitch has it's own picnic table and bench too.
The owner, Joy is very helpful and friendly, without being intrusive and has left numerous laminated information sheets in the toilet block and campers kitchen with recommendations for places to eat and see. We thoroughly endorse her choices, having tried most of them including amazing cream teas, great fish and chips and fantastic food in a bistro on the beach.
The facilities are very good, always clean and perfectly adequate for the site at full capacity which is still only 20 people, as the site limits each pitch to two people and there are ten in total. Weekends seemed the busiest but the site is still very quiet and peaceful because campers are mainly couples so no noisy groups. The water was always hot and I love the decor in the shower/wc block which has been painted with a delicious vanilla ice cream colour and has dark slate tiles in the shower cubicles. It makes a change for a site to not just go for the cheapest white tiles everywhere!
We will definitely be returning to Hedgehog corner.

My girlfriend and I visited this site last week, for six nights.
It was one of the most perfect camping trips we've ever had and we've had a lot of nice camping trips.
The site is adults only and no groups so it is very peaceful which is hard to find in a campsite these days.
The field is on a gentle slope but has levelled areas to pitch your tent on. If you pitch at the left hand side of the field you get a nice view of woodland across the horizon.
We were there when it was at full capacity at first and you wouldn't know it, there's plenty of space between pitches and because it's just couples it was very quiet.
There's benches next to each tent for you to eat on.
There is one male shower/toilet cubicle and one female and a separate toilet and sink. This doesn't seem like a lot but it's adequate for the amount of people staying.
The showers and toilets are of a very high standard too, very clean and nicely done out.
There is a washing up room too with three fridge freezers to use, so you can freeze your ice packs and keep any other food in the fridge.
There is also a separate outside washing up area.
The owner Joy was a. Joy. Very friendly and welcoming and funny. Be sure to read all her recommendations of places in the area.
There's a brilliant restaurant right on a quiet beach that we would have never have found if it wasn't for her signs telling us of places to go.
The food was so good we got breakfast and lunch there and even went for a swim in the sea.
Another recommendation led us one of the best cream teas we'd ever had.
As I've said, it's so lovely and peaceful, we sat and read and watched buzzards soaring over the fields opposite, watched rabbits hopping about, I couldn't ask for a nicer week of camping.
Also the surrounding area to me is the best in the country, it's my new favourite place.
There's very little light pollution at night so I laid out on the grass and gazed at the stars which was brilliant.
Yes, so I would definitely return again and hope to do so in the not too distant future.
Thank you.

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it! We pitched at the top of the field as the view was amazing. It is quite a walk back from the loo, but as we're fairly fit it wasn't a problem.
The site was very quiet. As they only allow 10 units at a time there was lots of space and we were quite far from the nearest unit.
The facilities are clean and modern and the use of a fridge was very useful.
We booked this site as we were visiting River Cottage HQ. Very handy if you're planning to go there.
We're definitely going to come back to this site and visit some more of the stunning local area soon!

We arrived late and were met at the door (of the B&B) by the owner - a lovely lady who advised us of all the amenities, we pitched the tent and were then able to walk down the road to the nearby pub for dinner.
The site, having only 10 pitches is very spacious (each tent space is at least 10 metres from it's nearest neighbough) and well appointed, with fabulous views over fields and woodland, each pitch is levelled off and has a picnic table, fire bucket and paving stone for disposable bar-b-q use (to ensure that the grass is not burned).
ALL the facilities were immaculate, from the kitchen area with fridges, to the recycling area, and the most important thing - the toilets and showers were better than many hotels I have stayed in (and I have stayed in a fare few !), they were brilliantly clean.
The site allows no children, so was very quiet in the mornings, and there is a parking area at the edge for late night returns, all for the consideration of the other guests.
IN BREIF - A FABULOUS PLACE - WE WILL BE RETURNING - AND SOON, WITH FRIENDS. !

This is the nicest campsite I have ever been to! The facilities were lovely and spotlessly clean, there were three large fridges for food and the site itself has lovely views across the valley. It is handy for Lyme and Axminster and for exploring the East Devon coast. Joy, the owner, was really friendly but unobtrusive (ie) not checking up on noise etc every 5 minutes. It is a lovely quiet site in a great spot. A couple of tiny drawbacks - if you camp at the top of the field, the walk back from the loo was a little tiring for me; and the taxi to River Cottage Canteen and back is expensive. Otherwise a brilliant site - we will be going back!

We stayed at this site for 5 nights at the beginning of July.
It's really well located for a trip to River Cottage HQ, or the River Cottage Canteen in Axminster (Yum - highly recommended!). It's also convenient for the lovely seaside town of Lyme Regis and exploring the Jurrasic Coast.
The facilities are of a good standard, but are small. There is a small campers kitchen with an indoor washing up area, several fridge freezers and good local information. The bathroom facilities are really modern, nice and clean, with lots of free hot water. As already stated though, there is only 1 shower each for men and women - although women are welcome to use an additional shower in the house which also does B&B.
The site was pretty quiet when we stayed in early July, even at the weekend, so this wasn't much of an issue. I think the owners try to limit the amount of campers and as a result the site stays fairly quiet. It's also an adult only site if you prefer that
There are no marked pitches and plenty of space, but the field does slope and the ground was rocky below the grass and we found it hard to get our tent pegged out properly which was our main gripe

We visited at the Bank holiday weekend and had a lovely time. Nice and quiet and not squeezed in at all. Didn't realise it was so close to River cottage and will hopefully return to get a meal there which other campers had done and really enjoyed. Very swish looking shower, although only 1 each, although I don't think the owner would let the campsite get too crowded. Great that it had fridges that we could use and loads of local information. Perfect for a quiet weekend away.
